what are some small frou frou hair dogs that are also smart?

Many of them are pretty smart. I think the smartest of the small dog breeds is the Pomeranian. This does not mean they are easier to train, it's actually a reason why so many small dogs are little shits. It really just means they are more work.

Miniature poodles, like their larger brethren, are pretty smart and can be as frou frou as you want.

yeah, my mom's Yorkie was able to figure out that old 'treat under a towel' test pretty quickly, and he is a bit of a little shit.

He somehow managed to catch and kill a mourning dove somehow. I still don't know how he did it.

Have any of you ever had a cat that you felt "imprinted" on you as if you were extremely close kin?

The cat I adopted when I was 4 cuddled right up in my arms every time I laid down in bed, always preferred to be in my room every house we moved to, and cared for me personally despite being neutral to other family members/humans in general. It felt like a spirit bond, with the only flaw being she was a real fucking bitch to other animals (especially cats).

Just looking for similar stories and more info on this kind of behavior. I'd like to own another cat with the same personality, and I'd like for my children to have the same kind of bond with a cat of their own instead of stuffed animals or a family chode that just wanders around. How common is this kind of personality? Is it something you can replicate? Is it maybe gender/breed related? I don't know why she grew so attached to me, I was just a hyper screamy retarded kid.

That's normal almost-every-cat behavior. Cats are also solitary for the most part. Some may live in groups to lounge, sleep or get warm though. Both my cats sleep with me but one will try to get me to come to bed and goes out of her way to curl up again my chest every time I toss or turn.

How more or less depends on the cat, and your children/potential children can easily ruin a cat's behavior if you don't lay down the law.
>>
My cat follows me around the house, even begging to be let into the restroom every morning so he can sleep on the mat while I shower.

He was properly socialized as a kitten and not weaned until around 4 months old. I adopted him shortly thereafter.

Because doggos are every animal and persons friends. It just so happens that humans can feed dogs, give them comfortable lives and give them much more regular love than other animals. Humans are premier chill buddies.
>>
Because domestication involves dumbing down an animal to make it easier for us to handle and rely on us. Otherwise they'd just fuck off and/or die.
>>
Thousands of years of domestication

I'm 19 and I'd like to work at a vet, it's something I can easily see myself doing even if it's just trivial janitorial work.

Do any of you have warnings, advice, or experience, on not just vet work but job finding in general? I know anytime somebody in /ck/ says they want to become a chef the thread gets filled with horror stories, but I used to spend a lot of time in the vets my mom worked at after school so I know the environment.

It would be my first real job, and I have no marketable traits for it besides owning dozens of animals (albeit only about 10 were family close, the rest being livestock) and having a mother who also worked at several clinics. As long as they don't take too much advantage of me I'd be willing to work with no pay for up to 6 months, after which I believe I would have proven myself enough to ask for a paycheck, or take my resume to another place.

I just worry that it's too difficult to get into without college, and I doubt hiring would even be considered with any kind of salary for me.

Where do you live?
Did you check if apprenticeships in that field are a thing where you live?
>>
>>2299052
I don't think there are apprenticeship college courses I could realistically take in SoCal
>>
>>2299016
You can be a vet tech without college, but don't expect to get paid as well as the licensed vet techs, and you won't be doing any surgeries. You'll probably have to work as a kennel bitch at an animal shelter for a couple of years and then wait for a VT job to open up within the shelter and hope you're more qualified than the rest. You'll be making minimum wage and working your ass off. Most vet offices will hire LVTs because they are just more helpful. You'll have to look and see in your state even allows unlicensed vet techs

What do you think of them?
Do you like em?
Why? Why not?

husk is good dog. eH pulls sled and doesn't afraid of anything
>>
I wouldn't own one but I like them.
>>
>>2299008
I generally hate people who own them. Most husky owners are obnoxious twits with poorly trained dogs. I've never really met a husky owner who I didn't immediately feel the need to distance myself from. The breed itself I don't like that much, either. All they do is scream and tear shit up. They've also been bred out of usefulness; the Alaskan husky is the one actually bred to be a sled dog.

Best wild canids coming through. First is a dhole. And here is also a documentary about a lone female african wild dog whose pack was eradicated by lions, and traveled, played and slept with hyenas and jackals. Sometimes her, a hyena or two and jackals would hunt together.

Winter coat dholes look like what I imagine a dog could look like if bred as such but I am not sure if they are able to produce hybrids with dholes. Dholes however can breed with golden jackals, and golden jackals can breed with dogs so I assume so. Unfortunately dholes are endangered otherwise we could probably give people dhole hybrids instead of them getting shit foxes.

Is it ethical to euthanize an animal? Exactly how do you know he doesn't have a strong will to live despite his apparent discomfort?
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>2298226
ethics are a social construct.

so it depends which culture you ask.

in this culture it's ethical.

in every other culture in the world it's also ethical. Because people eat animals.
>>
Even when terminally ill with internal illnesses or just fresh from suffering a fatal injury, animals generally have a "just gotta keep keepin' on" mindset. If it were up to the animal, it would rather suffer and die later than not suffer and tip over in the present.
>>
>>2298303
Animals usually don't live as long in the wild and rarely reach the age they do while living with humans. Mice can live up to 3 years but barely make it to even 1 in the wild.
It's also incredibly stupid to apply human concepts and emotions to Animals. Your dog wants to die, just like you do. But unlike you, if it could, it would kill itself. Because it's not a bitch like you.

I will receive a pupper for the first time in my life by the end of next month (female GSD, will be 3 months old when it's home, like the one in pic related)

it'll maul a toddler eventually and everyone you see out on the street while you're walking it will think you bought it to have sex with it's butthoel
>>
You're probably in for a poorly trained dog that'll end up being put in a shelter because its owner had no idea what to expect. It'll also probably have an unstable temperament and joint issues as it ages because I doubt it came from a good breeder. Have fun, anon! Hope you don't give him to a kill shelter!
>>
>>2298212
I'm okay with the toddler part, that shit sounds hardcore.

>>2298213
She will come from a professional breeder that raises them for competition. The guy usually sells them for about 800€ but my father's a business partner of his and he will pretty much give away the pupper for free as long as we treat it decently. Also, both of my parents had GSDs before, so don't I think they are setting the stage for a poorly trained dog.

Technically I'm not even owning the little shit, I just want to know what involves being in the same house where a pupper lives ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

PETA is shit and too retarded. What are some other good associations for animal rights and defending animals?

I have a 10 gallon tank that I want to use for something.

I know most pets don't comfortably live in something so small so I was thinking something like a planted aquarium with just plants or a terrarium.

Any ideas?
