Woman Taking Photo Dies in Plunge From Cliff After Tripping on Flip-Flops

https://www.yahoo.com/news/woman-taking-photo-dies-plunge-141700472.html

A young woman plunged to her death last week after reportedly tripped over her own flip-flops while trying to take a photo of the Southern California shoreline.

Authorities say Lorena Barrera was in the San Pedro area of Los Angeles Friday when she reportedly climbed a three-foot wall that keeps visitors back from the precipice.

While making her way to the cliffside, authorities believe the 21-year-old tripped over her flip-flops before tumbling 100-feet to her death, KCBS reports.

There was just a thread on /an/, basically OP dumping a ton of pics from a competition or show.

Might have to get down on it one day. I'm getting bored of my unlucky bamboo. There is a bonsai shop kinda near me.

I just got into it myself.

I bought a 3 year old juniper from a tiny asian lady at a gas station then decided I wanted to start growing and training some on my own.

Here's the bottom of a japanese maple cutting that I chopped about two and a half weeks ago.

The top is not doing near as well, I don't think it's going to root at all. :/

It looks like a 'free recovery await rescue' sign from the UK, they have them on particularly dangerous stretches of motorways (freeways/interstates). If your car breaks down they send a free tow truck to pick you up instead of you having to leave your vehicle or walk along the side of the road.

Do you sterilize your dishes at home?
Do you own an autoclave?

Even on a 2 week trip, the most I might do is rinse it out a bottle with filtered water from another bottle

Exactly. Are you spraying your glasses at home down with bleach after every use? No, you're running them through a dishwasher or hand washing them with some soap. Then you stick them back in the cupboard.

General Drought gardening / Help

My situation: Anyone have some tips for me?
Hey /out/, first time poster on this board. I live in San Diego county and try to grow all sorts of vegetables and other things in my garden, Due to the very high temps (regularly 85 and over) and very bad drought (flooded during el nino in april but no rain at all since) my crops have a very hard time sprouting and growing. I already mulch and water deep and for a long time. The garden gets some shade from small trees nearby.

>>
>>843274
Damn, how will I activate my almonds now?
>>
>>843274
1. The drought doesn't exist. It is made up climate change bullshit.
2. Water your garden with a watering can.
>>
>>843274
Make better soil, yours is probably pretty dead. And add manure + water over top of the sprouts, it should becime a sort of cake layer. Or Add small twigs and dead leaves as a top layer, or more mulch. Dont water them to the point of soil erosion.

Hi /out/,
I am getting into hunting, started messing around with the gateway drug pellet guns, and I am getting into archery.

I want to shoot lots of animals (especially since I stopped smoking marijuana and drinking).

What states let me go around and shoot deer or any animal bigger than coyote year round, and as many animals as I want with a bow or gun?

Being sober makes me like to kill shit.
21 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
>>843031
I don't think theres any state you can do that in. Even Alaska has bag limits and seasons.

Most states are open season/no bag limit on coyotes and wild boar (except commifornia of course). That's probably the best you can do.

Look up hunting regulations>state and learn all you can if you're serious- theres a lot of rules.

Are you allowed to spear them, while riding an ATV?

>>

at this point I only masturbate once a week. getting old sucks.

but even when I was a 14 year old boyscout I could go a week without jerking it. just get exhausted during the day.

now if we are twlling stories avout the nastiest places we ever pounded one out I bet I got you fags beat.

I was at this little hilltop base in afghanistan. cia type shit, the helicopters. so we are sleeping in a tent with 20 ither dudes when we get to sleep in base. even the showers are crowded due to water supply.

si I take my laptop to the fucking port o john. stinks like shit. flies in my god damned eyeballs like an african orphan. and niggers knocking on the side everyone knew what I was doing.

hey but I got mine.

If I am sleeping on a ground cloth outside a tent, it is real easy to rub one out and roll over and dump my load into the dirt, even while the gf is sleeping next to me

This is why I like the tarp/groundcloth combo

Okay guys I'm stumped. I live in Charlotte, NC and for the past few weeks, at night, there's a loud "REE" call from the trees out behind the complex, about every 20-30 seconds, the call lasts for a brief 1 or 1.5 seconds.

I'm utterly at a loss to identify this, can anyone help? It literally just goes "REE" one time with no other sound.

This is not a trollpost

cmon mate this isnt 1999.
go out with your phone, record it into a voice/ memo recording app. upload it to vocaroo or youtube and then come back.

Alternatively, watch the wildlife for 45 minutes and see what comes and goes and consult one of the many apps and books available for bird/ wildlife identification.

>cmon mate this isnt 1999.
>go out with your phone, record it into a voice/ memo recording app. upload it to vocaroo or youtube and then come back.

why would I do that? irrespective of date that's something a stupid person would do (brute force), a smart person would find it through googling the appropriate terms like I did.

The only reason I didn't find it instantly is that it's not classified as a "call" but just a "sound" which seems very slack of birb-ologists.

So with the all the homeless/NEET/ohgodIhatemylife threads on /out/ I thought I'd start a general thread for seasonal /out/ work.

Guide companies, ski resorts, summer camps, remote lodges, etc. It's a great way to see awesome places and I thought it would be nice to have a thread where people can ask questions, provide resources and share experiences.

I did it in my younger days and decided to get back into it after being really unhappy with my 9 to 5. I spent the last winter I'm Utah skiing and I've spent this summer working for a rafting company in Alaska. I'm probably headed for either Montana or Wyoming this winter after I take a month off to visit friends and family.

General tips:

The internet is your friend. I get most of my work through a website called coolworks. You can sort by state, country, job, season, etc. They'll tell who provides housing, who provides training, etc.

I know /out/ is pretty anti-social media, but facebook is actually a really good tool for keeping on touch with friends, employers, etc.

Certain skill sets are always going to be in demand, like guiding or kitchen experience, but even if you're a total NEET get your foot in the door somewhere. Washing dishes, scrubbing floors, answering phones, etc. Wanna be a guide but don't have any experience? Start out in the office or driving vans, and then learn what the guides do. There's going to be a day when someone just fucking quits and the boss is gonna need someone to step up, be that person. Show up on time, be willing to learn and you'll get noticed. References are the most important thing on your application.

It helps to grow a thick skin, too. You'll be dealing with petty bosses, lazy coworkers and snotty clients. It's important to try and not take it personally. Most of them aren't unhappy with you, they're unhappy about something else and you just happen to be in the area.

Work hard but have fun. Friendships come and go quickly so make the most of them. And a friend from last summer might be a job connection next summer. It really is a small world and everybody knows somebody you know.

Was hoping a thread like this would pop up.

I am in school for a BS in forestry and a minor in environmental science. My ideal job would be doing something not many people are willing to do. Would really like to do research and stuff like that (Going to remote places for long periods of time).

What might be some obscure jobs to take? How difficult/what kind of credentials do you need to get a job as a fire lookout?
>>
>>842844
The go to for forestry people in the US as far as seasonal work goes is trail building and woodland firefighting in the summer.

I applied two years in a row during and after my bachelor's in bio and never got in. I guess it's getting popular.

Alternatives to that you can look into fishery work or if your resume has the chops theres seasonal work in Antarctica for research support.
