Anyone here ever explore a shipwreck

Beware of cannibal Rats!

I live in a place that's had a couple of hurricanes and got to go in some shrimp boats before.
Also found a sunken shrimp boat that was abandoned. The coast guard refloated it some months later. The compass was the only thing left but I got it.
Bump for potential

They're incredible dangerous. I tried to swim to one last year and my fucking vacancies guide got mad at me.
>>835368
It wasn't. I think the water was shallower than they hoped and only the lower decks flooded. Most of the main deck and above was fine.
>>835406
it almost looks like a training dummy, not sure though
Aus-bro.
Went aboard and explored the Cherry Venture wreck on the Fraser Coast.
Very fucken dangerous. Scrap metal guys had been through the ship and stripped out all they could take. Decks were corroded and had holes in them. Some places it the flooring moved and was unstable. Managed to explore most of it but got out once we saw that there was still exposed asbestos lagging on some of the pipework. Although it had been there for many years, you could still smell machine oil and diesel in the engine compartments.

It was removed in 2007 right where is it now?
Where I grew up in Australia had a decommissioned wave generator 'wreck' a little off the shore. You can swim out there and jump off it which is pretty fun. They've been saying they're going to remove it for about 5 years or so now and to my knowledge (I moved for Uni) its still there. That beach was really good actually, it was secluded and on the coast off the steel works so you could have fires without getting caught, plus there was no one living nearby to complain about any music or smoke or anything.

my friend has a recurring nightmare where he's floating in the middle of the ocean in the dark, nothing but midnight horizon and black water as far as you can see in every direction. and a gigantic dark steel-hulled ship drives past him and he's this puny little thing in the water staring up the side of the hull and he reaches out and touches it and it's cold, dead, steel, and the ship just passes him slowly.
he wakes up all sweaty having a night terror. he's been having this dream for like 20 years

that's fuckin cool. i can't find the video but about 10 years ago i saw on Discovery a docco about these guys who found a sunken boat in (i believe) the mississippi from the 1800s. it had crates of wine and pickles still intact in the mud and they ate and drank it and said it was delicious. fug i wouldn't even risk the wine but no chance on the piggles. botulism is just way too freakin deadly.

I had a job doing Marine salvage. We refer to all watercraft as female. its just the way it is

>>840306
see>>840303
it is pretty rough if the weather is not ok...meaning a wave clashes you into hull/rooms if inside and another wave pull you away...even good swimmers have a hard time...most common is dead by drowning...as i said it is famous for good dives...so all amateurs want some...and barely knowing to swim is not going to cut it...not approximating the depth or angle before diving..cutting your self like the guy with the leg renders you immobile in water and in pain...and coast guard can't stay 24/7 because dumb ppl...and lifeguard can't reach you from beach that fast...
Let's say hearing on the news about someone who died there is not shocking.
>>840742

Even among Germanic ships the Bismarck was an exception
>>840340
That's doubtful. The captain wanted the crew to call it 'he'. But 'she' is the standard designation for a ship in German. Everytime the ship is mentioned, the feminine article is used. Never heard 'der Bismarck' to refer to the ship.
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bismarck_(Schiff,_1939
>Die Bismarck war ein Schlachtschiff der deutschen Kriegsmarine...
>Die Bismarck
>Die
That's the feminine article

America’s National Defense Reserve Fleet, also known as the “Ghost Fleet”, has sat in California’s Suisun Bay near San Francisco since the 1950s. The collection of WWII military and merchant vessels includes battleships, troop transports and tankers that are technically available for reactivation but are unlikely to set sail again.
Due to environmental concerns, the rusting vessels are set to be removed by 2017.

Depending on the fire threat level it's often illegal to light fires at all during summer.
okay, tropical monkey here, around 2005 a small ship passenger carrier sunk at the bay where i live, so they rescued everyone no deaths, but also the bay isnt so deep so the top part of the ship was visible i swam towards it once but the water was murky around the ship i believe the paint/rust was getting in the way couldn't see shit (this had sunk recently) and i was waved off by coast guard,i got really pissed cause i wanted to steal the steering wheel to put in my room, but i believe that unless the ship sunk recently or is very unknown location wont be shit inside only rust sharp edges and tetanus,
