KARATEKA (circa 1984)
A freaking dollar? That's my soda money!
Looks like black belt from the Sega Master System
That God dammed bird, hate that fucker to this day
>listen to some old nes game music for nostalgia
>notice the music is much faster then I remember
>do some research
>turns out Europe standard (PAL) is 50hz while USA (NTSC) is 60hz
>every game is 17% slower
I have been playing on easy mode my entire childhood
why was this allowed
>>3433616
How old are that you noticed this now?
>>3433670
You fucking child.
Anyone else still playing Disciples 2?
Has anyone played Rise of the Elves - Gold (not the standard gold but the elves gold published in 2006.)?
>>3433536
This game has been sitting in my backlog for a long time, I even have it installed. Should I finally play it? I wish to beat the campaign.
>>3434060
Yeah, I would definitely recommend this. I haven't been playing it for years 'cuz i forgot about it. But recently I wanted to give it another shot. In my opinion story is really cool, kinda grim and depressing, it's not the standard good vs. evil. And battle dynamics is really neat.
>>3434081
Thanks my man, I think I'll give it a try, but first I want to tackle Silver, you ever played it?
New FF3 fan translation so I thought it would be nice to talk about the 3 Famicom games.

>>3433504
Dont forget the compilation of one and two on the famicon.
Or the msx version of one.
Nice talk.

