What can be done to make succubus interesting? I think they are worn out jokes or fantasies. I want to make them up as a race that has no "males" and needs to be able to attract other races. I'm trying to think of a way to give them a culture and civilization that makes them different. Can anyone help me do this?
>>50422193
>I want to make them up as a race that has no "males" and needs to be able to attract other races.
But they have males, they're called incubi
>>50422193
Have them be like the Asari, and focus them less as cockhungry tarts, and more of a socially proficient race of Djinni.
As for the female-only aspect, fertility is most commonly associated with women, therefore they subconsciously take in desires mentally, and their bodies adjust to fit in with those desires.
Also, not exclusively evil, because if anything they are most suited to be confidantes and the trope of succubi being evil is honestly too cliche.
>>50422456
Might be better to call them something other than succubi if you dont intend to invoke the evil connotation, though
Bullshit wins out of nowhere edition

Who is your favorite commander and explain why? Alternatively, what's the worst commander deck you've ever built?

I need to cut 3 cards before adding in a landbase. which three?

Who is your favorite commander and explain why?
Following in the thread theme of BULLSHIT WINS OUT OF NOWHERE, Atarka.
It's just so much fun to one hit a motherfucker. Most of the time I get btfo by removal or bounces or fogs but that one time no one has an answer and I get to blazing shoal exiling insurrection and just annihilate some unlucky sumbitch it's worth it.
The time I managed to kill 3 players in one turn with xenagod and seize the day was also pretty fucking prime
>>50420861
Favorite commander is, and always will be, this homeboy. With enough artifact ramp and some disruption he can be surprisingly powerful, and games with him are quick and memorable. The fact he actively shits on life gain strategies and to a lesser extent pillow-fort and group hug make it even better.
Worst commander deck was newzuri, bought the precon as an afterthought because I thought it might be good. UG is just a cancerous color combo and I don't like how goodstuffy it can be.
Inspired byLovedagger, I am suddenly feeling the urge to make a game about gorgeously dressed 18th century Austrian aristocrats stabbing each other in the back for status, power, and marriage into the royal family over the course of a night at the ball.
A game like that is going to live and die by the vivid descriptions. What ideas do you have for sensual experiences to liven up the night? What delectable foodstuffs from the farthest reaches of the empire are served (and with what wine)? What sort of music plays in the background? Just how impractically wide will the ladies' dresses get? What's the proper procedure for inviting a fellow gentlemen to a duel of honor (are sword duels still in vogue, or are pistols now all the rage)? When lying out of your nose about your military achievements, which cavalry unit should you claim to have served on, and in what battle?
>>50420248
If it's a roleplaying game then be warned; players are generally not good at intrigue, they think they are but even a genius tier PC plan is only genius in context, in real life they're generally more like that Witcher 3 quest where Geralt, Lambert and Eskel get wasted.
>>50420284
This is very accurate in setting, if what little I've read about Imperial Austria is true.
>>50420248
>What's the proper procedure for inviting a fellow gentlemen to a duel of honor
You must wear weird goggles and sport a scar on one cheek. Nobody knows why.
DnD 5e. To DM's or knowledgeable players, I'm having trouble formulate a scenario to have all my player's meet with each other at the same time. Sure the normal "we are all in a tavern at this moment in time" works but can be awkward and non immersive to the roleplaying of the players. I ask this because during my experiences of beginning a oneshot or participating in a campaign, the beginning has always been janky and awkward when beginning. Any help?
Talk to your players. Tell them how you'd like them to start it and give them the challenge of coming up with a (simple) reason their character is there.
You don't even need to go into too much detail. Hell, pull a leaf from the Elder Scrolls games and say "Your character is in the dungeon beneath a baron's keep. Tell me what they did to get thrown in there."
>>50418499
Have some players consolidate their starting stories if they are at all comparable. Maybe two or three of the like minded characters already formed a group, that can then be used to further rope in other characters. For instance if you have a few left over characters you can give them their own sort of solo start, and then use their backstory/motivation to create a hook that can draw them to the party. Maybe the avarice consumed thief joins the party because he sees them bragging about how much money they made off the last job while they are at a shop, or something along those lines. Since characters usually want to get into a party even if you don't pull it off perfect they'll probably cooperate to the best of their ability.
I'm not a DM or very good at story crafting, but that is how I imagine you'd want to go about it.
>>50418499
They're all captured by X.
They're all known for something that makes the quest giver contact each of them.
They are fighting on the same side of a war.
They are the members of a mercenary gang masked as a musical band
etc

>>50417771

Yep, this is how /tg/ feels like.
>>50417771
Why would you just make things up? I don't play games either but I don't go as far as to just make up lies on the internet!
Hello /tg/
I am looking for resources regarding illithids(mind flayers) for a d&d campaign I'm putting together. Anything is welcome; books, premade adventures, stories/creepypastas, etc, are all welcome.
Essentially everything other than tentacle pronz.
Will bump with random illithid art
Volo's Guide to Monsters (the latest 5e book) has a pretty large section on Mind Flayer lore. It also has stats for mindflayer liches, alhoons, ulitharids, neothelids, cranium rats, and elder brains.
>>50416414
Rad. Still haven't actually checked out 5e yet.
I heard barbarians can fly now?
Can we get a DIY Terrain thread going?
I'll start. I'm a poorfag in college trying to get back into playing some Warhammer 40k (or really anything wargammimg) and am reading to get back into it at school. My buddy back home and I play games typically involving investigating A Space Station or Hulk and figuring out what happened to it. (This is a homebrew game set in W40K that kinda takes from spacehulk, W40K and some RPG elements). Long story short I want to keep playing at school and need advice on any terrain involving a big ministerial space station or craft. If you have pictures of this feel free to dump.
>>50413483
fuck year, the /terg/ threads we had a few months back were A+++
>cheap space station terrain
Google around for budget Zone Mortalis boards. Depending on how poverty you want to go there'll be something to give you an appropriate method.
I believe this is just plasticard and some plastic thread spools.

Thanks mate.
How do you sell the idea of a magical girl setting to a group that's only ever tried fantasy settings?
How do you introduce them to it?
>>50408409
Waifus
>>50408437
This.
>>50408409
Meet them halfway on it, like playing an all witches campaign with all characters being part of a small coven.
I'm building an archery based character for the first time, and I want him to have a lot of utility in his weaponry.
Using magic as sparingly as possible, what are some interesting arrow types you can think of? I'm stuck on rope arrows, blunted arrows, silvered, and standard ones.
Magic *is* accessible to make other types, I'm just trying to avoid handwaving with it as much as I can.
here, have this
Arrows wrapped in oiled cloth for setting things on fire
Rope cutters that have extremely wide, bladed heads
Arrows with whistling holes in the head for signals
>>50406764
Whistling arrows, flight arrows and incendary arrows seem to be missing from your list.
You can also put toggles on arrowheads, if you're so inclined.
