Im looking to create acouple projects that involve interviewing acouple people and showing the general outside world like in my car, walking up stairs, ect. What are my best options when it comes to cinema cameras under 2k? Do I stick with DSLR? Or try and find a good deal on a video camera ? I'm looking for price+performance

What tools does one need to mat photos, besides a mat cutter? Craft knives? Clamps? Rulers/right angle tools?

Go to Hobby Lobby and buy the mat cutter you have pictured. Use the online 40% off coupon and it will run you about 170 freedom bucks. It comes with absolutely everything you need to cut mat and a DVD along with written instructions. Blades and both cutters come with it. I use that exact cutter and have literally produced tens of thousands of dollars worth of matted prints that I've sold from it. In fact I just finished cutting a bunch of mat.
you pretty much got it, you don't need anything more other than the mat board. I have a much older cutter I got at a rummage sale and it works like a charm.
Speaking of: Is it better to print on shiney paper and put it behind a coated glass, or better to print on coated paper and put it behind normal glass?
Why did Canon bother releasing 5D mk4 if its such a steaming pice of shit?

Should have mentioned it's video. I would have suspected as much anyway, its been like that for most Canons vs other cameras for a while now.

Thinking about buying a canonet ql17 for street photography. Cop or nah? Also anything I should look for when buying online? There's one that seems to be a good deal but it's from pakistan so idk
Get a Ricoh 500G or Olympus 35 instead, not so overpriced and they offer the same. If you're interested in using aperture priority, then get a Yashica Electro.

I've got one here is my take:
Like:
- The lens is superb, 40mm f1.7 is very usable and adjusting focus is snappy
- Small(ish), can be your sole camera when travelling but it wont fit into your trouser pockets
- Can operate happily without a battery
- Leaf shutter
- QL mechanism is awesome and very useful for reloading film quickly.
- About a 1/10th of the price of a Leica and just as usable well made
Dislike:
- This is my first proper rangefinder and I realised I don't like rangefinders. The parallax rangefinder mechanism are usually quite worn on these cameras and it's difficult to focus properly. In low light it's nearly impossible.
- The battery you need doesn't exist anymore. Instead you'll need to get a hearing aid battery and make a metal shim (small metal insert) so the battery fits snug inside the compartment. This might be a bit of a pain but it does work
That's about it really. I should use mine more because I've shot about 6 rolls with it and they are more or less OK. Might sell it at the end of the year though... Where are you located OP?
Don't buy anything from Pakistan, it's usually shit and comes damaged.

Is Photoshop just part of the art of photography?
>>2951950
Why "just"?
>>2951950
it depends
>>2951950
it's a tool.
I don't know anything about photography, but before I went to college I sort of took it up as a hobby and went to some rallies.
Here's the catch. I went trying to make this local militia look like crazy goons, but I actually started to like them and that made for some really nice shots (imho, I'm just some dude with a camera.)
These pictures are getting really valuable, after some men in Kansas were arrested who claimed to be a part of a broader unorganized militia that goes by the same name (III% is a concept, not a group, and they overwhelmingly reject racism and terrorism, and have openly called out racist scumbags.) So the media's pushing them this election, because they've been saying they'll be amping up operations and security.
>starving college student
>need a little cash
>maybe get my name in some articles as a photographer

Upload to stocks. But better get a job, cuz nobody will buy your trash pics.
Not great composition. If these really are gettinf valuable, don't put them on 4chin without a blatant watermark. Put them up on stock photo websites and tag them appropriately so some fuck at cnn will look it up and find your pic.
Thanks OP, I got some quick cash from that one.
I am admittedly only beginning to delve into lighting and flash photography but I was wondering if anyone had some guess to what was used to create this effect by Paolo Roversi.
I can't imagine it'd be an incredibly complex setup. It looks like there's a main soft box or beauty dish and maybe a fill light shooting through some lattice or something to cast those shadows?
If anyone with more experience in this area has any ideas I'd be happy to hear them.
Another example, this is from Dior Magazine if anyone was curious, there are some more examples in there.
it's a single fucking light source you fuck, from above, camera right.
