Help me choose a handgun.

My first handgun was a 9mm Glock. Excellent choice, I haven't turned back

Don't expect your first handgun to be your only handgun.

Full sized 9mm are fun to shoot, my dood. Go to a gun store and fondle a bunch.

Do you plan to conceal carry it?

If not then consult pic related and subtract the VP9 as it has rust issues over time.

For a full size target and home defense gun, I'd recommend the Beretta 92 because its easy to operate and maintain, it has a good trigger and its purty. Its only real downside is that its big and heavy which isn't an issue if you aren't planning to carry it.

I've owned 9 pistols out of all those and out of the 9, if I had to boil it down to 2 of my top choices, I would choose the CZ P-09 and Beretta 92.

This is an EXCELLENT full size 9MM pistol that is also inexpensive. Onec I used it the Glock 17 went back in the safe. AIM has them for 349.00 delivered free. They come with 2 18 round mags, mag loader, cleaning tools and even a nice Serpa Holster. I have mine on my hip right now as I do all the time I'm at work.

Beretta Px4s are pretty cheap if you get a police trade-in. Local LGS has 'em for under $450, w/ 3 mags and a duty holster included

Are you on a budget? If so the Stoeger Cougar 8000 is decent. CZs are great and sexy though the small slide might take a little bit to get use to. Budget version the tristar knock offs are suppose to be decent and they even make a knock off of the Jericho. If you want something a little rarer check out the Rex Zeros pic related.

Identical to SP-01 just a shorter barrel. Both are fantastic guns and you wont go wrong with either

Here are your critera:
1. No plastic. Its ugly, cheap, uncomfortable, and for poor losers.
2. No slav shite. This means no CZ, and no russian junk maks and toks
3. Stainless steel for carry, blued will be annoying to clean daily
4. Either western europe or USA.

Get either a Walter, HK, Sig, kahr, or a used SW. Everything else is trash.

Sadly no.

One problem being that what you can conceal depends a lot on what you're wearing and how big you are. Concealing a full size handgun like a Beretta 92 is entirely possible if you're wearing a suit jacket; but if you're wearing a T shirt and shorts then you'd have to be legally blind not to spot it printing.

A few suggestions from someone who's partial to metal frames and not a fan of striker fire.....

CZ- P-01 holds 15 rounds in a flush fit magazine. basically a much smaller version of the CZ-75. Should be concealable in most clothing.

CZ Rami BD, Smaller still, holds 10 rounds in a flush fit magazine and comes with a 15 rounder. Should be concealable in almost anything short of form fitting tight pants and shirts.

Sig Sauer P938, Smaller still, like a mini 9mm 1911 with no grip safety, 7+1 rounds in a flush fit single stack mag with 8+1 extended mags. Pretty much the smallest quality 9mm you can get.

Keep in mind the smaller the gun you get the more recoil its going to have and its going to be less pleasant to shoot, so the smaller you go the worse the gun will be for target shooting.

Hey guys. I pulled the trigger and bought a West German P228.

I was wondering if you guys know if its safe to shoot +p out of it? I heard the steel frames were stamped and not able to handle the pressures the milled were. (no flame pls, just having a lot of trouble finding information online)

Would it damage the gun? These are Israeli police trade-ins, so it'll have a lot of wear on it already. I'm not worried about broken springs, I AM worried about broken frame/face.

God I can't wait though. Should be here next week.
