I can't stand how anime it got with all the waifus and parents system complicating things more than it should.

Even the Seisen no Keifu wife system was better.

I'd recommend this if this is your only option.
If you have a PSP or can emulate, play that one instead.

Wonderswan Color is the best.
PS1 is fine if you can control yourself.

You're asking for a comparison between a version that uses the original magic system and a version that has the more modern MP system.

These are basically different games. I've enjoyed playing versions that feature the original system a lot more, versions using the new system GBA included are very, very easy.

There is a fix, but how you do it varies model to model.

Some can have their geometry tweaked through a remote control or service menu, while others (including mine) require that you take the case off and twist dials on the monitor's PCB.

The latter of the two is incredibly dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. As you need to see the screen (whilst it's on) to adjust the geometry, you're at risk of a fatal shock if you slip.

If you're serious about fixing it though, use the 240p Test Suite as it has various features like putting grids on screen via the console of your choice to correctly line the monitor's output.

I have the PVM-14N6U model, it didn't come with the remote unfortunately. I have no idea to know if I would be able to access the service menu unless I get a universal remote, correct?

Either way, I wouldn't want to risk fatal shock as I am not the most electronically inclined. Would I need a SD2SNES to run the 240p Test suite? I was thinking of ordering one so anyway.

PVMs dont use remotes.

You can find a horizontal size/position setting in the menu.

You dont need 240p test suite or to open the set if all you want to do is move the image to the right a little.

I stopped playing an hour into disc 2. I was pretty disappointed to see shit getting gutted hardcore with the intro.

I know its all because of devs running out of time, but it ruined the mood for me. Was really tired of the combat at that point as well.
I did watch a couple of videos detailing the core plot afterwards, and everything sounded pretty fucking awesome when being told by someone who understand it.

I dunno, its easy to bash the main story for being a mess due to translation/cut content, but I still enjoyed disc 1 quite a bit. I wish I knew moon runes so I can give the game a proper review, since there's like a billion mistranslations and gutted out dialogue in the Western version.

I got a fucking headache every time the game cut into these retards. I'm sure plot-wise those scenes were supposed to be mysterious, but add that with the translation, and it was migraine inducing to try and decrypt their dialogue.

Would have made a better anime than a game.

Xenogears is the first jRPG I ever played that truly made me feel like the writers gave a shit. The actual gameplay itself is only slightly above average in comparison to other PS1 rpgs, but damn. dat story. They were on weed. The good kind of weed.

I like the first one, don't like the second one. The second one forgoes a charming cast and instead puts a worthless bitch who can't even get off her ass to cast some spells in battle unless everyone else is dead. And the entire first disc is an escort quest with nothing else going on.

Got mine day one, went to work early and finished early so I could wait in line, they opened an hour early, and the Jamba Juice next door gave everyone free smoothies.

This probably won't help with the lag but you need to go into the sd2snes menu and turn off in game hooks and or supercic if you experience graphical glitches. I had Simao problems and that cleared it up completely. Also the latest firmware cleaned up a lot of the cic issues so make sure you're on the latest firmware invade you want to keep the cic stuff like soft reset.

Yes the game definitely has some slowdown when there's a lot of enemies on screen. I'm not sure about the battle screen glitch though.
