I've previously bought replacement rubber pads for my SNES controllers from eBay, but they were complete shit. Is there a reputable seller that provides good ones?
Alternatively does Nintendo do in-house refurbs?

>does Nintendo do inhouse refurbs
What do you think this is? 1991?
You're better off just buying a new fucking controller mate.
>>3429850
Theres snes controlers for wii...
>>3429892
they plug into a wiimote though
FUNKY
JAMMIN
RADICAL
Toe jam and Earl, so nostalic. I didn't have a snes growing up, Sega was the broke family console. Tj and Earl were senpai

I used to think SNES was by far the better console, but in recent years I've grown an appreciation for the Mega Drive due to the PSP having shit SNES emulation but near perfect MD emulation, so I played a lot of games on that. It's a really cool system with a lot of unique games, and a much different aesthetic from the SNES.
>>3429817
Went back to it.
It wasn't good.
Anyone know if there's a collection of Tips and Tricks scans somewhere? We always had a subscription when I was little and I've been feeling nostalgic.
>>3429782
I used to own that magazine but I haven't seen it for years. Loved the Kirby 64 article.
Bumping this because I'd like to get some scans too.
Tips & Tricks was the best video game magazine. It avoided the preview/review cancer and instead covered games that were already available.
The former editor-in-chief of Tips & Tricks made this website a while back
http://www.video-game-ephemera.com/
It's not related to the magazine but the articles may be of interest to some here. The video embeds are broken on the website but you can watch them here

wtf fuck sega?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFIngV3rMpo
Why didn't Sega make 32X into a handheld successor to the Game Gear instead of a tumorous add-on for the Mega Drive?
Because Sega of America were full blown retards.
>>3429747
t. SoJ
The 32x would've been so much better if SoJ hadn't cucked SoA.

Nice stars, faggot.
My motto is "forgive and forget"
But not many seem to agree with me.
>Did you guys just come out of the closet?
Heh
I don't remember Emperor Pilaf ever saying that.
>>3429785
Epic joke
Underlines the observation that Akira Toriyama draws certain things very similarly.
Is SCART the best kind of cable to use for consoles like SNES/N64/Wii/PS2?
Do you use SCART to HDMI adapters or do they cause image quality loss?
If you want to upscale rgb, do it correctly with a framemeister.
>>3429736
Never heard of that. I just want the best way to hook an old console up to a modern TV
>>3429748
Well for Wii and PS2 just use component cables and switch to/force progressive scan. For interlaced only consoles if you insist on using an hdtv you'll want to upscale correctly with something like a framemeister. Some scart to hdmi adapter will introduce significant lag and/or any number of other shits. Also, only fat SNES can output RGB without modification and ALL N64s require mods for RGB.
will we ever get a proto rom

it seems someone has a rom
I recently purchased a ps2 over a ps1 with the sole intention of playing Ps1 games. my thoughts were that the disc reader on the ps2 is better than that on the original hardware.
are there any other reasons for owning a ps1 for playing ps1 games? did i make a mistake? there are a few ps2 games i'd like to play (jak and daxter series) but mainly i'd like to focus on ps1 games here as per board rules.
>>3429557
AFAIK, the PS2 is better at playing PS1 games. quicker load times, slightly improved graphics (???), etc. it has the added bonus of playing PS2 games.
>>3429557
>my thoughts were that the disc reader on the ps2 is better than that on the original hardware.
Really? My old PSX still reads cds just fine, can't say the same thing about my PS2 fat.
>>3429557
Ps3 best for ps1. Also the last to play ps1.
Graphics get better and less load times.
I'm not very familiar with the RPG genre, as I was turned away years ago by tedious endless grinding that plagues the genre. I don't have the patience or willingness to deal with heavy grinding. It's not my cup of tea. However I've had the urge to give the genre another try since I constantly see people talking about all the great games.
I'm looking for suggestions for RPGs that are not heavy on grinding to a point where they'd be enjoyable to someone like me. It can be for any /vr/ system. Master System, Super Nintendo, Game Boy, Game Gear, PlayStation, anything. Consider me totally clueless on the games that exist. Pic related, I figured a Mario based RPG wouldn't be that hard if they were going for a broad audience, but what do I know.
Have you played Super Mario RPG?
>>3429512
try chrono trigger
chrono cross and vagrant story have no level grinding (VS may be a bit too hard for a newcommer though)
>want to buy a flashcart for my Famicom
>cheapest flashcart I can find is for NES
>would have to buy an adapter and ruin the aesthetics
reeeeeee
Then quit being a poorfag and just buy the Famicom N8.
>>3429492
It's almost double the price. I don't want to waste money, but if I got the NES one I'd have to spend money on an adapter, and 72-pin to 60-pin are twice the price of 60-pin to 72-pin.
That'll teach me for wanting to be cool and have the Famicom instead of a NES.
>>3429490
Just get the real deal from krikzz. You will never have to worry about it messing up and it's only ~$100.
I;ve got a Dreamcast and currently burned some discs:
Skies of Arcadia
Crazy Taxi
Densha de Go 2
Rainbow Cotton
Sega Rally 2
Half-Life
Could you suggest any other interesting or your favourite games?

Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2, that was my shit back when dc was still poppin
Am I forgetting something here, /vr/?
>>3429121
An somewhat obscure game for saturn, Arcana Strikes.
It's not very good from what I've played.
The famicom DBZ RPGs games use a card-based battle system.
Yes, I can think of a game that you forgot.
Saw this while getting gas this morning.
Konami really is dead, aren't they? I didn't want to believe that they don't care about the fans who made them what they are today...
I don't think there's anyone from the 80s and 90s Konami still at Konami. It's Konami in name only.
>>3429081
I wish they'd just sell off the rights to their franchises, but that won't work because they want to make sweet gambling funds off of them Silent Hill and Metal Gear gamblin' machines. Can't wait for the inevitable rape your wallet Pyramid Head scratchoffs!
>>3429074
The ceased to to make many console games. They exist like most old companies or defunct ones, to lisence old games or make pinball and stuff.
Thinking of investing in a dreamcast and anly have a limited budget and have found what seems to be a good dreamcast on ebay, I know very little about this console I only found out about them today on youtube. and wanted to know if this is a worthwhile investment? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182244229209?ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
>>3429048
buy one cheap, burn all the games to cdr. Fantastic investment.
>>3429070
That's awesome to know I had no idea you could rom games on this and I just picked up a new soldering iron after years of not making stuff, I've been trying to find a emulator but they all suck big donky dick,
So, i know you guys don't like frontends that much, but fuck it i have nowhere else to ask
Are all the frontends still shit and insanely convoluted to configurate or shit changed during these past months i was away from the scene? I'm setting up my old laptop as an emulation machine in the kids room and i wanted something pretty and easy for them to play around with without downloading dolphin porn to the HD and etcetera
Free if possible though. Heard about Hyperspin and Launchbox having paid versions, but i'm already buying this shit physical, i'm not paying for emulation ffs
Why isn't there a drag and drop type thing like OpenEmu or Boxer on Windows? That's bullshit.
>configurate
EmulationStation is a pain in the ass to set up for the first time, at least on linux. (If you use windows go kill yourself).
Once it's all set up though it's pretty nice. You can set it to launch on startup so it looks and feels like a "console".
