i have a friend who suggested that i should work out in the morning after i get up without eating anything, as it burns more fat. He suggests that eating then lifting uses the energy from carbs I consumed, whereas lifting without eating anything burns energy from fat.

i generally dont like lifting unless i've had even a little to eat, because i get very nauseous and a bad experience of lifting tends to kill my motivation. Is there much truth in what he's saying, it seems to make sense but a lot of things seemed to and then there are researches that say otherwise.

You are doing it wrong mate

working out near bedtime increases protein synthesis better when you sleep.
>>
The effect might be real, but even if it is it's tiny. You're far better off working out in a way that suits you than pursuing marginal benefits like this.

I recently quit the sweet mj. Its hard man, especially in today's society where you work hard, come home, and suddenly there isn't really anything to do. So naturally, smoking is something that seems very appealing in such a scenario.

What I've found that helps me is to keep myself as busy as possibly throughout the day.

My wife and I have a trip coming up and we have gained quite a few pounds since being married. We're not terribly out of shape but we definitely need to drop a few. Bad part is, we need it in 30 days. It doesnt have to be 30 but we'd like it to be close.

Is this possible? If so, can you share the workout/diet with me? We're willing to try anything, as long as its healthy and won't kill us.

Is having good posture really just a matter of REMEMBERING to hold good posture? I refuse to believe it is, because most people I see on the street or in the gym have fine posture and I doubt they go about their day reminding themselves to do X Y and Z. But everything I look up online about improving posture says "You just gotta do X Y and Z and then just remember to hold that position all day!"

Like surely there's just some fucking exercise(s) I can do so that I can have a permanent good posture without having to think about it. Shit is starting to annoy me.

>>
No, you are correct. You work out and train your core so that the rest of the time your muscle structure holds you in a correct position.
Nobody can be posture-conscious for 12h every day
>>
>>37980687
Eventually it becomes habit.
At first you remember to hold it, then it becomes subconscious
>>
>>37980870
Are there any specific core exercises I should do or are the basic ones fine (plank etc.)?

what exactly is wrong with weight-loss surgery?
29 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Doesn't solve the root of the problem.
>>
>>37980680
if you are fat you eat enough food every day to maintain that fat if you get surgery it dosnt effect ur apatite so you just gain it back
>>
>>37980680
fat people are fat cus they eat to many callories every day if you get surgery you will still eat to many callories every day. So if you dnt eat less after the surgery you will just end up looking the same.

I did SL 5x5 for a year, but I want to switch to bodybuilding. Can you guys recommend a good routine?

You want to do roids you mean?

Because if you want to stay natty you gotta train for strength bro, even in the higher rep ranges you need to constantly get stronger to grow.
>>
>>37980539
no i don't want to take roids

but I don't want to continue lifting with the powerlifting philosophy, either. I don't care about increasing my weight on the main lifts and I don't want to do the back squat instead of the healthier front squat, just because I can squat a bigger weight that way.

I want to gain muscle and be healthy.
>>
>>37980572

But size and strength is only really separate for a novice. Most bodybuilders are decently strong, and many mr olympia winners competed in powerlifting.

Powerlifters spend a lot of time in "functional" exercises to improve their main lifts, while bodybuilders spend more time on looking good.

You need to consistently improve your strength in order to grow in size, even if you do it in the 8-12 range (in practice it doesn't matter what range you choose though, you get stronger at the range you train).

Hey /fit/, my little sister is trying this new 'NO PROCESSED FOOD EVER' kick and she's pissing me & my entire family off with it.

How can I get her to chill the fuck down about processed foods? we haven't been able to have a peaceful dinner in weeks.

Figured you guys might have some science or wise words that I could pass off as my own @ her.
