Hey /p/, I know this is a bit of a stretch but I need help. I have to get some financials on a competitor of GoPro with similar strategic positioning (focusing their business on cameras and such). I found three, but they're all private.
Does anyone know any public camera companies?
>>2946028
Nikon is public right?
They're not a dedicated action camera company, but they have an action camera line
>>2946029
Ah, I forgot about them. I'm not much of a camera guy, I'm from /k/ but this is for a uni class. While the strategic positioning isn't exactly the same, I can def. use them as a backup.
Thanks anon, have a comfy wallpaper
My only bump, anyone else?
Sup, been a while,
took some vacation time to go to Lake O'Hara, so I hit up the typical spots around Yoho and Banff national park. Weather didn't co-operate, but that's ok
Took the IR camera as well, so i'll post some of those.

by the top of Wiwaxy pass, kind of sketchy, but the sun kind of hit me, Made things interesting.
I'm not 100% happy with the editing, so i'll have to re-visit some of these. I feel like the clouds could add a lot more, but at this point the lack of clarity in the mountains hurts the ability to really push the contrast.
Even the D800 had trouble with the Dynamic Range.

Terrible shit, 25% of the Cambodian population was killed, and the US aided all of it because of the Vietnamese boogeyman.
So I visited Cambodia a few years ago and saw some of the Genocide stuff.

Has anyone here sold prints of your photos at a festival or something like that?
Im thinking about printing off alot of my photos in 8x10 (pic related), set up my awning and try to sell to whoever would buy. My main question is what is the legality of this? Would i need to get a business licence? Any other tips and experience would be much appreciated

Been a little while, mostly cause of me waiting for it to be fall already and night will appear around 7ish.
Once it snows ill have extra fun, snowscapes at night dont need as much light to light up the scene (so less time for me to stand there and freeze my dick off)
Anyways, here is some of my recent stuff, and feel free to post your night/low light shit here

I don't want to be like the other fags making dedicated threads for questions about old entry level canons and shit, but I think my question is broad enough that it would require its own thread (also gear thread reached limit).
Trying to get into portraiture (not aiming to be pro)/want a system versatile enough to do that along with street, basic travel snapshits but at a decent quality and not as inconvenient/expensive in the long run as film.
Anon in old gear thread mentioned that his gear faggotry ended when he got a Sigma Merrill Dp2, but I'm not sure how I feel about the quality of a Sigma vs the convenience and reliability of a decent zoom compact.
So, are Sigma cameras worth it? I hear their QA for lenses is shit: true or false?
Is the Foveon meme really a meme? Anyone with experience or general advice for my dumbass, please feel free to join.

With Mac's youre paying more for the brand without getting any real advantage, you can get a much better custom built windows machine for the same price.
/p/ user with PC's and a singular mac mini (pls no bully).
Windows will do everything you really need it to do for photo editing, probably for video too and at a lower price point.
So why own a mac? I have two reasons. Pakon F135+ and Irridient Developer. When I need more control over a fuji RAW I can export it using ID, but most of the time I don't bother.
The big reason for me owning a mac though is using windows XP on a virtual machine. This is only because the Pakon is buggy as fuck virtualising through windows and I got fed up of restarting my PC. I doubt you have this very specific reason to own a mac.
Just buy a PC bro, /g/ probably still have build charts.

It's real, someone pulled off the black casing though.
There was never a reason to make a counterfeit version of this camera/lens, USSR basically robbed all German optic manufacturers and made millions of Russian versions.
The lens itself isn't that great, but it's worth more than the Russian remake of it because of the leitz branding.
That body is in awful condition but you could still sell it for a decent amount of $
>>2945657
I'm guessing that if this isn't a manufacturer decision, it was probably a refurbished body that took parts from other ones
>>2945663
Awesome. That's what I was hoping for. I picked it up at a thrift store for $149. Local shop said they'd give me their bulk price for an overhaul about $250 because of shutter problems. Wrap it in some snake skin or some nice leather and Prob keep it. Unless the price is right. Thanks!
Also you're right this Elmar is fuzzy as hell. Clean optics but fuzzy image idk.
This is my second leica. My first I picked up at a garage sale. A iiif in incredible condition. All slow speeds work. Came with summaron 35 summicron 50 f2 and a 135 and a ton of accessories all for $100.

whatever works for you m8.
personally I like 24-40-90
>>2945183
Depends on a number of things, particularly the sensor size and the lenses you need, because the other lenses will be there to fill out your range, and also because you don't want more than 3-4 lenses total, unless you're a gear collector.
The two major prime sets on FF35 are 24-50-100-200mm and 18-35-85-135mm; generally, you want evenly-spaced focal length increments, as it provides optimal coverage.
Which range can be replaced with zooms depends on the specific camera system, but anything above 70mm could be replaced with a 70-200mm zoom, a popular choice, because such lenses often come with stabilization, are very sharp, and f/2.8 is plenty fast.
Wides are better had as primes, to ensure maximum image quality, but there are also excellent wide zooms out there, which may be a good idea to get as it allows for fine control over framing.
Even if you want to go all-zoom, the two lenses you'd want to have regardless are a fast prime for portraiture and a macro.
