I have been using my Wii for emulation on an LCD TV and find it to be a great all-in-one emulator box. I've been using official composite cables but have recently switched to component.
The image becomes sharper and the colors look better, but there's always noise on the image. I get horizontal noise-bars that sometimes scroll, and also the borders of text windows seem to have bleed colors. It's almost unnoticeable during gameplay but very noticable on monotone core, especially black.
The cable I'm using is official. Do all Wii suck a little like this or is there a problem with my setup?

Wii is probably outputting 480p, and your TV is very likely 1080p. It doesn't scale perfectly at a 1:1 ratio, and that can cause things to look off.
If your TV is 720p, force the Wii to output 240p, as it's a perfect 3x scale. it will look better.
Just buy an android box and pair a dualshock 3 to it.
I use a wii2HDMI and have it running at 480p with no upscaling. Best way to play imo.

What are the oddest ports you know of?
Pic related, SF II: Hyper fighting on the plane.
It's 1 player only and choppy.
>>3721105
Wait, what? Plane, as in, an acutal fucking airplane? Was it on one of those "Childeren's game console" you could order for the flight or was it built in to the television screens that are embedded above the chair?
Also, the strangest port I've seen has to be Doom on the ZX Spectrum.

Actual plane screen on the chair.
What went wrong?

it it better then this?
Should have had a double speed CD-ROM.
pros/cons?
pros: Suikoden series is pretty neat, I guess.
cons: not retro

This. Halo 2 is retro since 2008, guys. Admit and get over it. Same with Messi and PSDouble.
Post favorite PSone games.
I loved this game when it first came out.
I tried playing it recently and it controls like shit.
controls like 007 goldeneye, but worse. I hated oo7 too.
>>3720860
how worse? you can move around, you can strafe. you have a crosshair button like in goldeneye.
play it with a dpad, not analog stick.

Is this even possible with a gamepad? I know for a fact that is nearly impossible in Quake
I was curious if it would be possible to make old pc games like fallout or dungeon keeper compatible to play on a dreamcasts windows ce operating system? I mean the dreamcast has a mouse and keyboard... I think it would be awesome.
No. You can't make x86 programs run on a SuperH processor without virtualization.
You won't even get them to run on a Xbox.
>>3720802
So it's impossible?
>>3720807
The idea with Windows CE on Dreamcast was to have Windows library functions available on the system to make it easier to port PC games to the console. If you have the source code to a 90's Windows game, then it might in theory be easier to port it to the Dreamcast, since you could share some of the same library function calls, but it's never going to happen without being able to modify and compile the source code to a game.

Name a harder retro game.
>>3720528
Seeing as the holy diver cart is made of plastic i imagine this custom gold atari 2600 and it's game cases are, in fact, harder due to gold being a more solid substance then plastic.

yeah, probably not a big deal if I could maintain and take care of every game I own but I share my shit with relatives - I'm better off just emulating most things instead of trying to collect
I am a huge fan of this series. Strangely enough, I never beat any of them due to the fact I couldn't give up my beloved monsters for breeding.
I'm replaying DWM2 with my Super Gameboy and I'm a bit surprised at how enigmatic the breeding system is. There's very little guidance as to what is worthwhile and what is a waste. Now we have guides and google image search but back in the day it was hugely trial and error.
It's still impressive for GBC hardware - just wish the SGB had color
I think the ranking system from Joker really helped out the Dragon Quest Monsters series immensely. It's kind of a pain in the ass to breed in the original Dragon Quest Monsters because there's no real way to tell which monsters are better than others (except for obvious ones like boss monsters).
I don't think that Dragon Quest Monsters holds up very well. It's way too slow and menus/battles take too long to load, even for a Game Boy game. That said, I did have some fun with it, and I was able to just barely beat the Master Battle.
I am severely annoyed over how many times the translations pchanged throughout the series.
Imagine pikachu was called zapmouse in a sequel and then electrachu in another game
figured there would be more love for this series

An evil version of Shining Force would be gnarly.
>good defeats evil, as it always does
>evil heroes are banished to shitty places
>eventually some jackass plunders a tomb and sets one of them free as per usual
>an ancient evil awakens
>i mean literally, they're just old as fuck and they can't really fight anymore. the ways of evil must be passed on to a younger generation. the old days weren't so bad. they were just...different
>meanwhile in the cities good guys become totally oppressive & totalitarian & paranoid. people are miserable but of course everyone would feel guilty if they rose up against the clearly good guys. it's all there in the history books
>you must gather your party by liberating towns and villages from douchey heroes and angels with flaming swords
>why is it always flaming swords with these assholes
>fuck

eh.
other than that, I'd play Shining Force from the perspective of evil
yeah many rpgs would have been fun to be evil in, instead of your generic hero type
also post games where you are evil
>>3720897
Dark Half had a really interesting take on playing as the evil guy (as well as the good guy), and now that I think about it there's a twist that's really, really close to some of OP's ideas.
