Alright bros it was my 21st yesterday. Ended up going to a popular gay bar in the city cause there was a drag show going on that was apparently killer. Long story short they found out it was my bday and I stripped and made some ones.

After this they offered me a bartending job. Should I go for it bros? The bar is fun as fuck and everyone is super nice, but I'm straight and I'm not sure if that's bad if you're gonna bartend at a gay bar. Thoughts?

Hey /fit/, both me and my lifting partner have been doing SS for about a month and a half now. We've made some substantial gains (went from about 30 to 60kg on the squat, 30 to 70kg on didlies) but the problem is that we don't feel tired enough. At the end of a workout, we feel like we can keep going, both of us. The problem is that SS is strict about the exercises you can do and we always get told to just stick to the program.

Are we simply not lifting heavy enough? Should we add more repetitions? Differen't exercises? My friend's girlfriend's sister is an olympic powerlifter and she says we're doing something wrong if we're not tired as fuck after working out.

Also, my arm strength is general is not great. I can hardly curl 10kg. Is there anything I can do about that, which won't fuck up SS? Even rip says his guilty pleasure is curls.

6 weeks is nothing. And if you rush ahead you WILL stall sooner than necessary.

The slow and relatively easy feeling start of SS is there to stop this.
Believe me, you will not feel like 3x5 squats feels too easy by the time you're doing over 100kg.

Don't be tempted to rush ahead. I'm speaking from experience. I increased the weight too fast and it didn't do any good long term, all it did was stroke my short term ego a bit.

The time saved by steady slow progress will outweigh the time gained by attempting to skip forward too quickly, trust me.

And let me reiterate, you will soon find 3x5 is plenty hard work.

I was exactly the same as you OP. I was lucky, however, to have a father who has lifted his entire life, and competed in powerlifting. When I first decided to change my situation, and stop being a massive loser stuck in my room, I went with him to that powerlifting gym and started lifting there. I've been lifting for little over 2 years now, and I also compete in powerlifting. I often train in a commercial gym with a couple of gymfriends, and I'm stronger than almost everyone in that gym. Strength is always mired and respected, especially by girls, and especially if you aren't a fat fuck.

Don't lift for girls. Don't. They will automatically come for you when they see you have a goal and a specific desire with your training. Watch your body transform before your own eyes, it will happen even if you only train for strength (though it will take a bit longer).

I'm not saying you should be a powerlifter, but find a very specific goal with your training, and my suggestion would be strength. That's motivation in itself, to know why you train, and what for, if the desire (in my case, to become world champion) is strong enough. I'm still a virgin (lol) but I'm not kissless or hugless anymore. My social skills are still terrible but they have become much better, since people often strike up conversations with me, asking for help etc. Just being friendly and smiling will also make miring grills start talking to you. It's kinda funny. "Wow, you are really strong". Just take it from there and practice.

Don't worry. You will make it, but you have to make that initial decision to go and change things. Get to a gym as soon as you can, and don't care what anyone thinks. Start lifting. Strength is easy, and it will be easy to commit once you see your initial gains. Become a student of the game, and you will be surprised at how much attention you will get if people see that you are good at something.

I hope at least some of this helps dude, at least has been my experience :)

I'm not joking. I don't care if it's pseudoscience or the placebo effect at work. All I know is that jacking off makes me physically not want to do anything productive. It's an easy boredom fix. When you deprive yourself of the most pleasurable sensation your body is capable of experiencing, you have no choice but to occupy your mind with other activities. Even if the benefits are initially negligible, stick with it, and at the very least you will have eliminated one more fruitless habit from your life.

I understand where you're coming from man. I used to jack off to hardcore fetish porn at least twice a day. It's not just that you're wasting time. The whole thing fucks with the way you see the world. An hour out of your day isn't that long when you crunch the numbers, but it's that nagging sensation of worthlessness at the back of your head that makes you feel utterly worthless.

Just try it, while cleaning up your diet and jogging daily, as a start. Or start lifting, whatever, anything that takes your mind off of the frustration. I know I probably sound a bit cooked, but I'm just laying out what worked for me.

A 2.5 Liter bottle of Cola Lite says on the nutritional value sticker that it has something like 3 calories in the whole thing. It claims to be sugar and carb free, but there must be something in there right?

What are they not listing on the nutritional value sticker so as to make people think this stuff is actually healthy?

Yes, but its things the human body can't extract energy from so it has no calories. Gasoline has like 30,000 calories a gallon or something in theory, but for the purpose of human consumption it is calorie free.

The same concept applies to water, colourings and artificial sweeteners found in diet drinks.

All calorie free things are just laden with artificial sweetener and other things that the body can't get energy from.

Some people will say sweeteners are dangerous, but theres no real evidence to support that (but its BIG PHARM covering it up amirite)

I love Walden farm shit. It really is calorie free, or sometimes like 10 calories per bottle, negligible. All products follow the formula sweetener (usually sucralose) flavor, thickener and color. Most of their products are shitty as hell, but the syrup is amazing.

Who else lifts for the mental health benefits? I honestly don't care about the gains (though they are nice). I suffer from GAD and lifting has come close to curing it. I'll probably get totally ripped at some point but nobody will know I'm just lifting to avoid panic attacks.

Good post, but no, you're probably self-diagnosing. It's generalized anxiety disorder. Symptoms range from emergency/debilitating/annoyance/non-existent at times. Even typing this post and thinking about past panic attacks is nearly enough to set it off. Lifting has greatly helped although not fully cured it.
