Do you squat until parallel or ATG? I've seen many big guys who only do parallel (or a little lower) with juicy legs.

Most competition rules say that the crease of the hips has to pass the crease of the knees. Any lower than that is wasted effort in that instance.

Dont compete but thats the rule i follow. Any higher and its not a squat any lower can impact your PR.

Daily Stew Thread

What else should I add to my stew? I got lentils, carrots, spinach, onions, mushrooms, diced tomatoes and green peppers, and a can of chicken (fuck you I don't wanna bake one of my chicken breasts just for this). Of course various spices too

Anything else I should throw in?

You could always just slow cook the raw chicken breast in the soup until it falls apart, but it's understandable if you'd rather just use a can for a quick stew. Your stew sounds pretty good, although I would add celery to the list, and sweat it with the carrots and onions before adding the other stuff.

Deadlifts and Squats become harder to do more than 2.5 times per week when you reach more than a couple of plates

Hey fit, beginner her, never lifter seriously before. I've noticed that many of the recommended routines here and elsewhere are mainly built around squats. Why is that? I haven't found any explanation as to why they are so important, just people saying they are. Is there a point in doing them if I don't lift for strength, have pretty big legs anyway (I don't think there'd be that much of and imbalance if I reach my upper body goals) and overall don't plan on anyone ever seeing them?

Day 1 :

20x14 biceps curls
10x12 hammer curls
5x10 concentrated curls
5x10 isolated biceps curls

Day 2:

20x10 bench press
10x10 inclined bench press
10x10 declined bench press
5x15 flies
5x15 inclined flies

Day 3: Rest

Day 4:

10x15 lat pull downs wide
10x15 lat pull downs narrow grip
5x10 OHP
10x12 shoulder press with dumbbells
5x10 wide shoulder dumbbell pulls or whatever the fuck those are called

Day 4 : Day 1 (and the whole thing repeated)

What do you think? No legs cause I don't care about them (I hit cardio from time to time).

Figured following another man's program is the most beta thing to do so I made my own when I started lifting 5 months ago - what are some mandatory exercises that I should add?
