Would your character be able to win a drinking contest against the local tavern's regulars?

Yeah, Paladins are invulnerable to poisoning or any sort of intoxication (what includes heavy drinking)

Given that my character is inspired in large part by this scene, I'd say yes.

Welcome to the Accidental Magical Girl thread!
Various worlds and multiverses have become connected together via the mysterious Overcity, a sprawling landscape inhabited by monsters and magical beings. Girls and boys endowed with their new supernatural powers can work together solving conflicts that arise!
>This is NOT a greentext adventure style CYOA with one GM and thread posting to dictate the adventure, but rather a hub thread for multiple storycrafters to use.
This thread houses three systems: First, QuasarBlack's CYOA PDFs which may be used as writing prompts. Second, AMGC which expands on the CYOA character creation and provides rules for combat. Finally, the SCS is an alternative to AMGC with a similar purpose. IRC uses mostly AMGC and Discord uses mostly SCS.
Post builds, roleplay, write stuff.

Wait, you guys survived?
Well, it's friday once again, so let's do this.
Traveller is a classic science fiction system first released in 1976. In its original release it was a general purpose SF system, but a setting was soon developed called The Third Imperium, based on classic space opera tropes of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, with a slight noir tint.
Though it can support a wide range of game types, the classic campaign involves a group of retired veterans tooling around in a spaceship, taking whatever jobs they can find in a desperate bid to stay in business, a la Firefly or Cowboy Bebop.

I have Classic and Mega CDs.
What the best place to start?
Shameless bump
>>50396096
To dig into Classic, I'd suggest looking at Starter Traveller. Megatraveller improves upon Classic by folding DGP's Universal Task Profile into the core rules, so you don't need to rule on how to handle new rolls on the spot, but also drags the complex mechanics of Striker, the tabletop war game, into core Traveller rules. Better to steal the bits you like from MT.
MegaTraveller does have excellent writeups on the Vilani, Vargr, Aslan, and Solomani, though. It's got probably the best book on the Vilani around.
Starter Traveller is Classic with some errata, and a new, simpler ship combat system, replacing the vector based system of the original Little Black Books. (The vector system was taken from the war game adaptation of Lensman)

Playing around with some mechanical ideas
Also this thing
>>50471617
Theoretically, this faction would have options to replace instants and sorceries like this to go along with their spellhating theme. Probably be an expert-level set, though.
Hey /tg/, I've been wondering, would a all bard party work? I mean some players would need to multi-class, of course, but still
(Pic Unrelated)
Yes
>>50471018
Thanks, My players a bit silly sometimes.
>>50470977
what system and edition?
I have a copy of Catan (pic related) and was wondering what are some good 2-player rules?
I'll share a houserule for the 1984 edition of Axis and Allies.
If you're a scrublord and looking to give the Axis a little bit of an advantage/add some balance:
>Add your choice 1 to 4 subs to Germany's South Europe water
>Add your choice 1 to 4 (usually the same amount added to Germany's sub count) transports to Japan's water.
>Vary amount to increase the advantage given to the Axis.
Also
>Draw a line between the British and the Finland-Norway water to prevent navy rush from Germany.
>>50470975
Is there even a point of playing in less than 4 players?
>>50470995
You could say the same about playing A&A but I play 1v1 all the time.
>>50470975
You can't play with less than three players. Someone has to be the table, after all.
So what would you like to see in a horror skirmish tabletop game, rules -wise? What particular mechanics would you like to see used? Any ideas for things that haven't been used before or are not used enough? Would you like to see the typical horror movie tropes and cliches represented?
>>50470461
>So what would you like to see in a horror skirmish tabletop game,
Wut?
Why would this even be a thing? A skirmish wargame is to put together two dissimilar but more or less balanced forces and have a tactical battle to see which prevails. Horror is all about the feelings of fear and dread and helplessness as you're put into a situation you can't possibly thrive in.
Why would there be such a thing?
>>50470461
I don't think you can emulate horror in a tabletop skirmish environment.
>>50470505
>>50470500
So what if it was just a horror tabletop game?
How do you describe unspeakable things?
I'm running a Dark Heresy campaign, and we're starting to get into daemon country. I'm having a bit of trouble coming up with descriptions of beyond "foul, unspeakably horrific monster from the depths of hell" - I feel like I owe the players a bit more than that. How have you guys dealt with this?
>>50468243
I'd pop open some Lovecraft and look over the kind of descriptions he used for his monsters.
>>50468340
This. Beyond that, remember horror fundamentals - the monster is scarier the less you know, so try to keep that mystique and dread alive as long as possible.
Alien as possible. As remote from their experience as possible, shapes similar to things but not identical, lots of descriptors of material property but only the vaguest of shapes.

Hello fa/tg/uys and ca/tg/irls.
I'm in the process of making a custom game setting placed in the age of hunter gatherers. It's a low fantasy setting where the magic is in spirits, tribal elders/shaman and totem animals.
The party, thinking they are rolling a standard WHFRP soldier template are in fact going to be a group of young hunters about to embark on their first hunt with the adults. I'm customizing their stats/skills to fit whatever a hunter in 30-10.000 BC would have to know and be able to do.
I've got a few solid weeks of sessions planned out but I need some more inspiration for more campaigns. Any ideas? Feel free to ask questions or suggest improvements.
Pic sort of related minus the dinos.

Do NOT do this. Nothing will annoy your players more than a bait and switch, if you want to run a prehistoric game then tell your players up front that this is what you're doing.
>>50467154
Please explain it to me, because I'm apparently missing something.
What's the point of running setting X, if you are going to make it a secret for your players?
I'm working on a chapter and the dice have decided they should be both from the Cursed Founding, and left with a gene-seed defect,
How fucked should they be and in what ways?
FWIW, they're going to be somewhat celtic themed with their special units named Dullahan, Cat Sidhe, etc. There's a good chance they have a thing for headhunting. Pic is a draft scheme, I want them to look headless while, y'know, actually still having heads.
Hm. I think a cool defect would be the older they are, the paler they get and they start looking withered and old and they hair become really white? They can also start to become more and more dellusional and paranoid.
>>50467308
becomes*
>>50467308
That just sounds like regular aging honestly.
Perhaps older marines have issues with losing their sight. Of course any blind marines will take advantage of bionic implants, except this isn't a perfect solution. For whatever reason, these implants can fail without reason, fostering a certain sense of paranoia amongst those forced to rely on them.
The chapter has quite the specific recruitment process where they will only recruit those who have died. Chapter doctrine teaches that only the dead know truth and clarity. Marshals of a medieval world, the chapter's Apothecarion are more than capable of saving those whose wounds were untreatable by their peers. In a fight between two champions, they'd prefer to take the one lying in a puddle of his own blood, providing he still matches their other criteria.
They're probably quite fond of Power scythes. 100% not affiliated with Nurgle before you ask.
