I am thinking of adopting a dog (tiny sized) from a shelter. How much exercise does a dog of that size need?
>>2205259
As a general rule, not much at all. But every dog is different and I've seen some little chihuahuas jogging with their human like fucking pros.
Every dog does need stimulation and exercise though. So do factor in a walk in your day.
>>2205259
Size has nothing to do with exercise needs. What breed is it?
>>2205259
That's not a dog that is a large rat
What breed is this cat?
>>2205247
spotty kitty
>>2205247
Looks to be an adorable/cutie mix.
(The real answer is domestic short hair: it's a mutt).
His papers say he's a regular housecat, does that mean she has no breed?
He is a 10 year oldamerican pit bull terrier, he's in really great shape and has super great temperment. I want to find a female (same breed of course) he can breed with so I can keep his family line going. Can anyone help me, I have no idea what i'm doing searching wise.
I'll post some more pics and a video
Here's one with his mom from a couple of years ago
Turns out I can't upload the video, I tried imgur but it doesn't support the file type
Here's a goofy one of him on my lap
Since /an/ is animals and nature, I'm amusing gardening and growing stuff is part of nature, right?
What are some vital vegetables and fruits to grow for being self sufficient, but in a minimal space environment?
Tomatoes and potatoes seem important to me, what are some other important things to grow and eat as a main food source besides hunted meat and chicken eggs?
>>2205206
Sweet, spicy, and bell peppers can easily be grown in medium to large pots. Both all year round indoors and outside!
Strawberries are also super easy to grow at home in pots. Most stores like Lowes even have pots specially designed for growing strawberries.
>>2205220
w8, you can grow normal, sweet peppers indoors?
would it be possible to overwinter my plants inside?
>>2205238
Yep, although to be honest, if they are not near a window that gets direct sunlight at least part of the day then you will have to supplement with artificial lighting.
But this is easy, all you need is a daylight grade CLF bulb and a metal hallide lamp. Both are super cheap.
What the fuck happened to this breed
The breed became obsolete, and squat, ugly nasty people took hold of it post-war, taking the breed in a direction to appear like themselves.
Those still exist. They're called Hinks Bull Terriers. They're rare but people still breed them.
I don't understand the exact decision on why they changed the muzzle. There's no practical reason for it and, despite what they say, it isn't historical either. They probably just wanted a unique looking breed since the original is similar to a Staffie.
"breeders" happened.
Breeders are the worst enemy of dogs.
I'm looking to buy the Little Friends Triple Metal Rat/Chinchilla/Ferret cage for a pair of female rats I will be getting in a few weeks. I quite like this cage as it's a decent size, a shape that I actually like and it has three levels so it offers plenty of space for toys etc. And this is where my question lies - how on earth do I decorate the cage? Could you guys post some pictures of your rat cages (and rats!) to give me some inspiration?
Also, if anyone knows where I can buy fleece in the UK I'd appreciate pointing in the right direction, I don't want to buy off eBay as I'd like to actually see and feel it first. Thanks!
(Pic related, it's the cage I'm getting)
>>2205178
I don't know if it would work for what you want, but they actually make kitten cages that are pretty fucking big. I imagine original idea was to display kittens at a pet store, but you can get them kinda cheap because no one sells kittens at a store.
Fabrics like that you'd be able to find in an Art's and crafts store. You might also want to put cardboard along the sides if you're worried about mess or privacy.
>>2205196
I would imagine the bar spacing in these types of cages would be too big for young and female rats, or am I wrong? I'm pretty set on the cage above though.
The only craft store near me is Hobby Craft, I can pop over after work - hopefully I can make it before they shut. Thanks for the suggestion!
Okay another question - how do I get my dog to think of the rats as friends, not food?
Also, are there any dangers (to the dog) with having rats in the room she sleeps in? Ie can they make her sick?
Pic somewhat related I guess, my dog looks like that but with floppy ears.
what the fuck is this
i am in switzerland, send evac asap

