Whats this on my dog
>>2302326
Its like a little bubble
>>2302326 (OP)
Look's like a Tick, better if you check that in a clinic.
>>2302364
it's not a tick, it's like a blemish of some kind. It doesn't look like it bothers him so I havent considered taking him to vet. I was just wondering if any other anon has encountered similar little "bubbles" that are cyst like
>first time dog owner
>go to shelter to adopt pup
>they have an owner surrender purebred Belgian Malinois
would it be a bad idea /an/? she's gorgeous
>>2302138
95% of the cases, yes.

Australian Shepard Vs. Beagle
Which one shall I get?
Beagle:
-Really fits the bill (350$-500$) (++)
-Noisy (-)
-A bit more stubborn (-)
-Smaller, can't get food off of kitchen table. (+)
Aussie:
-Cost is... well not that efficient when it comes to my situation. (- -)
(600$-1500$)
-A lot bigger, and has a beautiful coat. (+)
-Less stubborn, these guys are fast at learning I've heard. (+)
-Shedding, and lots. (-)
I just want to hear your opinions.
>>2302093
I don't want no criminal dog, get the beagle
>>2302093
Beagles, They have floppier ears!
aussies are way cuter and don't have the annoying ugly-ass barking of the beagle
My dog Libby has heartworms and I just wanted to hear some positive stories if any of you know of some about dogs going through the treatment.
Libby needs one more dose of Hartgaurd then she needs to a shot to her stomach where she then needs to be Inactive for about 2 months. She is such an active dog, I don't want to see her basically bedridden.
Anyone else have some advice for me? I hope she will be OK. She is 4 years old and hasn't shown any obvious symptoms yet.
My dog went through the treatment at 2 when I adopted him. It's not like you need to keep her locked up for 2 months unless she regularly runs laps around your house. The main thing is to keep her from running a bunch. Make her walk on walk, no running and you should be fine. Also don't put her in any stressful or over exciting situations where her heart would start racing so no dog park or other non-calm outings
That is actually good news. She is very chill indoors unless we are playing with her.
Im curious, can we go on short slow walks at least?
She is going to go crazy indoors out if boredom

sleep tight Gabe :(
Rest in peace, pupper. You always made me happy.
I see a lot of animal training threads and questions on here, so I thought having a training general would be useful and interesting.
All species welcome. Are you a trainer? Professional? Amateur? Beginner? What training methods do you use? What species do you train? What are your latest training challenges and achievements?
What are your thoughts and opinions on the latest animal news story, about the dog being filmed for the movie "A Dog's Purpose"? (Just googling the title of the movie should lead you to various articles and opinion pieces.)
Gonna start the thread off with the good ol "Cesar Milan vs. clicker training" debate that spawns at least a few threads each week. I am a professional trainer working predominantly in complex free release environments. I use only positive reinforcement training methods and I believe it is the best, most effective, and most "humane" (though not saying all other methods are inhumane) training method. People call positive-only trainers fluffy, weak, poor leaders, etc., but the truth is...it is the best and most effective training method.
come @ me, "dominance" trainers
I do behavior training (mainly fixing aggression or fear) with a wide range of animals and do more traditional training with dogs although I do dabble with other animals for shits and giggles. I used to train dogs at a shelter until I started trying my hand at a training business.
Never, ever, ever be in dog (or any animal for that matter) training business by yourself. People are such dumb Fucking dickheads. See, the problem with training classes is the majority of the animals you get are in that class because they have an issue. And that alone is fine, I find it incredibly rewarding actually seeing a positive change in what was a shitty animal. However, there's usually a reason why they got that issue in the first place. Maybe the owners are lazy, maybe they are dumb, whatever it is, it will continue to happen after they bring the animal home. Any progress that happens in class, they go home and get scraps from the table, or maybe for the rest of the week they don't get out for a walk or not another second is spent on training. It's infuriating, especially when they come back mad or saying their dumb dog didn't learn anything, and I ask if they did anything I asked them to and they didn't.
Before you can have success in training you need to satisfy basic needs first. How do people not understand this? You wouldn't make a dog who hasn't eaten in 4 days sit and stay for a treat, why would you make a dog that has cabin fever do the same?
>>2301897
Literally everything you said is so true. I don't train dogs as my main profession but sometimes I help friends or their families with training and so far it's been 90% training the people and 10% training the actual dog. And even people who genuinely want to learn and be good trainers and use positive methods give up after about 0.0000001 seconds of trying.
Especially for fixing behavioral issues (although they're all just normal family dogs, nothing with aggression or anything). Here's the average conversation about leash walking. Client in black, me in green.
Hi, anon trainer, your animals are trained so amazingly I would love to learn how you do it. I am willing to put in the time and effort to learn. My dog pulls on his leash the whole walk, how can I fix it?
>The best method is to train it in an environment without distractions, so just start leash training in your house. Reward your dog for walking nicely by your side and not having any tension on the leash.
Oh, that sounds kinda hard. I just want to walk with him. Is there anything else I can do?
>Your dog's pulling is being reinforced by getting to go where he wants to go. Every time your dog pulls, stop walking until the leash gets slack again. Then continue. This way you aren't rewarding his pulling. With consistency he will figure it out quickly.
Great idea! I'll do it!
>Does it for literally a minute.
Oh, he doesn't understand. This isn't working. Guess he'll never be fixed...
Sorry that was a bit of a rant. People act like they care a lot about their dog's behavioral issues until it comes to actually having to DO SOMETHING to fix them. Then laziness just takes over.
Dog breeds most people haven't heard of/Underrated Breeds
It's a pomsky, A husky pomeranian mix
that's not a dog breed, it's a mutt
>>2301606
It's an abomination of abuse. Dogs with large size differences should not be breed together. It can cause so many problems. Besides, fuckheads get them because "ohemgee it will stay this smol 4eva because it's a pom!" and then they neglect or abandon it because no it doesn't and they refuse to pay the vet bills for all of its health problems
Not a breed, you inbred moron. Mutts are not breeds. While we're at it, labradoodles and pugles are abominations too.
What does /an/ think of this shit?

