I went back all the way to page 10 and there wasn't anything like this so...
This thread is for people to post their single favourite photo they've ever taken. Not necessarily your best, but your favourite. One that means a lot to you.
Mine is from the 2011 Vancouver hockey riot, back when I was a young(er) shit head. Even though it's an extremely shitty photo taken from a 2MP phone, it was the moment that made me realise the value of being in the right place at the right time, and helped foster my interest in photography.

Cool man, that's the Philippines right? I'd recognise a jeepny anywhere.
I'm new to this photography world but I was hoping you could nudge me in the right direction. I bought a cheap 1200D to learn the basics, what apperture is, shutterspeed, iso etc. and how to work it all out on the camera in manual mode and I feel I pretty much got that down.
I have a 18-55mm kit lens, and bought a 50mm 1,8 prime for my canon.
BUT what kind of lens is used for the shot in the attachment? I feel the kit-lens doesn't give me any bokeh at all when I'm close up shooting wide, and im not able to go far enough away from the subject in the room with the 50mm.. It seems like the lens used is some sort of wide-low f stop lens?? What would you say ???

get a smegma 30 1.4
maybe a 50mm prime
Surely a 50mm on FF. Buy a 30 or 35mm. And a decent lighting setup.
Anon,
For some strange reason I lost the original related picture from my hard drive and now I just have a copy of it I uploaded several months ago to Facebook.
The quality is very bad, but maybe you can help me fixing it.
Is it possible to get rid of the pixels of the sky?
I know it's not a great picture, but it's a nice remember from a trip and would like to print it.
Thanks!

I lent my Nikon to my ex gf for her trip to Asia, and after picking it up today I had to quickly photograph some of my work.
Anyways I'm no ace but I get the results I need with this entry class DSLR. I wanted to get as much out of the sunny day as possible so I rushed it.
Now I just imported the photos, and after quickly browsing her vacation photos she "accidentally" left on the SD card, I realized she, for whatever fucking reason I have no clue, changed the settings so the date is stamped on the photograph.
I just googled that shit, and theyre telling me to crop it out or use some software to make it blurry, and I'm so pissed off that I could throw this thing against the wall.
What is the best solution?
I make furniture so i really can't be blurring the fucking wood.
TL;DR
gf is dumb, now I have timestamps on professional photographs. what do?
Shoot in raw format next time. You're the one who made the mistake.

Post one.
Just found that the plane tickets to japan are not that expensive (i thought it would be around $3000, but its about $1500)
Anything i should know about travelling there as a photographer? Are there cheap lodging areas? Do people respond to english or do they stick to japanese no matter what?
You know there are boards on 4chan better suited to this question than /p/, right?
either way, don't travel to japan. it's a total waste of time. go to florence, see some real art, eat the best food in the world, learn to hate italians.
Check out the Japan General over at /trv/, you'll probably get better answers there

You haven't seen d_'s japan album have you.. fucking millenials
I'd consider myself an amateur photographer in all respects. I take photos for fun and primarily for myself with the occasional fb post but I see lots of flaws with my photos (not that some of them aren't good) I just see improper focus, substandard composition etc. and just want to improve more than I want to share my photos like my friends tell me I should do. But I thought i'd ask for your thoughts. They are generally well received by my friends (which is really nice) but they don't quite have the same level of knowledge as people on here might.
So please, judge my photos. Don't go easy. I need it. Any comment at all is much appreciated

how about a Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G VR II ∞-0.28m/0.92ft O52

Or pick up the DX 35mm f1.8. Cheap and a very good option for your first prime lens.

>>2954364
No one here you mean. In which case you are correct.
Recently after getting more into color grading I have had great trouble watching more recent indie films, films that have budgets of 40k-60k are all ending up very visually similar and have no real spirit. The movie Blue Ruin is a perfect example of this massive use of color grading that looks on par with a snapchat filter.
>>2953009
By no means is it color gradings fault, even in the past film makers would vary in film stocks for different color balances in feature films.
The problem is that these indie film makers are skimping on proper DI work and are tasking people who aren't professionals or competent to do color grading.
The bigger fault imo would be laziness or a recent trend of poor post production in low budget filming. Even basic editing and cuts look like shit in most indie films
>>2953009
they want the snapchat crowd.
>>2953009
pls delet this hate symblo
/P/, i want this camera but want it cheap, how cheap can I get it for?
>>2951530
Depends, do you want to save yourself the trouble and buy one with a lens error right from the start, or do you prefer ticking time bombs?
>>2951543
One that just wurks. in general I'm looking for a video camera with the quality of the s120 or better for the s120's price range or less.
>>2951545
Sounds like you want a camcorder.
I had an S100, outside of the "danger zone" serial number range for lens failures, and it still crapped out after about a year. Canon claims it was only a problem with a small number of cameras but it's bullshit and seems to happen frequently with all the S cameras.
Going to be away for the beginning of next month, so to not disappoint anyone looking for my monthly thread I'll just start it now.

;__;

What is "vignetting" and why should I care about it when using filters?
Also what kind of filters I can use on digital?
Is £30 a lot for a sensor cleaning? I reached the point where I spend more time in Lightroom on spot removal than moving sliders.
Or maybe I should attempt it myself?
