I was playing a Mad Scientist in Stars Without Number who kind of ended up being the BBEG.

First, he hacked the digital graveyard of an alien species trying to use it for his experiments. Specifically, to build a combat AI. That backfired and several people died because the aliens burned out their brains while several others were subsumed into the digitally networked hivemind.

Next, I unleashed a Thing type disease into a mining platform that proceeded to kill everyone on board. He did this to fund the construction of the combat AI's platform, he already had the AI built and useful.

On board that same mining platform, my Scientist found a plasma cutter that he was going to weaponize as the first weapon for his combat AI.

Unfortunately, the game ended shortly after because of scheduling. But I was planning on unleashing The Thing virus v2 onto a Mad Max-esque world to claim it for myself to strip mine to fund the construction of an army of Combat AI networked to the Prime Platform.

My friend's PC smashed one of the macguffins in an attempt to escape The Abyss. It was containing the soul of an Ancient White Dragon who, upon escaping, possessed the PC. This happened recently, so I'm unsure how it'll go.

So today I left my first 5e group (technically second, but the first one was last year, and people just didn't show up, so that group crumbled). Needless to say, since I'm posting here, I left in bad terms.
Let's start at the beginning of the isues that lead to my leaving.
Last week, a new person joined the group since one of our members could no longer attend. Her voice was grating, her interactions were limited, but otherwie she was an okay player. There was a problem with calling other characters cowards for not willingly jumping into a death pit, and her asking to specifically "can I make a _______ check?", but that's besides the main issue.
After the game she went to the forums and posted a new topic. An RP thread. This didn't alarm me at first, but after reading her post, I was more than a little concerned about how this rp forum would affect the actual main game. I suggested that doing this would be a bad idea in general as the mediums don't lend to eachother since one is actively interactive and reactionary, with the GM acting as the narrator for the story, while the other has characters acting as the narrators, and doesn't allow direct interferance with other people's actions, especially when writing very lengthy posts. I also voiced my concerns that if players did not wish to involve themselves in the forum, then they would be loosing out on interactions that would be otherwise in-game.
She responded politely, disagreeing that my concerns had any merit, and that if I didn't like the forum rp I could simply not involve myself, ignoring that I already explained why that would be an issue, and said that our GM already agreed to it happening.

I explained to her that he likely did this without consideration that some might take issue with it, and that he group as a whole did not agree to it, nor was even made aware of it. And then, rather than berate her arguments as the fallacies they were, I chose to offer an alternative: forum RP that doesn't involve events that would otherwize take place in the main campaign.
This was shot down, and i was called a "rollplayer, not a roleplayer", because after one session, and me questioning the idea of forum rping, she someone knows my play style (even though I made only 1 roll in the entire session, and it was out of jest, while she must have made a dozen, mostly after asking "can I make a _______ check?"). She also rewrote everything she had already said in her first post.
While I did respond to the insult with basically what I posted here (denying it, and suggesting that she may be more of a rollplayer for behaving how she did in-session), I also went through her post sentence by sentence and tried to adress all of her arguments individually, which I did, since her arguments were pretty easy to dismantle. And what do I get as a responce?
"I disagree", followed by the same post for the third time now.
At this point I understand that she simply doesn't get what I'm explaining to her, she doesn't understand thet her bollocks reasoning isn't going to fly with me.

Yeah, this. I just write "neutral" on all my character sheets and play them according to the actually relevant personality traits and motivations I decided for them.

nothing good comes from letting players do this, because they can change the RAI on the fly during negotiation.
It was nice that paizo considered it, but it should never be used unless the GM's letting everyone use the rules in question.

OH GOD NO!
I was thinking this would be better implemented if the GM made the custom classes to suit whatever setting they built and the players could then chose to use them (certainly certain NPC's will take levels in the class).

But then, as a rule, I don't give players complete carte blanche during character creation.

What a surprise.

I ran a campaign with only Neolithic and Bronze Age Orcs once. The PCs were 2 CN Barbarians, 1 CN Sorceror, and 1 LE Cleric. It was great, by the end they'd forged the world's first Empire and the Sorceror ended up strangling a Beholder.
