Dog aggression. Some dogs are more prone to dog aggression than others. Some dogs become aggressive from poor socialization. Other times it can be brought on from bad experiences. You can train out dog aggression even in adult dogs, but it's easier to just socialize them well while still young. Even went to a dog class once, and he behaved very well around the other dogs in his class.
But then standing outside the cafeteria after class he suddenly got in a fight with some dog after all.

Just any dog he ever sees out in the street becomes an instant target.

I think if I tried to socialize him with a bunch of other dogs, he'd simply grow to accept those particular dogs, but still rush at any other dog he sees afterwards.

OP here, I'm also pretty sure this isn't fearful aggression on his part.

A dog well socialized as a puppy and then kept away from other dogs for years is most likely going to develop issues with other dogs. You need to KEEP UP with socializing them and training. Also why is your dog bolting so much? Keep your dog on a leash and contained. Your dog is going to hurt another dog or a human and is at high risk for getting euthanized because of it.

Go back to dog-training classes. You are not informed or experienced enough to go about this right and safely.

This is why I said consult a behaviorist instead of just expecting it to be solved by expecting your aggressive dog to just go and play happily with other dogs because "they're not weenies"

I'm a dog trainer and the place I train dogs at is "the farm." It's a large acre property with very large dogs that are very fast and even-tempered. Your dog needs a lesson in humility the same way a person sometimes does.

Dogs need to "spar" with other dogs to calm down. Socializing isn't the same thing. Your dog doesn't need to be beaten up by other dogs but it does need to realize the difference between play and a life-and-death situation.

A dogs temperment is its temperment it cannot be trained or socialised out of it. The way to control aggression is through obedience.

Does your dog walk at heel? When you walk your dog it should be at heel, no sniffing, no marking, no pulling away to distractions its focus should be maintaning heel.

Purchase a herm sprenger stainless steel slip chain and a decent biothane or leather leash, this chain is only used when training, walking, when you have visitors etc etc. The idea is that your dog will know it is time to focus and that your doing something fun (training/spending time with him) when the chain goes on. The first thing you need to teach is walking at heel. The slip chain is NOT A CHOKE CHAIN the dog should never be choked, when you correct the dog with the chain, you pull hard then move forward in one motion. The sound of the chain tightning is its mothers growl and the sensation is the mothers nip. Pull the leash back hard then in the same movement move your hand back to where it was if not closer towards the dog, the correction must be released instantly to avoid the dog instinctively pulling against the resistence. You will only need to do this a few times, the sound of the chain will become enough.

For example your dog pulls infront of you and tries to cut you off, correct him then walk forward at the same time, he will understand you are leading in no time (his aggression may dissapear since he is no longer out front making threat assesments).

If the dog shows interest in another dog across the street, you may need to correct 2 or 3 times to pull him back into focus on you and walking.

No idea, my late pit loved people to death but he had an innate hate of small dogs. He killed two stray pinschers the only time he escaped. Bolted right to them and just crushed them to death. Didn't give a fuck because pinschers are a horrible and annoying race.
