Living off the Grid for dummies
Please help. I need a guide to living off the grid. I currently live in a small town in North texas. What do I need to do, to become self sufficient?
>What do I need to do, to become self sufficient
You need to learn to care for yourself. No mommy, no daddy ( not that you had one) no government aid. The only way for you to do that is to kys deep in the woods

Should I go with a hand gun or rifle? Last words suggestions?
1. Learn to farm, learn what grows there and how to can food. I myself can alot of food because I have alot of fruit trees and apple sauce is THE FUCKING SHIT
2. Learn how to either hunt, trap or raise animals. I'd go with hunting and raising animals.
3. Learn how to build/maintain a house as well as how to use tools.
4. Learn to somehow earn a living (I'd suggest selling some animals for profits).
5. Rinse and repeat.
Alright /out/
Fire, Gas Stove, or Alcohol stove?
Also, general discussion regarding trail food.

So how do you eat when /out/? Do you kill and eat raw squirrel or something?

I normally store spiders under my foreskin and cook them using will power alone
I was out looking for wild ginseng for my first time today. My knowledge of it really only comes from the internet. I found a lot of plants that looked like very young ginseng, but I didn't want to uproot them because it's against the law in my state to pick plants with less than three prongs. I spotted a few of pic related. It closely resembles what a cluster of ginseng berries looks like. I pulled one up and it had a little round root, but it didn't look too much like a ginseng root. Does anyone know what I found? This is in Wisconsin. Input from anyone here who actually digs ginseng would be nice too.
General identification thread so everyone can contribute.
Indian turnip.
Jack in the Pulpit. I thought I found a goldmine of seng a few years ago but come Sept 1st I was let down.
>It closely resembles what a cluster of ginseng berries looks like
only very, very superficially in that they are red berries. Have you seen a ginseng plant in real before?
From the photo it looks like Arum maculatum to me. But its hard to tell.
Do you fap when /out/ or do you wait until you're back home?
>>850183
i have a very close relationship with my doggos and we take care of eachother while out.
so no need to fap.
>>850183
No fap, I just tend to fuck my wife while /out/ she talks about that when we do have kids, that she wants me to take her while we're /out/. Wants me to chase her down and just have my way with her, she can scream and be as loud as she wants.

It doesn't have to be too expensive. My shitboat was $5k. Throw a confederate flag on the back and a cooler of beer up front and I've got a regular redneck yacht.
I try to stay away from salt water in small boats, I spend plenty of time on the ocean for my job as it is.

Does anyone on this board regularly go metal detecting?
Is it fun? Experiences ?
Thinking about picking up the hobby
>>846945
I see it as one of the most boring hobbies I can imagine. Searching for old beers caps just doesnt sound fun
to me
Also you look like a dork

o boy here we go
Aquachigger is my hero
I think metal detecting is good if the place is cool enough and if youre OK with finding nothing.
I'm surprised at how much goods are lost in rivers like what the chig does.
Stuff on beaches is odd tho, like how do you even lose a ring there? I get gopros will get knocked off into a river
hello there /out/
i am looking for the most practical and economical way of living in an RV
can you help me. pl0x?
i am looking for information on how to finance a purchase, and also what are the most 'practical' and 'economical' RV's out there?
i don't need a really big one or expensive one... just one which is practical and economical
thank you! <3
bump pls
Calm down your tits my underage friendo, /out/ is a slow board.

RVs are not really made to be lived in full time. Furnishings, plumbing, electrical systems are made to be cheap and lightweight and only occasionly used and you will have a lot of maintenace issues.
RVs are especially bad about collecting moisture inside and growing mold.
Practically and cheap, you want to build/convert your own RV.
If you want to live in one full time I would do some research or at least get an all-metal RV.
Or buy a cheap used one and just be ready to play handy-man and make your own repairs and replace things when they break.
is the survival slingshot a meme? what does /out/ know about slingshots? looking for something potentially lethal and top notch reliable. feel like slingshots are severely underestimated as ammo can be made of anything and could easy incapacitate a villain if need be. figure could be a good companion tool.
I wouldn't use one on an animal unless you for some reason can't have a gun (can't not don't want) and are in a survival situation.
It's very easy to maim an animal instead of killing it.
>and could easy incapacitate a villain
Don't get into roleplay shit
>>835491
>is the survival slingshot a meme?
survival is the meme
They're ok for birds and stuff like bunnies (as long as you use good lead balls of around .45 cal).
Accuracy is rather poor.
Not a weapon/larger game tool unless you modify them to shoot arrows.
Anyone here ever explore a shipwreck

I live in a place that's had a couple of hurricanes and got to go in some shrimp boats before.
Also found a sunken shrimp boat that was abandoned. The coast guard refloated it some months later. The compass was the only thing left but I got it.
Anyone know what the Y-shapes inside this piece of flint is?
>>852908
Inclusions of various gasses, liquids, voids, and whatever types of inclusions are endemic to "flint".
I question whether or not that is flint though because of its translucence in your picture...it almost looks like dendritic agate.

Hey /out/!
As you know, there are sc/out/s all over the world. So in this thread, tell us either:
>Your country, if it's small
>Your state/province if it's big enough for them to be recognizable
then
>Your absolute favorite place to go /out/ to in your home state/country, and why.
There are some people from amazing places here, and others who are from duller places they know how to make the best of. I'm interested in hearing about all of it!
South Wales valleys
Hills and woodland everywhere
Literally a two minute walk to get /out/

I've wanted to visit the British Isles. Wales has always come across as the picturesque, cozy forest country of Britain. Sounds cash.
england
favourite place is probably the temperate rainforests of the lake district or the sussex hills.
they're cosy, the weather is almost always cold and wet which i like, and theres lots of game for hunting, and lots of plants to forage. theres a few places off trail that i tresspass to and nobody has bothered me yet, plenty of deer to stalk and wood on the ground. i've only been to the lake district once but dam the forests are beautiful. moss everywhere.
if you're lucky you can find old decaying ruins of farmhouses.
they're like something out of LOTR

Canuck here. I've been on some of the sections of "Trails". A lot are touristy bullshit. Or some are city bike paths. And majority will just parallel the highway. Not worth it one bit.
>>852387
^This. You'll never be 'alone' on them, there are always at least a few houses or a highway within earshot if not right next to the trail.
>>852418
How can you not be alone on them once you get to the NWT? Literally no one lives there
What is the current market rate on fishing worms?
Some kid in my county sells them for 2 bucks for 24 worms.
Although you need to purchase his 20 dollar container first. Still worth it though
>>852305
I think Walmart sells 18 nightcrawlers or 24 of the "trout woms" for around $3. I rarely buy live bait though.
>>852305
Wtf
>>851741
discovering the joys of shore fishing?
what are you fishing for? is this oregon?
>>851741
This is why I fish freshwater in quiet little lakes and ponds. I was at the beach last night and just saw person after person walking down towards the jetty with rods. Fuck that.
