Comments on Instagram are rarely compliments. People comment so you click on their profile and follow them, they most likely didn't look at your picture.

In person, such a comment suggests that the person is an amateur or prosumer. People like these see photography as a technical medium, they are impressed by specs, numbers and sharpness. /p/ is also full of these guys. They disregard that the technical side of a picture doesn't have to be the important part, judge pictures after exif data and rely on DXO rather than feels. Don't listen to these people, neither on Instagram, nor on /p/ or in person.

There are better alternatives for less. Like d700. Would've bought that but wasn't on TradeMe (NZ eBay). Next cheapest (and good build body) was 5D2. Pretty happy with it but if you have the option, buy the Nikon.
