What breed is this cat?
>>
>>2205247
spotty kitty
>>
>>2205247
Looks to be an adorable/cutie mix.

(The real answer is domestic short hair: it's a mutt).

His papers say he's a regular housecat, does that mean she has no breed?
>>
Cat owners don't get this but most cats are not purebred. Even ones that look pure probably aren't.

Does it really look pregnant? How old do you think is she? I know next to nothing when it comes to cats but I can tell that it's a female. I found it my yard but she was the most friendliest cat I've ever met. I live in a third world country and I don't think there's even proper vets.
>>
>>2205310
Forgot pic?
>>
>>2205304
Random people with cats don't get it, but every single actual catfag will tell you that you cat is a domestic X hair unless it has papers, and even then that can still be quite the 'if'.

There is just an obsession with breed among dogs, so it ends up naturally bleeding over to cats, with people wondering if their cat is some mix of breeds, while most people who ask this question can probably only name one or two actual breeds of cats.
>>
>>2205315
I mean, so many cat breeds are similar. Aren't the American shorthair and the British shothair just another names for mutt cats? What's the difference between a Cornish Rex and a Devon Rex? What is life?

No, British Shorthair and American Shorthair are actual breeds.
>>
>>2205317
Don't know the difference between a British and American shorthair, but Devons and Cornishs have very different coats.
>>
>>2205320
I don't really care enough to think about it much
>>
>>2205324
That is a good thing really. Pedigreed cats is a black, endless abyss of autism that you want nothing to do with. But just like dogs, these Pedigreed cats do have breed standards as maintained by the various Cat Fancier associations.

If I was in a bar in dublin and met a redhead with green eyes, freckles and skin so pale she glows in the dark- who mentioned her grandfather was from the ukraine- would you suddenly not think of her as Irish?

This is the issue with labeling things as "domestic xxx".
Sure they're mutts, but they still have traits representative of breeds.

A better option is to define what breed standards it matches and call it a " xxx mix".

You can have 3 "domestic longhairs" that do not share any common ancestors
One could have the long hair from a Turkish angora.
One could have longhair from a Maine coon
One could have long hair from a Norwegian forest cat.
>>
>>2205426
I'm not talking about paperwork.
I'm talking about genetic traits- both mental and physical.
Cats were bred for different purposes, just like dogs.
Mousers- for keeping down rodent populations in homes and food stores.
Lapcats- for keeping the elderly warm before central heating.
Play cats- for entertainment.
Etc.
So even though its a mutt, it still inherited traits from its ancestors and will behave differently than another mutt cat.

You wouldn't get a chihuahua mix and expect it to be a good hunting dog.
But a lab mix may do very well out in a dove field, even though he's not a purebred or papered.

But according to your mentality- those dogs are the same.

Cats don't magically have their DNA changed to a "domestic longhair" just because its a mix and unpapered. They still have specific traits from their ancestors, which vary as much between cat breeds as they do with dog breeds.
>>
>>2205439
Your post is uneducated garbage.

Go research some cat breeds.
>>
>>2205431
>Cats were bred for different purposes, just like dogs.
>Mousers- for keeping down rodent populations in homes and food stores.
>Lapcats- for keeping the elderly warm before central heating.
>Play cats- for entertainment.
none of that is true
>So even though its a mutt, it still inherited traits from its ancestors and will behave differently than another mutt cat.
most of it's ancestors were not in a breed either. they're just cats, never bred for anything in particular.
>which vary as much between cat breeds as they do with dog breeds.
that's crazy, nobody really believes that
>>
domestic is not analogous to mutt, it's more like a landrace.

So wise one, why were wild cats tamed, domesticated and breeds developed?
>>
>>2205468
For decoration.
>>
>>2205468
>So wise one, why were wild cats tamed, domesticated
they're nice to have around.
>breeds developed
conspicuous consumption.
>>
>>2205474
>originally bred from tamed carp used to control insects in rice paddys. It became common to breed more colorful varieties that ere easier to spot while working in the fields and locate to move to other fields.

Just because your only experience with goldfish (or cats) is limited to decoration doesn't change history.
>>
>>2205474
I like your other name better: bugguy
>>
>>2205247
It's a pregnant (or very ill) moggy, domestic shorthair, in other words it's a mutt. Probably no purebred in it's entire ancestry.
>>
>>2205522
How can you tell that it's pregnant or ill? It looks and acts very healthy to me.

>>2205549

I know right. She's also the sweetest cat I know.
She come running over me meowing every time she sees me.
She wait outside my house for me to come out and pet her.
When I get out of my car, she hop in and start rubbing herself on me.
I love her so much!
She also hiss at every other cat that comes near me. She adopted me lol.
>>
>>2205542
The ones that were eventually bred as pets were a status symbol and expensive/very controlled. Only the emperor was allowed yellow specimens.

Only after they had been bred for insect control did they become popular as "pets", and this was long before electricity was invented.
This is an animal that was raised over a thousand years ago- just because its disposable in the modern world has no correlation with its original intent.

You have very little knowledge of anything outside of your own tiny little world.
>>
>>2205679
You're welcome. That's a very nice looking cat.
>>
Why do cats even need paperwork? They can't read.
>>
>>2206023
I don't agree that you can call any animal "disposable". They have value beyond aesthetics and arbitrary factors like heritage.
>>
>>2206033
I don't care what it's heritage is. My pets are living beings and I have no right to mistreat them, no more than I could go out and abuse a wild animal. I could care less what the breeding history of my animals are since I have no intention of breeding any of the animals I keep (except for my idiot fish, who kind of do their own thang).

Can someone identify my cat's breed? I'm not much of a cat person, though I have owned several. His name's Wilhelm.

That's fair. I don't know what objective value you can claim any life has, though.

Looks very much like a DSH mutt

He looks old cat patrician-tier.
>>
>>2207229
He's pretty great. He's about 3 years old if I'm not mistaken.
>>
>>2205589
Its a mutt but the colouring is called a dilute torti
>>
>>2205247
Please don't genitally mutilate it, aka spay/neuter

This leads to chronic complications and you will have to watch its diet

If it's a male, let it live outside as he might spray urine
If it's a female, keep her locked indoors when she's in heat, and use acupressure + qtip

Don't get moved by the emotional manipulation and false statistics peddled by shill pieces of shit who work for total and fascistic control of the living
Sterile monsatan seeds / neutered pets : same ideology at work
