So I was at my local game store, browsing the Super Famicom import games, when I saw this game called "Great Battle IV" buried within all the sports games. And it had Ultraman, Masked Rider, and Gundam on the front? I just had to check it out. Needless to say, it's a quite fun run-and-gun game! All the characters play uniquely- and there's 2-player co-op to boot. The soundtrack is catchy as well, and the art style is sharp. The level design is a bit... Strange sometimes, and I can't understand any of the dialogue, but hey, for 7 bucks, I'd say worth. So, anyone know if the rest of the series is worth checking out on SFC? And why randomly have a crossover between Gundam and Ultraman- I mean, one's an anime and the other is live-action. Kind of a weird combo...
Part 1 is stupid.
Parts 2 and 3 are shitty beat'em ups. Trust me, they're shitty. This is coming from a "beat'em up aficionado". By "shitty" I mean mediocre actually.
Parts 4 and 5 are much better
There's also Great Battle Cyber on Famicom. I found it a bit awkward to play.

>And why randomly have a crossover between Gundam and Ultraman- I mean, one's an anime and the other is live-action
Yeah, but they're all SD-ified so it's a lot less jarring. Basically mashing as many different franchises together in a single game is Banpresto's one trick and one they're still pulling to this day.
I found the Great Battle games that I've played to be fairly decent.
Was this guy any good for /vr/ stuff?
Meh. It and the new version, the Pyra, use ARM processors so you need to find compatible Emulators but I fancy the new Pyra (when it comes out) will be able to do up to PS1.
Thinking about getting a pyra to use as an emulation machine for microcomputers, c64 and speccy and Amiga and the like. Maybe a little mame in there too. Would it work well for that?

Just buy an old netbook for two dollars.
bought this to play retro shit, loving it. snes is perfect with the official nintendo emulator. psp go to hell
also colored sufami buttons are godlike
>>3427050
It's good.
I wish retroarch weren't the only good emulators. The Wii had beautiful emulator interfaces, the 3DS has a green and black mess.
>>3427050
>snes is perfect with the official nintendo emulator
What's its accuracy? bsnes tier, snes9x tier, zsnes tier? Does it support 100% of the SFC/SNES library, including all custom chips, as later bsnes/higan does?
Happy Birthday to the SEGA Genesis! Known as the Mega Drive in other parts of the world, the 16-bit console was released as the Sega Genesis in North America on August 14, 1989.

Please post your favorite games, memories and videos of this awesome 16-bit console
GENESIS DOES!
Sega is ready for the 90's with the Sega Genesis!

This video was actually a promotional tape sent out to retail buyers and store owners.
>GENESIS DOES!
No one trolled harder than Sega under former CEO Tom Kalinske.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsyIu88Smf8
Sonic 2 was definitely the killer app of the Sega Genesis, selling more units than any other game on the system.

Really? Jesus Christ

Huh?
Is it possible to have that many hearts before you become adults? That's 16 heart pieces.
>>3427305
You can do anything with an emulator and cheat engine.
Find a legitimate flaw.
Protip:You can't
Also Conker discussion thread.
>Not retro
Yes it is, nigger.
>>3426360
I liked it an all, but not nearly as much as Banjo Kazooie. I dunno, it feels less solid a platformer to me. The B pad mechanic didn't appeal to me personally
Loved the soundtrack tho, and the voice acting was a pretty great achievement for an N64 game
That part where you had to bounce off the flower's tits. Poor camera placement, no clear indication on how to bounce higher.
How does /vr/ feel about people spray painting their retro consoles? Has /vr/ done it too and have pictures to share?
i wouldnt mind painting if i had a super yellowed super nintendo, or some damaged shell.
when i was a young idiot i tried to paint my gamecube with acrylic paint. a gajillion years later i retouched it with a green after dismantling it and installing my mods
Its their private property, so it's their own business.
Only justifiable for restoration purposes.
There's no 2600 thread. That ain't right.
For some reason /vr/ rarely talks about this console. It's one of the most influential and popular retro consoles yet gets ignored here.
>>3425801
I don't inow much about it. What's the best games?
Does it have well known ports?
>>3425801
That Superman spine is killin' me
>>3425801
I was born in 88, but my older half-sibling's 2600 was my first console, and only console for a long time. Really shaped me as a gamer. Centipede, Space Invaders, Frogger, Donkey Kong, etc. I will always love the 2600.
/g/ are cunts and well /v/ is useless.
I am moving and will have no space for a retro room. research led me to crt_emudriver and atom-15 for the old 4,5,6xxx video cards.
Is this a decent emulator build?
APU to a monitor I have laying around, 6450 fashed and hooked up to a crt tv
xfire them for some pc games.
Hdmi to ypbpr?
or
VGA to ypbpr?
>/g/ are cunts and well /v/ is useless.
You know the definition of madness, right?
>>3425780
Does it involve cunts?
>>3425780
>You know the definition of madness, right?
Isometric puzzle game where you roll a marble through a maze.
not very helpful.

What do you guys think?
why do slaughter-maps use cacodemons so little?
Can we have a thread about this beautiful beast? The XE never got the love it deserved.
>>3425561
maybe because it didnt deserve any.. all this thing was, was a glorified 800Xl made into a "gaming" computer
What is this Fisher Price shit?
>>3425972
It's mad cute :3
>I do not have a system to check this cartridge.

Shitty auction / CL / listing general?
L@@K! RARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
>>3425314
He pulled this before. Not sure if the previous buyer returned it or if he is just repeating a scam and hoping to catch yet another sucker ("1 bid," so it looks like he has). Pretty good trick: take a really cheap cart, rip off the label, wipe off all residue, and call it a possible prototype to turn your $2 game into an $80 sale.
>>3425324
Yeah followed by an $80 refund and ebay account termination.
Fantastic money-making scheme you have there...
>Better than both the Gameboy and Game Gear in basically every way except battery usage.
>Atari decides to not fucking advertise it so it gains no market share whatsoever and dies a quiet death.
Lynx thread?
I was actually surprised by how powerful the Lynx was. Mutha fucka could even do sprite scaling. And the left handed player flip was kinda novel.
OPs pic is the MkII though. The original Lynx was fucking massive and ate batteries for fun.
It's real big, Man. Even that "small" one is big. Late to the game, too. I got a Turbo Express about the same time and no comparison. Has a few good games but generally ported to other systems. Compares unfavorably to Nomad.
Here's a question, I always thought Nintendo had a trademark on the crosskey D-Pad design at that time?
Even the PSX had to 'break' the crosskey up so as not to copy it directly.
How did Atari get away with it? Was Nintendo's trademark just an urban myth?
Do you think it would be possible to make a collaborativ rpg here in vr? I like these sort of projects (ala jojo rpg, Katawa Shoujo) but never found a way to anonimously program and collaborate the way online repositories like github works.
We could make a simple rpg but groundbreaking mechanics.
>>3424128
Sure I'll help, Want to use RPG Maker 2003?inb4 not retro
>>3424140
I have never used rpg maker. But i would be ok if is not too cumbersome and gives freedom to the programmer. Otherwise i'd rather program from scratch.
>>3424128
The problem with projects on 4Chan is that it's hard to maintain a steady support from collaborators. People give up on them way to easily. Sure there were one or two projects that achieved some success, but that's just it.
So, it's 2016 and I'm still waiting for translations. I bet fucking Segagaga will get translated before any Tengai Makyou game.
Should I just give up and play it in Japanese already?
The fighting game that was released in the west as Kabuki Klash is pretty damn good.
What do you lose from playing it in Japanese? You lose from playing translations.
>>3423578
Play the Japanese one
