Are 80% lowers a decent way to go when building an AR? Why/why not?
18 posts and 2 images submitted.

>>31647326
I see only a few reasons to build an AR-15 from 80% lower.
>You don't want to have your name in a government list somewhere. (Face it they will know no matter what you try to do)
>You live somewhere that there are no gun stores or the gun stores are run by class A-1 jerks
>You just want to build one from 80% to see if you can
>>
>>31647471
This guy gets it. Did mine to see if I could and it came out fine. Thing is tho do I buy lowers or making lowers now to justify the 200 ish I invested in the jig for all my future builds.
>>
I cannot build my own AR because I'm not 21, and you have to be 21 to purchase a lower. So I may do the 80% method.

Is there anything I need to know about Beez Combat Systems? Thinking of buying their low profile AK74 rig. From what I understand they make chest rigs for several militaries that are branded under different names.

I have a BCS low profile place carrier and have no complaints, they did take a while to ship, but their materials and stitching are high quality. Good selection of colors as well.

how easy would it be for some one to hack into the new f35 and fly it or eject the pilot or find the planes position by just hacking into it thanks to that system that shows where all the friendly units are system

I'll bite, locating the aircraft would be the only plausible one of those, just need to gain access to the datalink, which I'll have to assume is very, very difficult, and if the datalink was compromised the pilots would just turn it off, detecting datalink emissions is technically plausible but impossibly impractical.

Hacking in to the flight computer should be impossible by any means that exist in the real world, it is probably not coupled in to the data systems because there's no reason to do so. You could use space magic to induce current in the flight computer to flip bits the way you want, but this is pure sci-fi.

Ejecting the pilot should be entirely impossible, the seat is probably entirely separate from the rest of the aircraft and entirely mechanical apart from the thermal batteries it might have. With space magic you could, once again, induce current in the circuitry to fire the gas generators but this is once again entirely sci-fi.

This thread is for us /k/ommandos that used to make homemade weapons and hide them under our bed, made very dangerous homemade explosives that almost set the woods on fire, went hunting, and were just generally interested in weapons from a very young age. Share your stories and experiences.

>hand is burned and stings like a motherfucker
>go back to the hotel
>buy switchblade on the way back at the open air market
>dad beats the shit out of me for burning my hand
>compliments my new switchblade

And thats the day that I learned that pyrotechnic fuzes produce thrust and to always seal the fuze with hot glue when making IEDs

no, it's a firearm, technically. however it's pretty obviously a barreled rifle action with bottom metal.

What kind of weapons related things would you guys like to have machines. The sky is pretty much the limit. My boss says if I come up with product ideas to sell, I can start producing. I was thinking about making some QD mounts for popular red dots. Any suggestions?

Nothing, really, it's a plastic AR-18 with a few quirks (well the built in optics on the full length rifles are kind of meh, and I'd have made it use NATO mags), but beyond that it's completely average.

There has been no flaws determined with the gun or the ammo that H&K or anyone else has been able to replicate.

Racks on anything not a truck is a great way to bend or break your rifle to shit. They will flip and when the do your rifle is done.

What could be done with an already sproterized rifle? My friend has a Lee-Enfield that he doesn't want, and I may be able to buy off him.

I was thinking of making an express-style rifle. Basic things I plan to do with it would be to re-finish the stock, and possibly drilling, and tapping it for a scope. The rifle already has it's original sights removed and replaced with a adjustable sporting sight.

Yeah, a better rifle with sub moa standard and picatinny rail for $250 chambered in anything better than 54r.

can somebody please explain to me why if 1911's are still being made lugers aren't

literally why cant somebody start producing new ones

>>
>>31645880
nobody has the tooling and it would be a really dumb gamble when there isn't already an established market for new production Lugers. How would you know if there's much of a demand for them? 1911s have continuously been made in the US since always and they have always been available and there's always been a market for them, that's the difference.
>>
I'd buy it. Especially an artillery model.
>>
Unreliable as fuck. If you watch the video of Hunter S. Thompson shooting back at his neighbors, you can see how jamomatic the Luger is.

So I recently bought a Savage 10 fcp-sr .308 and I would like some feedback for a good optic to throw on it.

I would like to get into long distance target practice up to 1k yards and figured a fixed 10x would allow me to buy a higher quality scope for less money. I'm primarily looking for mil reticle and mil turrets.

I've been thinking about the Bushnell 10x elite tactical and SS 10x. I'd be willing to spend $300-600$ for optic and rings at this time.

If there's a decent variable available, I'd certainly consider that. I'd be grateful for any suggestions, really.

>>
-get parallax adjustment
-forget about 308 for 1000 yards
>>
>>31645823
Yea, no parallax adjustment is my biggest problem with the bushnell.

And not sure about the second comment. Many people I know can hit paper out to 1k+ yards with a .308.
>>
>>31645833
If hitting paper is what you want then sure, it will work. If you want small groups you are looking at expensive rifles and should consider better suited calibers with better BC, less wind drift etc.
