My neighbor beat his dog for 20 straight minutes last night. For 20 straight minutes the dog screamed at the top of its lungs while he yelled at it. I could hear him throwing it at the walls in his garage. This is the 3rd time I've heard this happening. All 3 times I've called 911. All 3 times all the cop did was drive by slowly and leave. I've submitted reports to animal abuse investigators many times. Nothing has been done, hes still doing it. Cats are left in the street mutilated and I've heard them screaming from his house as well.

Please help me figure out what I can do to make this guys life a little more miserable. I want to take things into my own hands. I don't want to get in trouble of course, but I'm not exactly looking for legal options since the system is failing on this issue.

Any suggestions? Legal or not. He's huge, hes a marine I believe. I can't physically hurt him. So that's not really an option.

I mean if you feel so strongly that you have called the authorities several times, as well as make a thread here, then surely you are concerned enough to talk to the man face to face, right?

what's that cat thinking about ?

Killing.
It's the only thing cats ever think about

What are some good activities for a high energy breed aside from hiking, walks and dog parks? Specifically for along the hound/baying dogs line. I have some experience with border collies and Ive seen ton of corgis, heelers and cattle dogs as more family dogs then working ones but not hounds and curs.

Pic related but I don't have one. I have a yard and a close friend and neighbor right by me with some acres but they aren't hunting nor have livestock yet either while they add onto their house.

mushing is pretty cool and your dog will probably love it:
https://youtu.be/QNQmWSmAFPo

you can just use a mountainbike for it, no need to get a scooter. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bikejoring

make sure you inform yourself before you start tho (like with any high intensity dog sport)

here is an introduction:
http://www.clickertraining.com/node/1118

specifically wrt breed / physical appearance:
>The perfect physique for pulling is that of the Siberian husky and the Alaskan malamute. [...] The closer the dog looks to the picture the better

not sure about hounds, as they were bred for sprinting speed without having to pull weight. So you should probably go easy on him
>>
>>2210802
Yeah that looks fun. I ride a bike an average 10-15 miles a day. My concern would be the dog stopping when I need it too but thats normal anyway if you're riding a bike even with a dog at your side and not getting distracted by an animal to want to bolt after it. (My own dog used too, but these dogs are more high energy and bred as trackers/baying so I want to prepare for the worst of it). Im sure I can find more info though so thanks for the suggestion.

I'm also interested in seeing about finding programs or classes for search and rescues. I'd like to be able to put that nose to use. Seems like even tracking for fun would be good.

My dog always follows me around when we're at home, but doesn't seem to want any affection; when I slowly reach in to pet him he usually turns his head away. He always seems to be wanting something though (he whines a lot) despite I keep his dishes full and take him on 30-minute walks four times daily.

What are your comments on this behavior?

Relax and take a deep breath.

Remember that all of us will die sooner or later, and that you are doing the right thing by trying to save him, regardless of how it turns out.

I wish you and your cat the best.
>>
>>2210684
That sucks anon. My cat is prone to that and I've had to take him to the vet twice because he got stopped up.

Luckily he was acting really weird and i caught him trying to squat every few minuites and licking himself a lot.

It can be bad because it can back up their kidneys. I hope everything works out OP.
>>
>>2210684
I hope he pulls through, but it's a common issue with male cats, and you did good noticing it before it was entirely too late. A lot of people wouldn't have noticed for weeks.

I think that's a morio beetle. Last life stage of a superworm.

That sounds metal is fuck, I'd keep it in a separate bin desu.

Hi,

I recently adopted an american akita, and have some questions. He has been with us for 1.5 week now. And is 2 years and 7 months old now.

-today while running free in a dog park he bit me when i tried to correct him when he was trying to hump another male. He is not neutered. What would be your advise? We realy dont want to get rid of him which is often advised when a dog bites a human. Is there any coming back from this? and what is a reasonable time to expect him to see me as his new owner?

-Should we neuter him? Will this fix his behavior problems? He is so nice when he's in our home, very playful and almost always listens. when outside he gets distracted and does not listen.

-how should i go about correcting/punishing an Akita when he does things we don't like. Like jumping/licking our guests, i tried grabbing the back of his neck when he snaps at me. Thats how i got bit.

this is literally always a yes

if not: training him will fix his behavior problems, but you should neuter him anyway.

>i tried grabbing the back of his neck
he wasn't wearing a collar in the dog park?

There's like 5 of them always aimlessly meandering around in the air whenever I go into my pantry. Shit's annoying and I'm actually concerned for my health now.

that's a meal moth

they lay eggs in flour, rice, clothes and shit. harmless when ingested, you just get some extra protein and a bit of an odd nutty taste.

pantry moths

they aren't going to hurt you, but to get rid of them you need to start keeping grains and stuff in the freezer.
>>
Check all your grains and natural wool socks/scarfs, somewhere must be their larvae. Also they can and will leave holes a fur coat if it's infested, that's about the worst thing they may do.

About a month ago I bought my first fish tank. I've been unemployed all summer and was looking for a pet I could keep without my landlord knowing. I've really enjoyed having them so far but I've noticed guys on fish-keeping forums are some of the most obnoxious pet-owners that I've ever come across. So what type of pet-owner does /an/ think is the most obnoxious?

For me it's people that own fish and anyone that insists on dressing their dog in ridiculous costumes.

Well if you're going to put a large fish in a small tank you deserve to be knocked down a few pegs m8. For me it's reptile owners though.

So I recently bought a 10 week old Shiba Inu here in Japan(husband got it for me for my birthday). Ive absolutely no experience in raising or training dogs properly. Back When I lived with my parents, we had the entire household to contribute to raising our dog and they still have bad habits. I'll be raising the puppy myself for the next 2 months and I need to be steered in the right direction as far as how to discipline this dog, rewarding him, etc. My Japanese Vet says we are not to take him outside for walks until he's had his last shot that's scheduled 3 weeks from now. For now I can't do much as far as leash training. I do take him to my front yard to pee and poop. But he seems to have an overactive bladder that no matter how little water I give him he will pee 12 times a day. A few things I will need him to be excessively capable of is minding me on the commands of, "down", "sit", "come", and "stay". Also need tips on how to handle disciplinary action on behavior that's unwanted such as chewing on hands when you hold him, chewing on carpet, furniture, and Disciplinary action for peeing in the house, disciplinary advice on all the above. Thanks in advance for anyone willing to throw me some advice here. PS his name is Louie.

the dog is NEVER going to understand why he is being punished.
it'll just be a random beating to him. great way to start off your relationship with him, really builds trust
