I'm slowly trying to not be absolute garbage by picking up one habit at a time. I'm starting the "not having an awful body" segment of this plan, and am wanting to get /fit/.

I know the dieting stuff to some extent (I know my recommended daily caloric intake and just need to either get some multivitamins or try to grocery shop around those and macros.)

But I'm a total dyel. I used to play soccer, but I've never had any sort of arm strength at all. I'm looking into SS, and was wondering if there's any shame in going to the gym and literally just lifting the barbell for a week.

Or should I do bodyweight exercises until I'm at least out of todderstrength mode?

Start with stronglifts 3x5. Its a far more beginner friendly program. Do ss later if you are interested in olympic lifting

Hey /fit/

I'm in my final year of uni and I've finally managed to settle into a decent paying job. A long term goal of mine has been to get into fitness and lifting, but was never really able to afford the extra food or gym memberships. Anyway, after a painful breakup I've finally decided to get swole.

Anyway, I'm looking at all the gyms in my city (Wellington, NZ if it helps) and I have no idea who to go with. What should I look out for? What are reasonable prices? Should I go for a 12 month contract or pay extra to have it monthly? Any help is appreciated

Squat rack, plenty of barbell, oly platform, some dumbbells, stretching area. If it doesn't allow certain lifts/use of chalk it's a no go.

No matter how big I get I still get pushed around, seen as weak, voice cracks every time I try to speak up, heart pounds at even the slightest confrontation and my voice goes high, can't hold eye contact even with my dog.

How the fuck do I get into swimming if all I know how to do is breaststroke (and that's with my head above water 100% of the time). And I'm probably doing breaststroke with shitty form too to be honest

Should I just teach myself, or get a trainer or something? I'm confused as fuck right now. I tried looking at some swimming how-to videos but I didn't learn jackshit from them. It's like watching an Olympic gymnast and trying to imitate them for me

me either. i always shaved alongside my dad when i was a kid and when i decided to grow mine out it just grew beastly. i've been growing one for about 3 years now and it's pretty legit.

strength training makes you look sick as fuck when you cut, only a moron would deny that

the problem is that if youre serious about strength training you never really want to cut, so you basically have to choose between your sport and your looks.

After losing over 80lbs in the past 9 months i need help on the home stretch. I am struggling losing the last 10-15 lbs while lifting 4-5 times a week and eating alot more than i used to. I would just run 3-4 times a week and eat at 1600-1900 and lose weight consistently. I want to lose the weight don't get me wrong but with my TDEE i am eating at 2000 kcal and lifting 4 times a week i am not seeing much progress. While i realize 2k cals is higher i cannot eat much lower because i will be unable to finish workouts and lifts plateau or even go down. I feel so back and forth right now. i just need some direction brehs.

Do i lower cals and just run and hopefully lose the weight in 2 months ( but lose tons of muscle) or eat more towards my TDEE and maintenance/slight defect and lose the weight slowly and look nicer lifting 4 times a week.... Only downside is the scale goes down FAR SLOWER and i still feel like my progress is stalled ( i still look fat ) and i am not very muscular looking, though to some normies i look okay in a shirt. Do i just rapid cardio cut at like 1600 cals to lose the weight fast and just focus on gaining from there or do the slow and steady eat more and lift but lose weight slowly. i just want to make it brehs and look j00cy. Please help.
Stats:
Currently at 183-185 lbs at 23% body fat (used a meme scale tester) sitting at 5'10.
Lifting stats are shit too, but im still a newb

1pl8 + 25's deadlift
OHP is god awfull don't ask.

ANY advice or direction would be greatly appreciated.

When I lost weight, I just did a cut and cardio. From there I'm still slow bulking while lifting and I'm feeling good so far. My body type was never like yours though, but the concept is the same in the end.