I remember playing this when I was little, and I could never beat it Kek
The game doesn't exist anywhere now, as BBC has removed it from its site and there are no downloads of the game anywhere
This is the only game I know of that has completely vanished from existence
I know it existed because I remember failing at the game when I was little, and there are still screenshots of the game circulating on the web, despite the actual game completely nonexistent on the internet
>>2300503
there was also that that walking with cavemen one
>>2300503
Now i want to play it. What a weird thread.
>>2300503
I fucking love this game too. I also couldn't beat it. What kind of a fucking dinosaur dies to a centipede?
My coacktiels just breed a eyeless one. Chick got no eyeball at all, but looks fine with 5 days.
What should I do? kill it or let it be?
No eyes at all?
>>2300246
Nop. His head is only the beak and clean skin. His brother got everything, with big black thing as closed eyes.
Post pic.
If it just has no eyes then eh. I think a blind cockatial can live a normal happy life with the exception of I'd you'd really have to be careful letting it fly. If it looks healthy, acting alright, eating, etc then I don't see why not.
I also just googled it and you're not alone. Can't find anything that 'causes' it. Not sure if it's a random defect or it means you should not breed your pair anymore.
Also JESUS CHRIST they're horrifying, I love/hate it.

What the fuck?
I mean, that fucker just BOLTED at the poor lady's dog.
Right across the street.
The fuck is his problem?

Dog aggression. Some dogs are more prone to dog aggression than others. Some dogs become aggressive from poor socialization. Other times it can be brought on from bad experiences. You can train out dog aggression even in adult dogs, but it's easier to just socialize them well while still young. I wouldn't recommend trying to socialize an adult DA dog without the supervision of a professional. It's actually pretty easy, the problem is being attentive and recognizing subtle signs, and you need the help of one or more very well trained dogs. You'd also need the DA dog to have basic training.
>>2299177
He was socialized pretty well as a pupper, there are a bunch of dogs he has zero problems with.
Even went to a dog class once, and he behaved very well around the other dogs in his class.
But then standing outside the cafeteria after class he suddenly got in a fight with some dog after all.
Just any dog he ever sees out in the street becomes an instant target.
I think if I tried to socialize him with a bunch of other dogs, he'd simply grow to accept those particular dogs, but still rush at any other dog he sees afterwards.

Do you know anything about pheasant evolution?
What can I do to make these fuck off WITHOUT hurting them? I have 5 of these fat shits that hang around my porch and night and tear it up. I used to just be able to open the door and they'd be gone, but they wised up that I never did anything but open the door, so now they run to the bottom of the stairs and wait for the door to shut and come right back.
I don't wanna hurt them though cause there just trying to do their thing just like me, I just want them to leave my porch alone
Spray them with water.
What are they going after on your porch?
>>2298726
Its winter so that could actually hurt them depending on where op lives
Have you tried repellents? Theres a lot of general outdoor pest ones that cover raccoons opossums squirrels etc
