My mom says she'll get me a dog for my birthday (30 year old, living at home, limited prospects, but job during the non-winter outside doing crap). My first choice is a Papillon. Is this a wise choice for first doggy? Also, where do I acquire said pap?
>>2308270
Your mother would rather see you become an adult, not a dog owner.
Do something with your life faggot, you are a thirty years old.
>>2308274
I have a job faggot, i paint houses and shit, the pay is just utter shit and i have no job in the winter etc
>>2308278
>do something with your life
>b-but I have a shitty job sometimes
Here's an idea, Australia
Instead of engaging in cat genocide, teach your native species to not be faggots
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/speaking-of-science/wp/2015/10/14/australia-defends-decision-to-put-down-2-million-feral-cats/
Feral cats arent easy to hunt, you need at least .22 magnum but Id use a light projectile in a .223. I have shot 1 centre front chest and it still made it 200m the bush with .22lr 42gr subsonic.
I think the use of bullgreyhounds/alaunts to hunt them would be advantageous over open ground.

> "The cats are, in fact, two million smaller versions of Cecil the lion," Morrissey wrote, calling the cull "idiocy."
> smaller versions of Cecil the lion

Fuck off hippy. As someone who routinely finds piles of feathers and blood that were once birds on his property, I endorse and encourage this cull. I can't do shit like >>2308143 if there are predators around.
I love bonobos. one day i gonna smuggle this animals to Sweden
>>2307839
Make sure it has some clothes. It's cold as shit up there.
>>2307839
Bonobos are very sexual apes. Is that why you love them, OP?

>you won't need to
How did this meme start that it is immoral to buy a non-shelter or pure-bred dog? It seems like all liberal city people now believe this.
>cross-breed
>get double the genetic diseases

I honestly think it started with the kennel clubs becoming corrupted in small sections. The AKC for example, besides it's questionable standards it allows, gives puppy mills certifications to breed dogs. It doesn't make puppy mills any more legal, but it does help them be less conspicuous. I've always been of the ideology that if you are going to pay money for an animal, that money should either go to a dedicated reputable breeder or to a nonprofit organization. Getting some byb mutt is fine too as long as you pay less than $100 for it. Honestly $60 would even be pushing it.
Because it's the reality of pet overpopulation
and you're also enabling shitty BYBs and irresponsible owners since only a fraction of breeders are reputable
So I'm watching my parents two chihuahuas for the next few days and these little dogs are going apeshiit crazy. The tan one I'm pretty sure has dementia because he's constantly screaming and just shits everywhere and lies on the floor. The black one won't stop shaking and grawing on his balls. What the hell do in do to calm these dogs down?
Uhh... That's normal for Chihuahuas. Have fun watching them!
Is that one on the left lying in it's own shit? Pig disgusting.
Yeah but now the little black one is shitting too
What is this little guy?
australian possum
>>2306561
They've been introduced to New Zealand, though, and they're pests ruining our ecosystems.
>>2306561
It's like the American possum and the Australian possum got switched at birth. That thing's too cute for Australia.
I'm not sure if it's the right board but I found pic related and I'd like to know what kind of mushroom it is and if it's edible. Found it in northern France.
Another pic
You're getting mushrooms at this time of the year? Holy shit
We have threads about plants and rocks every once in a while, so posting a mushroom doesn't seem out of place IMO. Can't help you with identification though, sorry.

FACT: Giraffes are the best
Just try to prove me wrong, /an/.
Local zoo had a baby giraffe born last year. The cuteness was overwhelming. So uncoordinated. So curious about everything.
>>2305046
Aww, its face is so wrinkly
>Bonsai giraffes aren't a real thing
How do you deal with them?
I'm german and these pests are everywhere around the cities nowadays. Back in the DDR there wasn't as many but when the unification happened, suddenly there are cockroaches everywhere in our big cities. We provide them with too food, warm homes and quality shelter and they breed everywhere like mice. Every summer I see them on the streets pestering the women and I feel really angry and wish the government would allow me to just clean them off our country like it is 1939.
Sometimes I feel like I'm in a Third World tropical country when I come back home in my tiny apartment in a poor part of Hamburg and I see these disgusting animals scattered around every dark alley looking at me with mockery of how modernity has killed Germany.
These animals are the most ungerman creature roaming my country right now. How do I efficiently get rid of them, /an/? Not only from my apartment, but from the entire city and (hopefully) the country someday.
Do you have any recommendations?
/pol/ trying to be funny

