Sup /k/ newfag to handguns here. Just got back from the range and as you can see in pic related, my shot groupings are coming in to the low left. Could any of you fine, experienced shooters give me some protips on how to correct my aim? I wanna blame it on the fact that I was using a G19 but I get the feeling its my trigger pull.

Shooting low usually means your anticipating the recoil and pulling down to counteract it. Practice dry firing to get used to slowly pulling the trigger until it breaks (fires) without jerking. Do it with a spent shell casing balanced on the front sight to really get used to not moving the gun while pulling the trigger.

/k/, what are your thoughts on a fairly good bolt carrier group? I'm building an AR, and don't really know where to start on BCGs. Pic related, I guess
>parts rifle
What ever garbage can shit you want.
Just go with a milspec style bolt, that's fine.
>>31642852
Nice shitpost
Hi /k/, can you help me identify this round? I can't seem to find anything.
Here it is next to a 30-06.
Headstamp coming next.
>>31642801
>>31642872
just from size comparison it looks like a 45-70 but digging a little more I found this (scroll to the section where picrelated is)
http://www.accurateshooter.com/cartridge-guides/competition-cartridges/
so a 45-80-500 Sharpshooter? Maybe?
>>31642801
45-70 with a big ass 500ish gr bullet?
Alright /k/. Civil War/Insurrection/Foreign invasion has happened, and your country is deep in the shit. Luckily, you have been contacted by an external power willing to supply you with $55,000 dollars worth of gear to outfit a group no smaller than thirty members. How would you do it?
Bolt action surplus rifle, a bandoleer of ammo and a canteen on either a pistol belt or a shoulder strap. For 55K I bet I could outfit a division's worth of fighters this way. They fight as guerrilla snipers-don't engage unless they can get in, take a successful shot and get away, and stash their equipment for later. Bleed the enemy dry with casualties.
AKs and some random old soviet/chinese vest for the magazines. Done.
>>31642738
Do you seriously expect untrained civilians to be good enough shots to warrant a bolt action rifle over an AK?
Give me your handgun recommendations /k/, waiting on my HQL request to process so I'm using the time to make an educated decision. I'm pretty sure I want a 9mm and was thinking pic related. Anyone have any suggestions?
My first handgun was a 9mm Glock. Excellent choice, I haven't turned back
Don't expect your first handgun to be your only handgun.
Full sized 9mm are fun to shoot, my dood. Go to a gun store and fondle a bunch.

>>31642489
Do you plan to conceal carry it?
If not then consult pic related and subtract the VP9 as it has rust issues over time.
For a full size target and home defense gun, I'd recommend the Beretta 92 because its easy to operate and maintain, it has a good trigger and its purty. Its only real downside is that its big and heavy which isn't an issue if you aren't planning to carry it.
Why does Beretta stake the extractor pin on the m9/92 pistols?
Do they not want you to clean that area?
Post the guns, gear, clothes etc that you plan on getting in the near future.
Pick related: The Walther .22 SD version.

Is that rust on a US warship? Don't we maintain them better than that?
She hasn't been to port for a while. They usually re-paint and replace all the sacrificial zincs while at home.

ITS A FEATURE
>>31641979
That's the new Russian paint scheme.
So /k/, I'm writing some stories and although you seem to have been inept in answering my questions so far, I'm sure you could answer this one; What if guns evolved very differently.
Sounds odd, I know, but what if gun powder didn't see its best fit use or rather what if it was determined arrows were far more efficient but they needed a better way to launch them. And when gens failed, arrows took up that moniker, of the next best weapon. Rocket powered arrows. But lets get to my question.
Are there any advantages of gyro weapons, rocket propelled projectiles?
>>31641955
No really man its a pretty unexplored technology, mostly because there is nothing that a rocket propelled 9mm projectile has over a standard one.
Small projectiles are shit, though there may be some merit to a 40k style bolter.
>>31641955
That's stupid. You're fucking stupid.
The reason we use the guns we use is because, through trial and error, we have determined that, basically, they are the best, there's really no argument. To magically make a different kind of weapon better you'd need to create some magic substance that doesn't exist, or change up the environment where they evolve
Looking to buy my first hand gat, looking for 9mm gun, preferably in da/sa although im not opposed to striker fire I love the look and feel of a hammer. Also has to be in the $400-500 price range.
So far what I've looked at is the CZ p-07, glock 19(used), M&P shield, and the Sig sp2022.
This is for home defense and CCW.
Been leaning towards the Sig but the price is concerning to me for a sig, anyone got any recommendations?
>>31641855
they arent shit but other things in roughly its price range are better
if you get one its cause you want a p226 and settled
they are adequate but nobody is ever satisfied by them they either buy a p226 to replace it or want a 226 to replace it. the most deluded poorfags will claim its better than a 226.
for what you pay its ok but thats it
>>31641960
"other things in roughly its price range are better"
such as?
>>31642061
glock, m&ps seems like the 2022 have spiked to almost 500 now
you could snag a used 226 for that if you were lucky
Hey /k/, I've been wanting to get a semi-auto hunting/SHTF rifle and I've been eyeing the Vepr (am i extremely autistic?). I've been feeling shaky about what caliber to choose or even if i should look into getting an entirely different gun as there could be better options. I'm wanting either .308, 7.62x54R, and i've even considered 7.62x39 (surplus ammo is cheap). What do you think? Would a G3 or a FAL be a better option for roughly the same price? (bonus points for advice including SHTF survival goodies and tips)
buy the vepr
I shoot left handed (blind in my right eye) do they sell lefty stocks? i've looked all over and cant find one.
>>31641794
I mean, 7.62x39 is still a legal hunting round for deer, and if you convert a Vepr or get one of the pre-done conversions like the FM-AK47-11, you get access to cheap steel surplus mags with 30-rounds, unlike the regular, very expensive Vepr mags. And the Vepr mags are expensive in any caliber really.
Is this DSA's way of competing with PTR?
They claim that all the parts are American made, are they cutting corners somewhere to bring the cost down compared to the other FAL's in their lineup?
>>31641702
I think the receivers are cast.
>>31641707
Voyagers are cast, I handled one right before buying my forged one, it's so much lighter but I don't trust cast parts
>>31641702
Castle receivers. They're fine.
I have a DD MK18 with a surefire suppressor and dbal-i2 (soon atipal c). I have a bcm stock on it but I've heard that the B5 Enhanced balances out the rifle better and gives better cheekweld when wearing armor.
TL;DR BCM gunfighter stock vs B5 Enhanced when wearing plate carrier with plates.
Pics of your actual rifle.
Why don't you like the dbal?
I like the dbal but it doesn't have an illuminator. I could of-course get a different light head for the surefire but I prefer to keep it white light for when I need it.

What's wrong with the notion of carrying a sword into battle in modern combat? Not a full claymore, but maybe something more spatha or long sword-like. Even a saber would do. I would imagine with modern machining and metallurgy, it wouldn't be hard to come up with a kind of a light weight alternative to the old stumpy little four inch combat cuck knife or an memeyonet on the end of your M4.
Muslims still carry blades to behead the infidel. Why can't we bring a sword with us even in a ceremonial capacity to raise morale, or remove kebab?
>>31641502
>Why not just carry a big ol' chunk of metal that you'll never use but still have to maintain?
