What's her name, /p/? Old tech you go back to after "upgrading". I know you've done it.
Pic related, got it when I was a poorfag student, wanted a body that would meter with MF lenses, and the D200 was still over $1k and the D300 was just coming out.
It's been all over the world and keeps clacking along. Earlier this year I finally upgraded to that D300 I wanted all those years ago since they're dirt cheap after D500 launched. I've been trying to love it and while I know the sensor is superior on paper I'm coming to hate it. Took it out to shoot the fall colors yesterday and all I got were dogshit raws with ugly dull unnatural colors, ugly noisy shadows at base ISO, and ugly tones everywhere. Can't get anything I'm happy out of it. Meanwhile the D2Hs has better colors, especially at higher ISOs, sharper images, better AF modes, better body, better viewfinder, better controls, better battery life, it's faster, and the raws are much more flexible and easy to work with. I'm definitely leaving the D300 behind next time I go shooting.
Stories? Who else is happily living in the past?

A friend still uses the D300s even though he now has access to a D750. Claims he doesn't like the D750, but can't explain why. His photos on the D300s come out noisy as shit and just muddy in general. I'm starting to think he's going blind because he keeps submitting photos that look like garbage.
Sometimes I wish I could live in the past and just be happy with what I have, but some of the latest and greatest tech does make my job easier, but I'm also more in debt. FML.
Oh Saint Rockwell, right in the feels.
Minolta a7000, gorgeous. Notice tat aperture control BUTTONS near the bayonet. I consider rebuying it.

whoever makes a small, retro-styled mirrorless camera body for their DSLR lenses (rather than creating their a separate line of lenses for mirrorless) will win the mirrorless wars
Why an A7?
Why not ask that manufacturers finally learn what to do with the screen and motherboard and push the sensor farther back, or remove the space to the rear of the focal plane.
That's where the problem lies, even Leica can't get this right.
(In the UK and using 5Dmk3)
Every time I am on the edge of buying a flash, I see a review shitting all over it (usually defects) or it doesnt have enough information about its capabilities.
I want a flashgun that I can use on and off camera on a stand (cable is fine, but even those seem like shit from the reviews). Do I really have to spend £500 on the official Canon flash / trigger? Surely there are decent third party products out there.

The new godox models are pretty tasty, hss, built in wireless, good power, controls are acceptable (much better than metz), rechargeable li-ion battery packs.
>>2962952
Do you know what trigger is compatible with it?
The Yongnuo 565ex for Nikon is rather good. Haven't tried with a wireless trigger, but Yongnuo supplies those as well. Cost for a flash + transmitter (+ receiver?) should be well below 200 australian quatloos, via Honest Ali assuming it's got any chance of crossing customs unmolested. (just don't order them all at the same time; bigger packages attract more attention. like that 15" LED panel I got for film scanning, they figured it was a computer display. had to pay customs and tax on a 23€ gadget, lol.)
10 snapshits I took tonight.

I don;t recall ever getting this much flare before with this camera. I'm shooting with a 70D with the standard lens. Is it something to do with the cold and damp weather? Any shot I take with major lights seem to flare like hell. It can be fun sometimes, but it's also killed otherwise good shots.
This crop of some isn't the worst I've had, but it's the most numerous. Other shots are fine.

Sure enough, that's why I'm here. Funnily enough I just managed to scrape together the cash and got a decent lens, but sadly the kit lens will still be my work horse for the next year or so.
What do you do about condensation causing issues? I can't exactly stuff my lens with cotton wool or rice. Then again... no, I can't think of a way to make that work.
Are you sure that's the issue? This is from literally a few minutes later, and no flare. i did suspect it myself, but I just wanted to rule out anything else, so I can get rid of the issue full stop, or minimize it.

You shouldnt be photographing at night. Wait until daytime when the sun is in the sky to give you the light required to be captured by the cameras sensor. Look up what the word photography means.
Hi, /p/. I really like black and white photography, but I'm a teacher in America's public school system so a Leica is out of the question. Is there a cheaper dedicated monochrom digital camera out there? Should I consider getting into film instead?
blatant troll thread
Get a normal camera, convert to b&w.
Much more powerful as you have control over each colour channel. Monochrom is gimmickmeme as fuck.
>>2962778
>Should I consider getting into film instead
totally.
the thing with film is that you keep paying for your materials, but its so little that you dont feel it. like paying 10 bucks a month for a roll pack isnt gonna gut your budget, is it? get a spotmatic for barebones operation, an xa if you want pocketability, or the meme ae-1 if you like the canon logo.
just do it.
What is this?

In case that's some new model: I don't expect anything that would even make me mildly interested. It will almost certianly neither be cheap nor good.
Can we talk about Olympus? I've completely overlooked them the last few years due to being APS-C 4lyf but now I want more versatility than my X100T and the XPro2 is just a bit big and intimidating. I've been checking out The Olympus OM-D EM5 II and the PEN F but wondering if there's anything I should know before pulling the trigger.
I'm veering towards the PEN F as it's less DSLR-like and I find that goes a long way when shooting in the streets. Weather sealing isn't important to me.
