How do I balance weight lifting and sports.
I want to get better at basketball but I need stronger muscles to be better at the sport.
But if I lift weights I'm too tired to play and if I play I'm too tired to lift weights.

Are routines just optimized ways to get in and out if the gym with the most gains in least amount of time?

I injured my back and can only do machines, luckily my gym has lots of machines for anything you can imagine. Can I make the same gains just doing every machine 3x8 except main lift imitations like leg press, bench, and ohp 5x5?

It takes longer, about 2 hours, but I definitely feel sore the next day and feel the pump. If I do this every machine every other day, raising the weights 5lbs per workout can I still make good gains equal to free weights?

machines are useless for strength, strength is basically

-Squats
-Deadlift
-Overheadpress
-Bench press

with ancillary/assisstance looking like:
-Power cleans
-pull ups/chin ups
-dips
-romanian deadlifts
-lying tricep extensions

Its not doing many different exercises, its about getting strong at the core exercises.

Machines as i said previously are pretty useless at building strength stay away from them.
