I bought 2 of the last edition for £60 each then resold them both sealed for £100 at christmas on ebay.
When I was young I saw the original boxed game for £10 pounds a box in a shop on the coast. It probably inflated in price more than gold since then.
>>
>>50454113
>this time
I bought it the first time around. Just the tiles/counters/rules, though. I split the cost with someone who wanted the models.

My players killed a mad leshy. After the fight, a druidess killed a raven and put it in the place of the leshy's heart.
Now they are on their quest to revive him as a benign spirit - but I don't think I should leave the issue of the dead bird. The heart was supposed to be corrupting (now held by one of the PCs) and leshy could raise undead. You know, putting dead things inside another dead thing that could raise undead doesn't sound like a good idea.

Well, I guess I forgot the question, so:
What could happen from an union of a raven and a leshy cadaver? Should I turn it into something fearsome or, maybe, add wings to the leshy once it's reborn as a good spirit?

This is technically for a vidya, but it could in theory be played on tabletop and this particular slice of the mechanics looks very like a wargame/miniature game so I figured /tg/ would know best what to say about it
>center arrow indicates where the character is (large dot) and what direction they're facing (arrowhead); for convenience, the position/facing is always the same, but a different facing yields the "same" threat distribution rotated appropriately
>medium-sized dark (but not black) dots indicate where in the field a particular weapon type can center its attack; a line connected to a tiny dot indicates that the attack targets both endpoints simultaneously
>lighter-grey dots/lines indicate what cells are targeted by melee-range special attacks using this weapon- as a general rule, the special attack footprint is three times the footprint of a regular attack
>small red and cyan dots indicate, for the one-handed weapons, what square may be protected by a shield in the off-hand; the red dot indicates where a right-handed shield-user (that is, whose off-hand is the left hand) places their shield, the cyan dot indicates where a left-handed shield-user places their shield
>any hex threatened by an enemy weapon is harder to hit from
>a line of attack that intersects a hex affected by an enemy shield is more likely to miss
>attacks from behind are more likely to hit in general, with the line opposite the facing being the best direction from which to attack

I'm pondering over how to weight the damage output of these weapon types (these nine are not exhaustive, fyi); probably the blue and red extended-reach weapon types are the most flexible, and should therefore do the least damage, but I'm not sure how to calculate that kind of advantage? And some weapon types may be restricted by class, which would also limit their broken-ness without necessarily impacting damage output.

I just came up with one in the caster thread:

You only gain experience or new abilities by electing to take risks to prototype them in combat.

Thus you can take the safe guarantee, or go wild with creativity.
>>
>>50451648
Hmm, that sounds like it'd work best if new abilities were pretty loosely arbitrated? like if the GM was expected to vet new abilities on a case-by-case basis. else you'd have a really hard time outlining how new abilities are to be weighted/vetted without severely restricting the creativity of the player... or making taking new options in combat super slow to resolve. but for a more relaxed/easy-going gamestyle that'd be pretty cool!

Okay, I'm currently preparing for a GURPS campaign where the PCs are modern day mercenaries, working for a mysterious organisation.

Pic unrelated.

The first few missions will be relatively mundane. Then the party starts to find out that they're pawns in a global secret war over strange supernatural artefacts (they all look like grey bricks and give you a spell per artefact). These artefacts drive you insane over time, of course. Get enough of them, and you invoke horrible rituals (one can destroy the world).

Point is, can you give me some ideas for covert/SpecOps missions to send the PCs on? Remember, they don't have to have supernatural or horror elements right away. And each artefact can grant corrupting arcane knowledge or a "magic" power - one per artefact and somewhat limited (maybe requires the physical artefact to be present to be used).

Do a midnight HALO jump into Raqqa to capture (not kill) Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS. He is in possession of a magic artefact that increases the savagery and bestial natures of everyone within 10 Km of it. Every drop of blood spilled near it increases its power.

Can the PCs resist the allure of the blood idol and avoid killing their target...and themselves?
>>
>>50450900
Since you're using GURPS, have you checked books like Covert Ops, Black Ops and Illuminati? IIRC they have a bunch of adventure seeds/missions you could re-use.

Whoops, posted this as the last thread died:

Can someone check whether I understand how attacks work when you stack Roil Dancer and Avant Guard/Slow Burn, when you use a multi-attack strike?

Say you're level 9 and you use a strike that allows three attacks, and you have a burn reduction of 1. You have a max limit of three burn per round but I don't know if Slow Burn removes that.