>About ~75% of the text was taken straight from the DS remake,
Is there a game you that you have some random memory of, even though the game in particular wasn't one of your all time favorites or anything? You know, some random feeling or a sense of a particular time and place?
I had strep throat when I played this, and for some reason the cozyness of the game made it all okay. I got to stay home and play this, and even though strep throat should have sucked, I ended up having a lot of fun.
I also vividly remember playing Resident Evil with my dad. He never really paid attention to video games, but he liked RE and we would take turns playing.
>>3433309
Yeah MGS 1 I played alot with my dad as a kid. I replayed it with him a while back and we reconnected for the first time in about 10 years.
Also is Brave Fencer Musashi worth playing? I got the case and manual for free at a yard sale last year but they didn't have the disc.
This game is a fantastic party game and gets completely slept on.
>>3433519
BFM is great. You should definitely play.
The mexican runner is on game 559 out of 714, get behind him.
>aiming to beat every licenced NES game
>has already beaten every Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden and Dragon Warrior game
>recently went out and bought a Miracle Piano to beat it's shitty game, it took about 92 hours
Anyone else ever tune in, it's being going for years. I know i'm going to get memeposts but hopefully some of you will give credit where it's due.
Cool
Dugongue is already far ahead of him and will kick his ass. Quote me on this.
>eats a taco
>begs viewers to send me their videogames for free for no reason
>eats a pizza
>begs viewers to send me their money for no reason
>plays videogame for 10 minutes
>takes break
>eats another pizza
>yells at chat for asking questions
>begs for free videogames again
>complains about low viewership
>plays for another 10 minutes
>complains about Dugongue
>cries over Dugongue
>complains about his mother
>complains about his viewers again
>ends the stream
Can we all agree that Doom has bullshit secrets compared to Quake?
>Wall humping every non-descript wall
>Fun or clever
Pick one
>>3433080
Wolfenstein was even worse. You do realize the same people developed all three of these games and naturally the newer of the three is going to showcase the progress made over the years and that you are an ass for even complaining about something this trivial? Secrets are an added bonus to the game and not required for the completion of it. It complements the existing gameplay and you should be thankful that the devs were cool enough to include them for tje benefit of the consumer in the first place. God I hate some of you fucking people. Yes imad. I very mad.
>>3433080
But most of the secrets were ''switch/linedef that opens this also opens a wall somewhere else'' and you had to use your hearing to notice where it happened, also shoot-switches.
Doom also gave you teasers of the hint areas like the soulsphere in E1M2.
>>3433080
The automap should have been handled differently. This could be fixed by making the map an inventory item, saved from level to level, and once you select it, it takes a while to download, which would be triggered by killing, say, something like 20 monsters, or half those remaining.
Can anyone ID these games?
You mean if I can read katakana? Why yes I can.
>>3432925
The second one is Panzer Dragoon.
>>3432931
The second one is Grandia 2
I didn't see anyone about front mission so I'll post it here.
I have had a passing interest about the series but I only played the one that was on the DS, which I am assuming is an enhanced port of the first game on SNES.
Any recommendations of which game in the series should I play?
front mission 3 is my fav but i haven't played any newer ones yet. gun hazard is fun but totally different from the rest
>>3432803
I remember watching someone stream a bit of Gun Hazard, it was how I got interested in the series again. Most likely I'll try 3 and work from there.
I played the one on the DS which was okay expect the story which might've been good but I don't remember a single thing about it.
FM3 was for me a 9/10 game. Those training/holo missions to level up weapon skills and all that tend to be a drag. I remember wanting to level up someone's non-main weapon skill and it was boring as hell since only one mission gave enough xp to do it.
Overall excellent.
FM4 I went in after FM3 and it appeared to be good but I couldn't bring myself to care about anything going on and iirc the story jumps between two groups of protags and I didnt much care about that.
When was the last time you learned a new thing about a game you thought didn't have any surprises left? What did you learn?
Pic related. Just found out about the Japanese version of the -1 world today.
>>3432667
I learned about star punches in punch out last week
>>3432667
I lfirst earned about the Spin Dash in Sonic CD here on /vr/
>>3432667
I learned about the pawn ticket in Landstalker a few weeks ago. I've been addicted to the game as a kid and used to play it with my dad. We even had the guide book for it and it didn't mention the ticket.
Which is the best version of Daytona USA?
PSN/XBLA
>>3432648
What about PC?
>>3432648
...p... psn?
ARE YOU FUCKING HIGH? IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE GODDAM WHEEL SUPPORT.
I bought this, and hooked up my G27, ready to fly through the gears just like in the arcade, only for this steaming pile to laugh at me.
YES I'M SALTY
Retro emulation on PSP thread
I'm trying to play MGS Ghost Babel on it but every time the guards get alerted their sprite glitches out. I've tried both Masterboy and GeMP, and it's not the ROM itself because I have no issues emulating it on PC and Wii. Any advice? A quick google search only turned up one forum result asking the same question that got immediately closed by a moralfag mod.
>>3432590
I actually remember having the same issue. The answer is to simply not get caught, OP. It's a stealth game for crying out loud.
I played through the game multiple times on the PSP without issue, so if you can overlook the sprite bug--which is the only issue I remember--it's perfectly fine. I don't have a solution though.
The game doesn't run correctly on MasterBoy/whatever emulator you have. It also freezes once you enter the elevator in stage 3.
Just finish it on PC. Now get out.
>>3432590
For some reason, GBC emulation is kind of weird on PSP. It works almost perfectly, but there are a few games it messes up with. Shantae has a ton of graphical glitches that make it almost unplayable, for example.
I'm not sure if this is an error everyone has, but when I'm playing Pokémon Crystal and I use the switch on the side to put my device into sleep mode, it shuts off unless I have the Masterboy menu open, which is also annoying.
Hey, this is just sort of a general question, but do any of you know how the fuck my sega cd's save battery could even possibly still be alive?
I checked the memory today just for the hell of it and I saw it was still holding an old sonic cd save
how is that possible? the thing is absolutely ancient and hasn't even been plugged in to charge in a good long while
Its like with game carts with save batteries. i just don't get why some are dead and others aren't. is there an explanation here?
Luck I guess
>>3432376
still enough juice, that's all
They put big ass batteries in them and it doesn't take much to hold the data. Plenty of NES carts still have their save games and they're older than your Sega CD.
I'm still fuming /v/, I need somewhere to vent.
>Thrift store in my area held a huge video game event today
>Thrift store opens at 9am
>My sister and I show up at 8:30am
>we want to pick up an n64 for my 4 year old nephew so we can all play a copy of mario kart 64 that we still own (we do not own the system itself)
>I'm thinking of picking up an snes myself
>A line of 50 people are already waiting outside
>I recognize the guy at the front of the line
>the owner of one of the only retro game stores in the city
>A metal jesus wannabe that had like 2 other fat neckbeards with him
>they grab every snes, nes, and n64
>every controller, cable, zapper and even remotely decent game (ie anything thats not madden or golf)
>I know the nes were about $35 and the snes like $30, didnt even get a chance to look at the n64's
>he sells this shit for more than twice at his store.
>he sells copies of duck hunt for like $50 at his store
>I see him at the cash register with 3 carts full.
>At least 8 n64's, and I have no idea how many nes and snes he had.
>Every, EVERY, single snes that the thrift store had for sale is in his cart.
I'm so pissed off /vr/. I'm an adult that understands the concept of capitalism and the free market, but I still can't get over the fact that some piece of shit like that is willing to resort to petty shit like that. There were tons of kids with their parents, and people who seemed like they simply wanted to buy good games to actually play, not to fucking resell for twice what they bought it for.
>>3432036
I'll give some credit for his dedication though. I found out from someone that the reseller and his henchmen had been there since at least 6am. I wouldn't be surprised if he camped overnight.
Resellers suck dick. That's why I mostly stick to emulation.
>/v/
Just kidding. Why not grab a few pics of his jewery and share them on review sites and such?
Anyone have a copy of the translation patch for SD Snatcher by project melancholia?
The only thing I've found are the pre patched disks, and the second disk won't work.
here ya go bro

>>3432259
Appreciate it! But unfortunately it looks to be the same as the one I already have. When you have to load disk 2 it just keeps asking for it.
Maybe I'm messing something up?
Thanks though!
Have you tried the untranslated version?
