Is there some magical way to obtain reasonable resolutions of known photographer's works? I do not plan on stealing/printing them, I just want to be able to see some details without traveling to Prague or paying 500$+ for a single reprint and the ones available/fount on google are in really, really bad quality.
Jan Saudek is fine example of that, I'm unable to find any of his works really in reasonable resolution.
Is there a way?

Also favorite photographers and inspirations threat.

What are you? Stupid? Every famous photographer has books out there. And if you don't look for a limited original edition shittery, you can get a second hand collection book in a big format for 25€, for example from saudek. Are you retarded or something?

I think I have narrowed my choices down for a video shooting DSLR to a GX8 or a G7.

My reason for leaning towards the GX8 is the body is weather sealed and im not looking to hold onto it forever plus I live in NYC and winter is coming.

However idk if the g7 and gx8 are the exact same video wise.

Anyhow, I get a g7 I will use the kit lens for now but idk about the gx8, you guys have any good lens recommendations for it?
10 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Get the G80/81/85.
It has better IBIS and is also weather sealed.
I have the G7 and no IBIS does suck. Especially with non-perfect equipment
>>

>>2949470
Pressed Reply too early.
First: Go into the /gear/ or /vid/ thread!

Second: Don't buy with kitlens.
If your Budget is small get the 25mm 1.7. it's below 200 bucks.
If your Budget is big get the 12-35mm 2.8. it's parfocal and stabilized, which is awesome for Video.
Also, look into some Vintage lenses. It's Fun as fuck. Check out a nifty fifty for Portrait. And some 180-300mm primes like the Chinon 200mm 3.5. it's a Blast.
>>
>>2949519
Thanks man I will do both of those things, is the /vid/ thread actually popular?

Do you colour calibrate your monitors? What do you use? Thoughts?

I'm planning to get one but it's really hard to tell differences between many models.

>>
I need to... but, first I need a better notebook...
>>
>>2949298
Really doesn't matter too much as people who view your stuff will always see something different, from phones to TVs, to computers, also doesn't matter unless professional work, but at that point you're invested and you can probably afford pricey monitors at $1000+ and they don't really need adjusted
>>
I use a ColorMunki because it was cheap and does well enough.

>>2949312
Nope. Even $3000-5000 monitors have to be calibrated. Higher end monitors give you a larger color gamut and stay accurately calibrated longer.

The goal of calibration for electronic viewing is to ensure the image has been created in an environment that is as accurate as possible so that the variance of color and density seen on other devices is due only to the inherent limits of that device and not compounded by the inaccuracy of the device on which it was created.

For print applications, color calibration is even more important since the print directly reflects the accuracy of the device on which it was created.

Hi guys, would love some help here.

So ive been reading, lurking, watching videos for what feels like forever now. I am not a rich man but I want to make movies very badly, at the age of 22 I feel my potential time frame to make such things happen is closing (though that may seem stupid, idk)

Anyhow, after lurking and almost buying a T5i I think I may have decided upon buying an old Panasonic GH2 and installing the Sanity hack but I cannot decide on what lens to get. I do not think I will be holding on to the GH2 for very long as I want to upgrade to a GH4 in a few months but right now I really want something to practice on.

With that in mind what lenses should I look at? The most popular lens that I have seen is the sigma 18-35, im not sure if I would need a converter for this lens though.

What do you guys think I should get? Am I making a bad decision buy getting the GH2? There are so many fucking cameras and they all have flaws and depending on who you ask you will always get a different answer...

>Inb4 get a sony a7s
I would love to but no they do not go under 1k.

>>
>>2949049
Same doubts as yours.
Gone for a G7.
Goddamit camera, is perfect, and a wonderfull way to practice on.
I'll dump some screenshots from some frames of scenes I've made.
Remember, moreover, it's not important the camera, but what you have in the front of it

Posting some stuff from a walk around new york on sunday. Shot my 8x10 loaded with expired Fuji Internegative film, rated at ISO 1.5. I was able to do 8 second exposures in full sun, and got some great motion blur. Still scanning and editing but overall, pretty stoked.

This was 2 minutes at F/11, just after the sun went below the skyline in Manhattan.

thanks! It's really hard to color balance and I'm on a laptop but I'm super excited. I think I underexposed this and the V700 did a hail mary to recover what it could. The motion blur on people is what attracted me to it.

How do you get this painterly look of film with digital?

I don't have good editing skill so I can't put my finger on what exactly creates it. It's not the grain. It's not the lack of sharpness. It's something else but I don't know what.
19 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
just find some good pre-made filters for light studio and voila
>>
>>2948691
The digital look almost always shines through these filters. I think some more sophisticated editing is required.
>>
>How do you get this painterly look of film with digital?

u cant.

that glow you see there is light leaking through the positive film. real soft light fusing with the actual image. cant fake that

CMOS noise gives some really ugly green dots.

Meanwhile CCD noise looks like film noise.

When will CCD tech catch up with CMOS tech?

you mean grain?

cmos is shit but gives a larger scope for post processing in computer. That's the only advantage it has.

>>

Because the photosites of a cdd are bigger than the photosites of cmos. Cmos have a convertiser lum/singal in each photosite and cdd have a convertiser in each line that make bigger place for the sensibility surface and less noise

Newfag here. Like.. new. Very new. Hi!

It says I should expect to be judged harshly so come on please, I'm ready.

This shot has been taken during a training session with a friend, a beginner model. No expectation whatsoever, as she needed to be..."broken" on the self confidence level.

Still much work to do, hence the name of the picture: Shy

I get that she is shy, which is perfectly fine, especially since she is new. But the way she has crinkled that shirt and puffed it up in the chest area doesn't look good to me. Also her covering up her chin is kind of distracting.

Also whatever you did to the lighting on her face in post doesn't look very good to me.

Otherwise, great work anon. And don't be intimidated by this board. Most users on here are fucking losers who are just jealous and angry they suck so much. But occasionally you'll get a good critique or have a nice conversation.

Seems alright, ignore the gearfags. Keep ISO low and shutter speed high and you'll be fine with your camera. If it gets dark, sacrifice the low ISO (Noise is better than blur) in order to maintain a shutter speed that's the same as your focal length: If you're zoomed at 400mm, make sure the shutter speed is 1/400th or faster.
Try to pan with the aircraft as well.

also there are literally millions of super nice old vintage pentax lenses out there you can get dirt cheap and are wonderful for video. a smc 50mm f1.8, 1.7 or even a 1.4 super takamar smc which is considered by many photographers who know wtf they are talking about to be one of the top 5 lenses ever fucking made and they are fucking awesome for video. anybody tells you other wise tell them to fuck of and die because they don't know what they are talking about. the smc super takamar 1.4 is a little radio active tho just so you know but who give a fuck its a sweet ass lens
