What's your favorite /vr/ mech?
Nothing beats Viper 2 IMO.
Explosive, Invincible,
BANGAI-O!

I like SD robots
>did Zelda better than Zelda
>forgotten by history
Crystalis is still fondly remembered, it even got a GBC remake and speedrun community.
The combat is better but it's more linear than Zelda and there's a certain amount of stupid puzzle shit that you have to go through. Like starting that windmill or whatever it was at the beginning of the game.
It's sort of like if classic Zelda followed the formula of a modern Zelda game. Not bad, but whether that makes it better or worse depends on the player's tastes.

It might be forgotten by history, but it's not forgotten by me. One of the NES's finest games, I'll pick it over Zelda any daybecause I hate Zelda in general

>>3717610
Yeah, that is a shame. But it's fine.
Is it just me, or is Earthworm Jim 2 actually superior to the first game?
>>3717487
It's certainly more possible to pass the first three levels without throwing your controller through a window... unlike the first one.
>>3717487
I wish there were more real levels instead of shit like 3 Puppy Loves, Villi People, and Flying King.
>>3717492
New Junk City wasn't hard (and had the best soundtrack), What the Heck was perfectly doable too. Only the one with bees and big red dudes was kind of annoying for me.I hope I'm actually remembering the first 3 levels correctly.
just got this from a friend, damn its sweet, is it reasonable to beat this in one sitting? game doesn't save
also did nintendo just stop giving a fuck from GBC forward?
because i think all the best games for game boy classic outclass anything on color, GBA, DS etc

You could probably do it if you spent an entire day playing.
You should check out Oracle of Seasons/Ages too if you haven't already.
It's possible but it might take you the whole day.
And if you're not using walkthroughs (which you shouldn't), you might get stuck, especially on the later dungeons.
try to replace that battery.
Nostalgia one hell of a drug.

Tibia is a top down mmorpg from 1997. It was very popular in the early 2000s, and it still has a substantial amount of players.
It has a huge world which the player can explore and has a lot to do in terms of hunting and quests.
Currently we are on the world secura, a non pvp server. The official guild is yotsubas, and to apply you write your name here and we'll invite you. New players will get help with gear and on what to do, and help with hunting.
Latest news:
Between the 23rd and 27th december monster will give two times the experience.

Yeah, I know this game. A lot of fun back in the day.
I forgot to add that the 20th anniversary is coming up in just 2 days. Bound to be lots of ingame events and stuff going on.

Astera here.
Still love this game, although I spend months away from it.
Was binge playing a week or so ago and died at Darashia DL's so it's time to take another break haha.
anyone on /vr/ following Daggerfall Unity development?
http://www.dfworkshop.net/
Nobody cares about remakes unless they're done in Unreal.
That seems like an awful lot of time and effort for something that's still going to be just as crushingly dull and monotonous to play as Daggerfall. Like wow it's running in a modern engine but fuck, it's still Daggerfall.

This. I'm hoping there's some kind of mod support or some huge improvements to actually justify playing it.
So it turns out that Fujiwara was dead set against Mega Man 2. Fujiwara is normally portrayed as a hero himself, but it seems that he's the villain in this story.
Also seems to explain why Kitamura left after MM2. Normally after such a huge success as that, the guy would rise in the company and get way more power. MM2 was one of the most successful games the company had made up to that point. On the Famicom version of Ghost n Goblins had sold more. If he had stayed with Capcom, Kitamura would probably be as well known and respected as any of the other big Japanese devs.
Interesting.
>he's a strange person - real strange
>he just can't get on with people
>they made him do console, because nobody wanted him
Fujiwara isn't known as a hero, he's known as a harsh guy, although people like Shinji Mikami consider him a master of game development philosophy, he calls Fujiwara an "evil master".
Also, I don't get it. Kitamura wanted to make Rockman 2, Fujiwara said no, he left, then they made Rockman 2 anyway? So what's the problem? Maybe if Kitamura did Rockman 2, it wouldn't have been as great as it ended up being.
What's the story with Light Crusader's western-style presentation? I can't find any info on why Treasure decided to go this route when all the rest of their games have an anime aesthetic.
Not every game needs to be animu waifu bait, you know.
>>3717151
No shit, Light Crusader is fucking great
I'm just wondering why the change.
>>3717153
Maybe they developed good taste for once. Maybe that was a marketing ploy, I don't know, didn't they market the Mega Drive as a westernized console in japan?
Why are gamesharks so unreliable?

What's the best Mega Man game for the NES?

the one with iceman in it.
>>3716809
>the one with iceman in it.
They all have Ice Man, you dingus. Each game in the series has a robot master with the ice ability.
Who are you guys' favorite robot master?
Mega Man Legends 1 and 2 were unsung masterpieces, since Crapcom decided to shit on the fanbase by not releasing the sequel, they should remake these games.
Part of the charm is how PS1-janky they are, if they had a modern engine and proper VA-ing they wouldn't be worth touching
>>3716732
Those games are completely broken, you can easily win by just running in circles for the most part.
I only like them because they have cute girls.
>>3716774
>Those games are completely broken
Meh, most 3D action-adventure titles of the title could really classify as that (Hell, one could easily cheese through most of OoT's battles via the Z-targeting system alone). No skin off my bones.
I've been looking for a cheap alternative to Krikzz's Everdrive 64, and this definitely seems to be the cheapest.
Does anyone have one of these things? What's it like?
>>3716628
It works great but I had to download the os from a tutorial webpage because it doesn't come
With it.
About an hour of head scratching later and I was finally playing doom 64.

Yo, you guys remember that Silent Hill game on ps1 right? Remember how fucking scary it was considered at the time.
Full on I was the dumbest sperg of a kid and thought to myself "I should give this to my cousin cause he loves scary stuff for christmas" I was like 6 at the time and saw very little of the game right. So I give it to him and he's like excited to play it and happy but his mum tells him not to play til the next day. So I come across him at his home some days later and he's like shaking and talking about how scary it was. He tells me years later at a Christmas that I was a pretty fucked six year old.
Anyone have any other reactions they thought of the game at the time?
I look at it now as pretty interesting to research into.
