Hey there /an/. I'm mostly posting this to vent, but if anyone can give some pointers on how to correct some possibly poor cat training I'd appreciate it.
Last September, my housemates got a kitten. I neither like nor dislike cats, so I agreed to having one. One of my housemates, I'll call him Catman, is pretty knowledgeable about them due to his mom's having owned several throughout his childhood. My own knowledge is basically nil, so I just did minor stuff like buy tons of food, change her litter box, and give her attention when no one else was at home/awake.
About a month or so after getting her, I broke my leg and went back to live with my parents til I was back on my feet again. I've just come back home a few days ago, and I'm kind of shocked at how badly this cat seems to be turning out.
Before I left, her roaming area consisted of a room we set aside for her, the hallways, Catman's room, and our living room. I'd also let her into my room if she wanted, though I have a lot of wiring and stuff in here so I'd kick her out if I had to scold her for trying to get at the back of my computer or something too often. The only luxury items we had for the cat were a couple of small fuzzy toys for it to pounce on and whatnot (we didn't bother with a bed for a while because she loved sleeping on Catman's).
Since I came back, it seems the only cat-related items we've gotten are a cat bed and a water spray bottle. Her roaming area's pretty much restricted to her room and the halls. I think even Catman won't let her in his room now. Whenever she gets into the living room, my housemates immediately scold and throw her out. Apart from feeding her, this seems to be their only interaction with her these days. I don't know how long this has been going on for.

Because she's got fuckin' nothing to do, I decided to keep my door open for her. Like I said, I've got some hazards in here along with things I plain don't want her to mess up, and she just doesn't learn to leave that stuff alone. Apparently this is why she's banned from the living room, since we have vidya consoles set up in there. So, I end up having to kick her out as well.
Letting her in my room seems to have been a mistake, as now when she's in a playful mood she solely seeks out my door and scratches at it constantly. A couple days ago she figured out how door handles work and, much like with wires, she just does not learn to leave it alone. I've lost track of how many times I've had to shoo her away just while typing this. I'm now physically losing sleep because it's loud as hell and she's waking me up. I'm stressed out that when I go back to work full-time she'll get in here and mess something up bad, or worse, hurt herself.
Catman says she's a difficult cat, but I dunno if anyone's been training her properly in the first place. I'm gonna get at them about it today, because it seems like a case of everyone wanting a kitten cause they're cute without wanting to put in any effort on maintaining one.
I didn't want to take the moral high ground since I don't really know how to care for them by myself (which is why I'd also really appreciate any advice). But then again, my very first day back here I walked fifteen minutes up and down the street on my half-healed leg for cat food because she'd had nothing to eat but dental cat treats for two days.
>>2298399
have you tried playing with her? tiring her out by playing with her might be the solution
>>2298399
also, talk to your roommates about getting her more toys to keep her busy. a cat tree and / or scratcher can help to keep her away from your things
>stepdad's phone somehow fell out of my bag while i was out and i couldn't find it when backtracking
>screen was fucking dead but i was using it to charge my phone's battery since my phone's chargeport is dead
>worst of all is i had many of my cats' baby photos on there and i don't know how many are on my old phone or my mum's old phone
I fucking hate this planet.
Get another kitten, Much more profit

My family already did that last week. One of my stepdad's friends has a cat whose kittens weren't coping well with the environment of the house they were living in and were likely going to be put down if they couldn't get adopted, so we ended up getting two of them. I'm not at the house at the moment, but I hope my parents are taking lots of photos of the kittens while me and my sister are gone like we asked them to.
That sucks OP. Hope you find the phone. Next time though, use Dropbox to sync your camera pictures as soon as you take them so you can lose the phone without worrying about the picture loss.
Post your cats, /an/

Does my yellow bellied slider look healthy?
I plan on moving her to a kiddie pool so mind the size. She has stopped eating much so I don't know whether or not she's fine. Also, we supplement her with little calcium turtles from Walmart.
>>2298036
Op here again, just wanted to add she's very lethargic and doesn't eat meat anymore, but she won't eat vegetables.
>>2298036
photo quality is too bad
is the water actually this shallow?
what is the diet?
how old is it?
temperatures water/land?
does it have an UV lamp?
>>2298045
Sorry about the quality.
The water's shallow, but like I said, I plan on moving her to a much bigger area within this week.
Her diet is mostly shrimp or other raw fish, sometimes chicken breast.
She's about 4-5 years old
Her land temperature is about 74 degrees or lower
Her water temperature is 70-74 constant
The light I bought says its a UV lamp, so yes.
What do you do when dog decides he wants to go to a certain path and refuses to move in the other direction?
You need some paracord.
Tie a smaller honda knot in the paracord at one end to make a slip leash then tie another larger honda to put your hand through as the leash.
When your walking the leash should be loose, when your dog is distracted check the leash with force to corret the dog, its tough love.
When making the correction you need to pull and release immediatly otherwise the animals natural instinct to pull against the leash will kick in, you want to avoid that.
Look up Big Game Indicating Dogs on facebook and the guy explains it alot more eloquently. You will end up with a dog you can have off leash which can follow you around.

