Dear /tg/,
Tell me about the current pests in your setting! Roaches, Rabbits, Rats- whatever you've got, I wanna hear about them!
-How does your setting get rid of them or otherwise do 'pest control'?
-What sort of damage do these pests cause if left unchecked?
>inb4 it's a sapient species/specific race.
>>50441563
>>50441563
Devil-rats in shadowrun.
They're pretty horrifying. Giant rats with predatory cunning that are very difficult to control, and sometimes eat children and the elderly. They're one of many, many reasons that weapons and armor are so prolific in shadowrun, even among civilians.
The weird part is, if my character was going hunting them, he probably would use his silenced hunting rifle. Kind of like OP, but more cyberpunk.
>>50441563
Weaboos.
>-How does your setting get rid of them or otherwise do 'pest control'?
Mind flayers and dragons eat most of the anime characters. The lolis are eaten by demons.
>-What sort of damage do these pests cause if left unchecked?
Mass infantilization of the population, followed by uncontrollable masturbation then an inability to procreate, leading to civilizational collapse. They're pretty awful pests, highly destructive to the faculties.

No, because there is no such thing. The universe would end eventually.
Giving humanity a leg up when we are so insignificant a footnote in the timeline of existence is utterly meaningless. There is no HFY; we are a blink in the cosmic eye.

Indeed! Jojo is less about using your fists in later parts and more outsmarting your enemy. Only the first part is really beat em up--the parts afterwards are more puzzle bosses.
Jotaro only uses Star Plat's big fists when the enemy is at his mercy, what you don't see is him outsmarting his enemy to get to that point.
Hey who was the guy working on the Points of light 4e setting? I wanted to know because I think I found a definitive archive of the setting that points to all supplementary material as well as gives a nice overview of the setting and its points of interest.
I don't really plan on making the jump myself. But whoever wants to can start reading up on the setting here.

So any anon who's interested in the fabled 4e DnD setting can read about it!

Whether they're just people with the same skills or straight up alternate versions. I love it.
What does /tg/ think of these systems? Any successful campaigns using them? How about settings or houserules?
>>50428124
The rules themselves are solid, but nothing really speaks out for it so I doubt few people will actually go out of their way to play Mini Six. That said, I would love to try a game or two of it to see how well it handles.
>>50428124
It's very plain and simple. There's nothing really all that remarkable about it beyond its simplicity, which is simultaneously one of its strengths and one of the biggest strikes against it.
I guess the most outstanding thing about it is it has some decent fixes for the WEG D6 Blasterproof Wookie problem.
It looks interesting at a glance, though I wonder how well the dice mechanics work in practice.
I'm not a huge fan of what looks to be putting people near the stat caps by default. Split evenly, everyone starts with 3 out of 4 in every stat, while 2s seem to be average. Would be easy to house rule down a few dice in a more realistic setting, though.
It looks like you'd be rolling 5 or 6 dice often, which will cement a number of rolls around a given range. Someone rolling 6d6 (their best skill at chargen) would result around 18-24 most of the time and almost always beat anyone 4d6 or less. Which makes sense in a way I guess. Plus the wild dice gives a (very slim) chance of someone pulling off something exceptional.

A character has a flaw.
Character plays into that flaw.
The flaw hurts them in some way.
The character recognizes the flaw.
The character tries to better themselves
The character fails an indeterminate amount of times
The character succeeds
The character betters their situation
The character grows as a person
That's generally a good outline.

I played Magic A LOT from 2002-2014 (Onslaught to Khans) During Theros and Khans I still played but much less seriously.
I'm looking to get back into Magic now after my ~2 year absence. What's changed? I feel like I'm coming out of a time pod here. Explain Magic to me as it stands.
How's Modern doing?
How's Standard doing?
Is EDH still popular? Are there other custom formats that have become popular?
What's casual Magic like now? Casual with light Vintage/Legacy/House/don't be a dick rules was my playgroup's bread and butter for 10+ years.
Magic is stale. Standard is still Creatures: The Happening. Modern still bans anything playable and the price to play has only increased. The story is now focused on a group of poorly written marketable mascot characters. You were smart to get out when you did. Go play something else. I don't care what.
>>50443110
>How's Modern doing?
Modern is in a rough state, the whole format is all about being as uninteractive as possible, and because wizards doesn't like printing strong answer cards in standard, they have been using the banhammer quite liberally.
>Is EDH still popular? Are there other custom formats that have become popular?
Yeah, EDH has exploded, just make sure that you have a group that is all the same powerlevel, our last friday FNM had like 8 people with the precons, and the rest had vintage singleton.
>What's casual Magic like now? Casual with light Vintage/Legacy/House/don't be a dick rules was my playgroup's bread and butter for 10+ years.
That sounds really cozy, actually. I mostly play Legacy/Pauper, so I don't know, but I can't imagine it's changed that much. Did you allow proxies?, prices have exploded on eternal cards.
>How's Standard doing?
Can't really speak for standard, aside from the fact that it seems pretty low power at the moment.
Casual is still fun, because it's casual.
I just recently began playing Bloodbowl with a friend of mine, and it seems to me (after a few matches trying out the different kinds of teams) that the teams that are centered around simply fucking up the players of the other team are just flat out better and more consistent in their success than the teams that would rather play ball than trade blows.
Now, I fully admit that I am in no position to comment on the balance of a long-running game series after just a few matches. I just want to hear what veterans have to say about this observation.
>>50442682
That may seem to be the case initially but elves are absolutely god tier simply on the basis on speed, passing and being a right pain in the ass to even hit. Specifically wardancers in wood elf team.
Dwarfs though are anyi fun team who just murder people to win as with chaos and orcs but when you learn to combat them it becomes more manageable.
Except ogres with hot dice. Then you probably wont have a team left.
It looks that way when you only look at one game. But in a league format, since scoring touchdowns nets more SPP than injuries, whihc are hard to gain anyway. Also, passing gives SPP so ball tams end up getting more players with skills faster. Also, an Elf Team, (which are the majority of teams that focus on the ball) are able to go most of the game only sustaining one block a turn. If you are being hit a lot in a turn its probly because you are looking for blocks as an elf team, something you are meant to do later down the line. In terms of balance, yes some teams are intentionally worse. No-one will say that a 1000TV dwarf team is balanced against a 1000TV halfling team, but in general, teams are balanced. There are better teams, but a good coach can overcome any discrepancy in an overpowered team. Halflings in fact become some of the nastiest high TV teams, because they can foul every turn, and don't care about loosing players.
>>50442682
As this poster says >>50442779
It might seem like they're outright better at first, but once you learn to place your catchers and throwers you'll be landing 3-0 wins over less agile teams.
I'd say the passing game is definitely harder at first, but it has a very high skill ceiling.
