how about a Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G VR II ∞-0.28m/0.92ft O52

Or pick up the DX 35mm f1.8. Cheap and a very good option for your first prime lens.

18-140mm VR or 18-105 vr

Any other recommendations would depend on what you want to achieve.

>thinking of getting a lens too
you'd have a hard time using your camera without a lens my lad

35mm f1.8 was my favorite on my d3200. Would definitely recommend it.

Assuming you already have the kit 18-55 lens, you should be good for a while. Just shoot until you've gotten more used to manual mode.
Once you're done, I would recommend going for either the 50mm 1.8 or the 35mm 1.8 as other anons have suggested - these are on the cheap side, but give are sharp and give you more flexibility when you shoot.
Set your 18-55 to 35mm and to 50mm and shoot a few so you can get an idea of those focal lengths, and then decide for yourself which you prefer.
I have the same camera and after I got my f1.8 50mm prime I haven't used anything else. You can only get an fx 50mm I think but it works just fine. I think you have a slightly more narrow fov or something, I don't really get it but it works great.
I highly recommend the 105mm 1.4e.

I have a 50mm f/1.8 and i rarely use it because i don't shoot portraits.

The first lens I got for that thing was a nikon 50mm. It's pretty much got a perfect amount of view for general photos. It's also very sharp and relatively cheap. I picked up mine from just above 100 dollars.