ok i was here a little while ago with a terrible blurry picture + poor drawing for you guys to identify, but now im back with a much better photo. the red is blood stains from and earlier spill i had, do you think he was into it?
Where do you live? Country/state
>>2205118
sorry, southern ontario. very rare that i find anything other than yellow sacs in my home so i thought id ask you guys about it
woodlouse spider, harmless just like every other north american spider.
Where is the best place to get one of these?
I can never find one in a pet store but apparently they are like the most common basic ass spider on earth.
Is there somewhere online you can order them? I'd rather get one in a store and not online so I know it's healthy and it wont show up dead at my doorstep but I don't even know where to look for one, no pet store I've ever been to has ever had one. Where the hell do people get these guys?
>NB4 Go to Mexico and find one
It would probably be cheaper to own a pet Mexican than drive that far.
>>2205062
I assume that's a really easy answer for someone in the U.S.
So I'll bump with some of my rare tarantulas
Grammostela Albina
>>2205096
I'm actually in the US and i can;t find one, that why I'm asking. I can;t believe how hard they are to get for me. It seems like your only hope is if there is a breeder in town who is selling them which of course in my podunk shithole there isn't.
>>2205096
I was going to talk shit but then you post made me realize not everyone has muh freedoms.
Op should still be able to use a search engine...
BTW I hate spiders.
Caught a tarantula- it got out, found it in the hallway one night going to take a leak.
Probably hit the ceiling and almost had a heart attack.
Look so I read that almonds and macadamias arent bad for cats so is there anything wrong with chewing up some UNSALTED nuts and feeding them to my 9 week old kitten like a bird because i did it with some almonds and he liked it.
OK I JUST READ MACADAMIAS ARE BAD
but apparently almonds are fine
is it ok if he eats some of my spit
hy I hate everyone in this room and I am never coming back

Tort: Piece of shit who thinks he is better than everyone else. Constantly calls people weird, creepy and autistic. Has no humility. Barely talks and has no genuine interest in meeting new people or friends except for the few he made years ago.
Permit: Basically the same as tort except he pretends he is your friend then laughs about how stupid you are to your face. Basically a gigantic normie who just comes to the room to laugh at misfortune people(and not even like mentally retarded people like just people who arnt normies)
Alex2: Just an overall narcisst that gets to caught up with trying to act cool and forgets that he is on the internet.
Gay: Lesbian who jokingly lies on the internet but when you ask her why she lies she pretends like your retarded and cant remember things from 20 minutes ago
Kro: Overall faggot who is just a normie basically the same as permit.
Boyaka: Basically the same as permit and Kro and other normies but openly and commonly shows the only reason he comes to the room is to hit on girls and laugh at all the losers.
Bread: I cant say enough about this faggot. I really he hopes he dies. I never liked him. He is old. Normie to a point. Likes to flaunt his normieness and pretends he is something he isnt. Indulges way too much in random chat humor.

I wonder how many of these are sitting in shelters now that the doge meme has run its course
>>2204917
Send one my way I think they're adorable.
>>2204931
And just give it to a different shelter to save you about 6 months of hell.
This is a thread dedicated to little known and or unusual animals. Post a picture of one, and explain it. What I posted is a Saiga antelope, a relic of the ice age, however it's been hunted to near extinction. Thankfully it's a protected species and hopefully it can restore the population it once had.
>>2204788
These guys had half their population wiped out by disease either this year or last, very recent tragedy.

I was never allowed to have pets because of my mother's allergies, so the moment I moved in with my boyfriend I got myself my dream dog: a border collie. He's about 5 months now, and he is the cutest little guy ever. He learned how to sit, and stay, and I can safely walk him without a leash now, but he can't seem to pee outside. As a puppy before his vaccines we trained him to pee on some mats we bought, and it was all okay. Recently he will pee in the living room away from his mat, which isn't cute at all. We've been trying to keep him outside to pee to save us the trouble, but I guess peeing on the mat is so ingrained that he will hold it FOR AN HOUR until he goes back inside. My boyfriend has been trying to help me out as his husky is very well trained but we can't get through to my baby! Any advise?
>>2204727
Throw the mat away or put it outside
>>2204727
>we trained him to pee on some mats we bought
this is where you fucked up. mats fuck up training; I don't know why they exist. now you're going to have to gradually move the mat outside.
>>2204727
>I can safely walk him without a leash now,
Please, no. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. If you love them, keep them on a leash. My dogs can recall perfectly fine, but you never know if something more interesting than my voice is going to show up. Maybe on the other side of the street when a car is coming, or maybe 3 miles away they hear a dog howling. You never know.
Hello /an/
I currently own 2 leopard geckos, a crested gecko and a white's tree frog
it's not enough
it's never enough
I have a 60x48x40 wood & screen enclosure, it's currently empty
Three sides screen, front glass and top screen
What can I put inside it?
Help me sate my hunger for new reptiles
no chameleons
Pic related, my crestie being a diva
Have you thought about getting a chameleon?
>>2204625
All of that screen is going to be an issue both for heat and humidity retention. If you replace the screen with glass or clear acrylic you could do a small snake like a kenyan sand boa, rosy boa, or male children's python.
>>2204625
Bearded dragon or tegu or euromastyx
.>>2204637
Sand boas are cool but a happy sand boa is an invisible sand boa.
Rosy boas are the best reptile ever.
