I cannot for the life of me figure out how much I'm supposed to eat on SS, which I'm about to start.

I'm a 186 cm (6′1″) tall, weak, skinnyfat lanklet weighing about 78 kg (172 lb) and in my early twenties.

I need to get strong for my sport but I don't want to end up as a fattie (which I've seen GOMAD do to some folks here). I would also like to take advantage of a novice's linear progression if possible.

The sticky says to bulk at 500 kcal surplus, but in Practical Programming Rippetoe comments:

This is woefully inadequate for most people who are serious about their training, and absolutely positively inadequate for an underweight male who is trying to gain muscular bodyweight.

So, which is it? 500, >1000, or >2000 kcal surplus? GOMAD or no GOMAD?

/fit/, what are good fruits or vegetables to get as a replacement for chips? I want to get that extra bit of filler to top me off in combination with whatever sandwich I'm eating. I was thinking a bag of apples or something.

Buy spinach or house mix, put raspberry vinaigrette on top.

Buy carrots, chop them into 3rds lengthwise, then into quarters widthwise

Apples or bananas. Most fruits are natures way of packaging a snack for you to eat. Just be aware of how much sugar you eat.

I could do my own research, but I like getting wisdom from people who walk the walk, know what I'm saying? It's not a matter of me not being able to search for myself, but wanting to hear from what I consider to be experienced persons.

Also, I guess the trick to calories from fruits and vegetables is that they burn much faster than calories from foods like chips and whatnot? So 100 calories from fruits/vegetables will burn after exercise faster than 100 calories from fat rich/fried foods?

I lurk all the freaking time. I read FPS/FPH and it feels like it gets me going for a short while but I crash in less than a day.

By having a gymbro. We meet just about every time and do the same shit the same days. If I'm benching, he's spotting, etc. He's a long time friend of mine who was and still is somewhat overweight, who came to me looking to make a change.

Otherwise by realizing it isn't a chore. Nobody is forcing you to go to the gym, you're going there of your own volition. You don't need motivation, you need discipline.

I've helped him drop about 45lbs so far and, while he doesn't look like he really lifts yet, the motivation of adding weight almost every week keeps him going strong.

Losing weight by eating little and running a lot?

Decided I want ti go from 206 lb to 180 lb and then start lifting
Problem is I'm only losing 1 lb a week / 2 weeks(and barely that) and it's too fucking slow.

If I say run to burn 1000 calories a day and eat seldomly: maybe just cereal or some shit making my total calorie intake about 1000 per day will that work?

I don't give a fuck about "putting it back on" I just want to lose the extra weight and start lifting

Why the fuck are you waiting to start lifting? Are you stupid? Lifting will increase your BMR and help you burn calories and lose weight even while doing nothing. Lifting and cardio combined are excellent ways to lose weight.

I can't tell if its my mind fucking with me or not but I feel like I look fatter, even though my weight has stayed the same for a while now

I use to eat 2 scoops of whey every morning (48g) and felt hungry the entire day, ate it with milk.

I changed that to eat 6 eggs instead with butter and I'm full as fuck. Makes it far easier to stick to cutting.
