When I squat atg, i have a very difficult time once i am below 90.

Is that because my glutes/quads are weak? Which muscles do most of the work below 90?

Probably glutes, I had the same problem.

I think bulgarian split squats are an excellent exercise to get power at the bottom from the glutes and quads, and it will help with strength symmetry as a bonus.

sup /fit/. if i'm cutting, should I eat at a deficit or could I instead just eat at maintenance then do an hour of cardio to make a 400-calorie deficit? is there any real difference?

It's easier and takes less time to cut your calorie intake than it is to do more cardio.

Let's say an hour of cardio burns 500 calories. That's like not drinking 3 sodas or picking a healthier meal option.

losing weight is like draining water from a bathtub. if you leave the faucet running, the water level in the tub won't change at all. if you lower the amount of water coming out of the faucet to the point that more water is draining out of the tub than is entering the tub, the water level goes down. the opposite is true as well, if more water enters the tub than is drained from the tub, the water level rises.
