What are some of the best retro belt scrollers, /vr/? I've been playing Mighty Final Fight and it's pretty alright.

Nice try, meme-machine.
>implying belt scrollers
What are some lesser known NES RPGs? Something about these really simplistic graphics is really charming. I feel like I've played all the famous ones though.
>>3424020
Sweet Home.
Destiny of an Emperor
Ghost Lion
Faria
>>3424039
Faria gets my vote. Holy shit that game is hard towards the end.
Let's have a thread about /vr/ portable non-mainstream gaming. Like, I think no Gameboy, but others are still allowed.
>>3424005
Nothing is as classy as Game and Watch.
>>3424005
Do the Game and Watch Gallery games count? I grew up playing 2 endlessly and wound up collecting the full series just to have them all to play, I always loved the simple mindless nature of those games.
>>3424005
Man, I used to have the double screen Donkey Kong one. It gave me so many hours of entertainment despite being a fairly simple game. I don't know where the fuck it went though, it's like it was swallowed by a black hole or something.
I wish they weren't as expensive so I could replace it.
>Urge to play a certain game again
>Remembers THAT part
>Nopes the fuck out
Ever had those moments?
Huh, I've tried starting up a Banjo playthrough several times, but somehow I lose interest at the beach level.
We already have a thread for this.

Anyone know how to get this thing working with other emulators besides dolphin or even steam?
I really love the classic GCN controller but it doesn't seem to be deteced by anything except dolphin. It even shows up in other programs as "vjoy device" but I'm unable to set any inputs.
Do these also work on the Wii U?
>>3425558
Even if it does those gamecube usb adapters only work with Smash Bros anyway, to my knowledge there isn't any other game that supports it.
Use google next time.

So, is anyone playing the 1999 classic FreeSpace 2 in glorious HD with the FS2 Open project? Geez, this game is freaking amazing, and the graphics look beautiful by modern standards with the HD texture and model packs.
Some of the fan campaigns look pretty good too. I'm thinking of trying the Blue Planet series after I finish FreeSpace 2.
fuck, i have an unsatisfied infatuation for 2d space sims.
is there any retro or not that is mmo?
i played StartportGE some 10+ years ago
www.starportgame.com
i dont know if its still populated because you cant fucking register at the forums its pending admin approval forever, and i can get it to login on my computers, and the admin wont reply direct emails.
its a mix of elite/escape velocity with bullethel when on planet surfaces trying to invade colonies
and being mmo, there was omnipresent player killing like in ultina online, and head hunting of sorts
>>3423668
Had it on my backlog for ages, played the first couple of missions but always stopped playing because I was playing a lot of Tie Fighter back then and was too lazy to learn a different set of controls to do the same thing
How much progress has been done on the FS2 Open project? Is it similar to how OpenMW has completely revamped Morrowind?
Blue Planet is full of lengthy and overbearing in-mission cutscenes and scripted events. It has a cringeworthy story too, the kind laden with personal drama and it even has the whole "chosen one" bullshit. I recommend you play Procyon Insurgency instead if you want a campaign with fun and well-designed missions with minimal gimmicks and no cinematic nonsense.
What are your all-time favorite [retro] beat 'em ups?
1) King of Dragons (SNES)
2) Sengoku 2 (Neo Geo)
3) Streets of Rage 2 (Genesis)
4) Final Fight 3 (SNES)
5) Golden Axe (Genesis)
1) Mystical Fighter (GEN)
2) The NinjaWarriors (SNES)
3) Growl (ARC) (PS2 Taito Collection vol. 2)
4) Gourmet Sentai (SFC)
5) Brawl Brothers (SNES)
My favorite belt scroller is Return of Double Dragons.
Capcom's Alien vs. Predator on arcade.
Here's something I want others who are more well-versed in this genre to tell me:
I was extremely surprised and delighted by how FAST the characters can switch from fighting at front to in the back. Is this a special case with this game?
>My Predator is punching an Alien
>Another Alien creeping up behind
>Tap Left arrow
>My Predator swings back AND attacks the other Alien in an instant
It's a hard thing to explain in words, but I played other beat'em ups before, and this one just feels sooooo much better. I felt like a super badass.
DHA > Dynamite Cop
I wish I understood Japanese so I could properly play my PS2 version of Dynamite Deka.
>>3423603
They're practically the same game.
Dynamite Deka 2 aka Dynamite Cop! on Dreamcast is the REAL hotness.
>>3423635
I think he meant that he prefers the original Dynamite Deka over its sequel, since Dynamite Cop was the U.S. title of Dynamite Deka 2.
But if we're talking about regional differences, Die Hard Arcade is definitely better than Dynamite Deka. Why would anyone want to play as a dime store knockoff of John McClane when you can have the real deal?
>>3423603
>I wish I understood Japanese so I could properly play my PS2 version of Dynamite Deka.
Stop wishing and start learning.
What /vr/ Godzilla games have you played? Any obscure recommendation?
>>3423586
SNK's King of the Monsters is the best, but if we're talking strictly Godzilla games, I kinda liked the one on Dreamcast. The SNES Japan-only fighting game was pretty cool, although wildly unbalanced.
Kaijuu Daikessen
The PCE-CD one
What are the options for either playing backups on Saturn hardware or emulating?
I tried yabause on my laptop (i7, intel4000 video) with retroarch and it was pretty rough.
I would love to play on the original hardware but there is no way I'm going to find the games I want to play at a price I can afford (and fuck optical drives.... Maybe okay if I can burn the games but still... )
So what are my options? I saw the video of that hardware hacker who got backups running off a sdcard, but a option I can buy looks a good while out.
get a mod chip and burn discs
>>3423435
This, or a $40 mod chip that's becoming increasingly hard to find or a modified Action Replay 4m+ (Pseudo Saturn) that lets you do the swap trick without split-second timing and grabbing spinning discs
Any idea how this multitap worked?
I mean, it supports four controllers and a memory card (or even four of them?) over one controller connector.
How it's that even possible?
>>3423404
Just like on most other consolesit just werks
>>3423404
Like a USB hub.
>>3423404
I actually wonder how the memory card part works considering the cord doesn't have a memory card end on it.
What's the best way to emulate N64 games these days? I always used Project 64 but it's been so long since I messed with something like that I don't know what my options are anymore.Didn't you guys have some kind of "emulation general" thread?
>>3423359
is still project64 :)
>n64 emulation
Any N64 emulators support XInput?
my GPU is cooked so I'm browing Abandonia for new (fuck-old) games.
recommend me some (pre-)DirectDraw games
>>3423305
>)DirectDraw
you mean direct3d
anyways, thats not really what you need
integrated gpus can handle games pre -200X even in direct3d / opengl modes
u just gotta check the specs for ur integrated and conclude if its comparable to a geforc2 or something
Cute dog
>>3423305
street rod 1+2 dos

Anyone knows this game and can tell me what I can do to make spell effects less glitchy?
It's breath of fire IV
>scanlines
yes, I suck cock
>>3423220
That's when I'm using the spell Burn, I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to look like that
>>3423220
maybe if you gave literally any information about the platform or the emulator or the settings
I enjoyed my shower today, hbu /vr/?
>buying repros
>>3423253
I thought it was someone who bought a lot of JP to make repros. But I guess repros are more like maddens and stuff.