How old doggo?
My 15 week puppy walks forever to any direction in forest but in suburbs he tends to stop and sit down to watch people walk by.
In big cities he walks just fine and doesn't care about people, if he wants to pee or poo he starts to stop and sit, same with if the walk has gone on for too long (15-30mins) and he wants to rest or go home. Generally accepts where to go and doesn't want to go certain directions.
But the problem is when it's a pretty quiet street and only one or two people walking around, puppy wants to wait them out.
It's been like this since I got him as 7 week old puppy. Trying to get rid of the "people interest" aka sitting down when seeing somebody walking near us. I asked a dog trainers and they just told to get the dogs attention by voice or treats and try to get them moving and don't let them take notice of the people.
Why are vultures cooler than any other raptor bird?

if cloning your pet was affordable, would you?
i have a cat and i wish it would die.
No. It'll look the same but won't act like it. If looks were all that mattered I'd just get another dog of the same breed.
The only reason I could see to clone would be for breeding purposes. Say you have a champion purebred that dies from an accident or it just never got a chance to breed with a suitable mate.

>No. It'll look the same but won't act like it. If looks were all that mattered I'd just get another dog of the same breed.
This. I believe they determined a while ago that cloning doesn't produce the same personality. And iirc, sometimes you can get an animal with different markings, even. It just won't be the same.
Are my ears floppy enough?
Also post your dogs Rate ears/10 thread
>>2297365
pretty floppy, is that an aussie?
>>2297365
8/10, very floppy but could be floppier.
>>2297392
9/10, nearly at maximum flop.
>>2297365
I don't really like dogs with floppy ears. Upright and erect ears are best ears.
Was wondering if you had any tips to stop a rabbit peeing on your bed. From what I can tell it happens because:
>The bed is soft, absorbant and 'peeable'
>It smells stongly like me so the rabbit wants to mark it as well
He is neutered and fully litter trained other than this problem.
Right now he free roams everywhere but I have to keep a cardboard barrier next to my bed to stop him getting up there. Pretty annoying to have to climb over it all the time.
My 3 month old bunny likes to pee on the dining room couch every now and then

This one is mine. Achatina. It's 4 years old and I gave almost 0 fucks about him throughout this time. I fed it with fruit leftovers and ground egg shells. When there was no food, it was just hibernating. It was hibernating for like 1-1,5 years total. And he's still so huge. Apparently they can live for like 10 years, and they will grow for as long as they are alive. I expect him to be twice as large before he dies. He doesn't smell, and his poop is super quality humus, which has no smell as well. It's so damn fertile that some of the forgotten veg seeds grow up in this soil.
Imagine this thing sitting on your shoulder as you go out to pick up some chicks on the streets!
Also, their shell color will change depending on what you feed them. I'm pretty sure it's possible to create something like picrelated if you add some special ingredients to their food.
Which sort of feelings do animals have?
>>2296681
Based on personal experience with my own puppy, it goes as follows.
Anger - whenever we try to clip his nails.
Happiness - whenever there's ham around.
Sleepiness - because why not
These 3 basically cycle over and over.
Isn't the general consensus that only dogs and cats have feelings and it's okay to treat the rest however shitty as you please.
Most if not all the same emotions as humans.
The better question would be: What emotions do animals not have?
My pet rabbit likes to go machspeed in his cage and run in circles. This kicks up a lot of bedding and fecal pellets that end up on the floor. Anyone have a solution for this? I imagine people with guinea pigs and the like have experienced similar issues.
buy a smaller, non wire frame cage with no holes and no space for your bunner to even move. duh. are you dumb op?
>>2296635
>No space to move
I don't want to coop up the rabbit more than I already am leaving him in a cage
>>2296638
>I already am leaving him in a cage
Exactly. That's the problem. Rabbits need more exercising and exploring area than a dinky little wire cage with wood chips bedding could provide. Many people today concert an effort to litterbox train their rabbits so they can just roam around. If not, try dedicating a room or part of a room fenced off for him to run around in.
What's he going to do, just sit there all day? Take time and let him exercise at least 1 time every day for a few hours
And stop using wood chips bedding, that shit is cancer