this situation is not funny
we have the same problem here in austria
It's marvelous how life can adapt even to manmade environments
Alright so, i really wanna help out Siberian tigers and Amur leopards and a bunch of other animals and for a guy living in the UK it doesnt feel like i can do much other than donate and hope that the people at wwf arent gonna fuck me over. i just wanna help but i wanna know if wwf is credible in actually putting work towards helping endangered animals, i mean the organization is worth over 700million so what would they need my donations for?
is it all a scam or is the money you donate being put to good use? and has anybody here donated?
Bump, please
You don't really know what exactly you're donating too. They're often spread out. Such as, an ad guilting you over tigers and pandas will make people donate but people aren't going to if they advertised an uglier animal which is why all you usually see in ads are big cats, bears, whales and elephants.
If you want something more specific, consider looking for zoos with a breeding or rehabilitation program for the animals you want to donate too.

Euthanize your cat so that it stops killing birds.
Anyone keep slugs n snails? I always loved slugs, and thought it would be cool to have my own Leopard Slug, but couldn't really find the best time/place to bring one home
A few months ago I was out on my deck and a relatively big one came crawling out on the pavement towards me. It must have been a sign.
He now lives in a warm house just in time before the winter. He's like a refugee! In fact, he's kind of like a dog. He wakes up, runs around his area, then when he's done, goe right back to his same doghouse (cave) every time.
Anyway, I have a couple of questions because there is actually a shockingly low amount of info on the internet about slugs' behavoir (especially as pets).
Been feeding him things that are "high calorie" like date fruit, banana, and pumpkin seeds, and afterwards he doesn't eat sometimes for several days after. Is this just because they don't need to eat as quickly after a big meal? Another idea was maybe that it was relatively cold in my room in the morning and while I'm at work (no heater on) and such cause it's winter (and crappy insulation), I know slugs and snails do hibernate, but I read only when it's below +5'C. Clearly my room isnt that cold, but maybe it's contributing to the dormancy?
Also been reading about Springtails and isopods as "janitors" recently, and I think my tank already has some springtails from the original moss I put in, they aren't bugging my slug by walking over and near it are they? There isn't very many, maybe 2 dozen, but they are hanging out near his 'cave'.
Who else has a gastropod pets? I think they're very cool.
A close up of that loveable face.
So these are Springtails, right? I purged a few of them so that they don't multiply like crazy, but I'm fairly sure they are.
when he starts picking up momentum he stretches out real long and it's funny
Neighbors dog hates me, even though we see each other for 6 fucking years. It tries to jump over the wall to get at me. Is it too stupid to realize I have my own territory and merely passing by the common path by its home does not constitute trespassing ( I do my best to ignore it.)? It's a pomerian mix. I'm very friendly with the neighbor and would really like to get along with this dog.
sounds like your neighbour fucked up training it somewhere. maybe carry some treats on you and try to toss one or two to him when you go past?
>poorly trained, aggressive, territorial dog left in front yard to harass neighbours
>it's a fucking pomeranian

Tried that. It eats the snacks and snarls at me while doing it. Felt like a cuck after a couple of times.
Pee and mark your territory
Has anyone picked up a stray kitten or pup from a stray dog/cat? Like they just fell behind and you grabbed it to keep as a pet. Is this messed up? I know a guy who did this and he defends himself saying he is giving the stray kitten a home.
Is it wrong to take kittens/pups from their mothers?
The sooner the better. A stray kitten will quickly turn feral if not socialized with humans before 10 weeks.
After that it will be a one way trip to the pound, assuming it doesn't get splattered on the road first.
you should either take in the mother and young or take them to a shelter
the only time seperating the mother and young isnt scummy is if the mother rejects the babies and they need to be bottle raised, or in the situation of feral (not stray, FERAL) cats where the kittens still have a chance of being socialized to humans and spayed/neutered and kept as house cats. Just snatching one of the babies and going on with your day is shitty.
>>2307535
But aren't most stray cats feral? Like if they run away from you it's a chance they are feral right?
So in most cases, wouldn't taking kittens be good?
