Other than purchasing a tool that calibrates color and gamma. What's the best way to calibrate color/gamma?
If anyone here does so that is.

The only way to do it accurately is with a tool.
Otherwise, you can print a color sheet on your high end calibrated printer (also requires a tool) on high end paper and ink, and match your monitor to it.
If you're only hanging prints in your house, you can match your monitor to a color sheet printed from an uncalibrated printer. This will provide the worst results and not help with other people viewing digital files online.

You can calibrate brightness and contrast (which are the most important settings) perfectly fine with just a software help.
But for color, yeah you need something that can analyze the screen.

Sony now have 25% of the full frame market in europe, 95% of which is mirrorless models. They only released the a7 3 years ago, with no lens ecosystem, whereas canikon have had FF bodies for 15 years, and a massive established userbase of their lenses. How did this happen?