Whip usually costs 2 burn, but kinetic blademaster discounts it by 1, and your slow burn discounts it by 1, making it cost 0.
Kinetic Blademaster then lets you make three different whips with a 0 burn blast, all for free, and attack one after another without using Ignition Surge or worrying about max burn per round limits.

Then, say you want to use your 2 burn composite blast with the above.
For your first attack you can use Fight Fire with Fire with 4 animus to reduce the cost to 0 again, but because this counts as accepting 2 burn, you can't do this with the following attacks, since your burn per round is 3.

Is that right?
Stacking these archetypes is such a wild ride.
>>
>>50449978
Depends on the GM. For changing it to Cha, some Do It For Free(tm), but the "official" way is the daring hero PrC. Which is a shit solution for many, since you need level 6 before it takes effect.

So I am about to wrap up my year long DnD campaign in 2 sessions.

What are some good tropes to play on? Nice twists or even open endings. That sort of thing.

tl;dr how would you end a DnD campaign?

>>
>>50449889
It might be a bit late to reveal a big twist. Good luck. Look back to what the players have accomplished / failed to accomplish. Try to draw lines back to as many of their actions as possible.
>>
>>50449915

Hey tg/, just thinking, does the End Times ironically mean that Malal, the renegade chaos god of sensless pointless destruction (including selfdestruction), nihilism, atheism and irony, actually won the great game while not even existing?
Also, is Archaon in his quest for the destruction of everything (including chaos itself) unconsciously doing Malals bidding?

Not only is Malal non canon, but you're giving him attributes he never had.

anon what

If he would exist but ceased due to him being destroyed by other gods, then maybe. what you're saying is illogical to put it politely.
>>
>>50449770
>>50449751
Okay, let me explain XD
First, I know he is not cannon I wasnt implying GW purposely did this
Second, he doesnt exist because he got retconned by GW due to copyright issues (I think that was the case at least), but funilly enough his whole plot was about inexitance and sensless destruction, wich makes the fact he got retconned funny (IMO)
So I was just trying to point out how is funny that the only chaos god that really won something with the end of times was the inexistant god of inexistance

If I play a spell that has you sac a creature as part of the cost and that creature has a "if ~this~ dies do x" ability, wich do I do first? Does the spell resolve first and than the trigger or the other way around?
>>
>>50449794
The first step of casting a spell is to announce it and put it onto the stack. Paying all your costs in the order of your choosing (including the sacrifice, in this case) is the last step before the spell is considered "cast" in full. So, the death trigger would fire during the process of casting your spell (which is already on the stack), and go onto the stack once you're done casting it.

So your "When ~ dies, X" trigger is on the stack ABOVE your spell, and will resolve first.

Don't you think this board could use a general that is containing all those lesser known, relatively new, niche ttrpgs that can't really sustain their own threads usually?
Not just "indie" ones, or at least ones that are usually labelled as such, just ones that don't get that much attention. Some might be talked about sometimes, like Burning Wheel, The One Ring or Barbarians of Lemuria, others almost unknown, but all far below the attention systems like Shadowrun, WoD, wh40krpg, Star Wars
I'm mostly interested in purpose-crafted games which quality assesment isn't tainted by brand recognizability myself. I like to learn moar about such games. I found quite a few of them thanks to /tg/ and I think they deserve a thread of their own. To explore and discover new brilliant games and talk about them.

To start this post few of such systems, ones you know and like, with a short description.

My current favourites are
>The One Ring
Tolkien: Te RPG, modern edition. Personal favourite of me
>Heroquest: Glorantha
Narrativist game in classic, tad forgotten but recently ressurging setting of Bronze-Age mythic fantasy, pic rel

Glorantha is an awesome setting

HeroQuest is shit. Utter, utter, shit. RuneQuest forever!
>>
>>50449972
Didn't play it yet (too busy with TOR) and I don't think I'll play it anytime soon (players around are lazy cunts that won't read the fucking rulebook, ever, just have to have everything explained by the GM, and HeroQuest isn't a game that would work with players relying only on DM to handle mechanics) but I kind of like how it's mechanics are designed towards story crafting, while using simple, standard dice and not that much meta, as opposed to FATE. I like RQ too, though. But for some reason I'd rather play it as an universal system and handle Glorantha with HQ. I don't even know why, I just feel that way.
