I was reading about footwear while lifting, and it brought up what may be a good point. Is it bad to wear running shoes while doing squats? I usually run 5-10 minutes as a warm-up, so I always lift in my running shoes. Does having the cushioned heel throw the angle off? Should I pick up some wrestling shoes or some other flat shoe for lifting purposes?
>>40016396
Running shoes have padding for comfort, which makes you prone to slipping around in your shoe. Also they tend to have a raised drop (a slightly higher heel) which makes slipping around that much gayer for your anxkles, form, and the sloots checking your knees check themselves.
The general consensus; nobody will care if you just get some flat soled shoes, they are fine. Squat shoes are great though, however unnessesary for a majority of people.
i always wear dress shoes when i go to the gym because getting swole is serious business
Chucks, get the high tops

Sup /fit/bros, will post pics later when I can find a full length mirror. I need advice. But first, based on these measurements, try and guess my weight. I am 6' 2", wear size 38 pants and can wear an xl shirt, but I'm really more comfortable in a 2x. I used to lift but now work 56+ hours a week driving a forklift, so my physique is not what it once was. I will say my actual weight shocks everyone I know. Pls halp

I've been hearing it all the time for the past like 10 years. Mostly been hit on by extremely short and unattractive ghetto black chicks.
Hey my dudes, I've been thinking about investing in some fish oil supps lately for the raised mood and general ability to think but read that the ideal range of epa to dha is 7:1, and not a single health food store in my city carries that ratio or anything close to it, although there's one brand with 50 to 1...
Just wondering if any of you had any experience with this and knew anything about this particular ratio
where did you read that? sounds like bullshit. just get one with 180mg EPA and 120mg DHA, i'm pretty sure that's the most common.
>>40015935
Yea it's certainly most common hahaha. I read it in a book called the brain fog fix and the first section is just a lot of general health advice. It says 7:1 is ideal because the brain produces almost no epa naturally so thay evens it out more, and that in a study where students took 7:1 and others took the usual ratio, those taking 7:1 could think clearer and faced much less test anxiety
>>40015970
Think of it this way: some is better than none, so stop being an autist and just buy something decent that's available. You can min/max your D&D character sheet later.
would a trained accessory muscle hinder linear progression in a larger muscle?
For example, if a beginner had made virtually no progress with their chest, but trained biceps and triceps with isolation exercises got months, and made some gains, would they make slower progress on a programme such as SS or SL, with their bench.
Progress meaning strength and muscular development.
Same goes for trained shoulders then beginning OHP, for example.
prrrrrrrbbbbtt
Kinda because when benching you might end up using more of your stronger triceps instead of your chest. It'll even out as long as you keep increasing weight, but you might be confused if why you're increasing in weight but certain parts of your body seem undeveloped.
That aside.
If all you can do is accessories because of the kind of access you have. It's a lot better than not doing anything at all and waiting.
Get to those compounds asap though.
>>40015807
Youre being way too autistic about this

I'm 5'7 and 82 KG. What the fuck is my problem? is it just too much body-fat? Would cutting down to 72 KG do anything for aesthetics?
I'm so fucking sick of shitty results.
>>40015676
sure. cut down to 72 kg. but do a slow cut from now to may.
>>40015676

Cutting caffeine is worse
I eat 6 of these with my tea everyday.
Is that bad? I can't enjoy my tea without them
New (july) study claims that well-trained, young, healthy individuals get more strength AND hypertrophy gains when eccentric phase is 4 seconds long against classic 1 second.
The study was conducted to failure for both groups and 8 reps.
What do you think? Just study bullshit? Why big bodybuilders don't do this regularly? You see them doing this occasionally, but not often.
>>40015645
I keep hearing about it, "accentuate the negatives" or similar
I do it
>>40015661
They usually say "keep the descent controlled". I do that too.
But a 4 second negative on OHP or Rows is fucking scary. I mean I can do that, but how much will I have to deload to reach that?
I don't egolift at all, but I want /fit/ blessing before trying this shit.
>>40015645
doing slow reps will tire you out faster so you can't do as many total reps. same shit why paused reps are much harder.
it would be interesting to see the difference between slow speed reps and fast speed combined with more volume.
i'd assume faster speed with more volume would give you better strength adaptation and hypertrophy in the long run.
