What did he mean by this?
why do russians like 3do so much?
>>3574323
Piracy and M&M/HoMM
>>3574334
that doesn't explain it. every system has piracy
>>3574337
N64 didn't. Guess why it doesn't exist in Russia.
Same with SNES, Mega Drive got way more popular than it because it had cheaper console/pirated cartridges. And that's despite SNES was hyped by the same guy who sold people on famiclones there. Remember, no one in Russia would pay more than ~$5 for a game at the time.
3DO also came at a time when Russian market was wowed by famiclones and opened up to "bit wars". So it was the tits for some impressionable young people. Surprisingly, it caught up. I knew a guy who owned a shitton of licensed games for it. Even Plumbers with Ties.
Anybody excited about Nintendo's
mini Nes?
I'll buy it even though I know I'm being ripped off.
I've been emulating all that shit on my pc for the last 15+ years.
I'll probably just throw it up on a closet shelf and forget about it.
Its only about 59.99 usd,
so i might get it.

I remember hearing horror stories of those compressed cards erasing so I've never used one, only went for the 15 block ones.
I've been thinking about playing some RPGs I bought but never got around to, after my first Playstation failed in 2004 (laser fixed multiple times, connectors loosening and resoldered, when the connector to the controllers broke off from the circuit board I gave up).
To be on the safe side I got 3 consoles (2 grey old, 1 white psone) and bunch of controllers.
Then I realized, what if the memory card fails? I have 2 original sony 15 block cards (one bought in 1998, been in my closet since 2004, other picked up at a flea market) and one chinese copy.
Does anyone have experience with using these old cards? Do they work or will they start failing from old age? I've never had a problem before.
>>3574309
I've never had a genuine Sony 15 block card fail. Those should be alright.
Using an off brand / multi page compressed card is definitely risky. I have had those fail on me. I wouldn't chance it.
>>3574309
Sony memory cards are top notch and last a long time. They get read from or written to a single-digit number of times per day. Tops
>>3574309
I have two two-page memory cards that I used for nearly twenty years. One fucked up and the other still works fine. I probably just got lucky.
So we all agreed right?
Is PSWHATEVER YOU WANT FAGGOT! GET A LIFE!
>is
you blew it ching chong
It's Playstation X or PSX.
if you actually said PSX or PS1 in public, people would look at you funny (not that you friendless hermits would know anything about that)
it was always called the playstation
Good or not?
It aight.
>>3573861
It's a great game. I come back to it every few years but every time with less enthusiasm.
>>3573861
It's a timeless game that all other games like it try to emulate and never quite do. It's the best of its genre and all other games similar are inferior in some way or another.
What is best console for racan games?
I guess this board only plays RPGs.

‘Apple II had a line-up of great adventure games such as Ultima or
Wizardry. Honestly, we adored them and they were our ultimate dream. But this
was not very strategic. We loved these games too much to think about the
consumers’ needs. Then we were stunned by DQ in 1986. Enix assembled the best
staff in the industry and made a maniac game like an RPG more accessible to general
consumers. We just couldn’t believe that they could do this, and we discovered the
actual essence of commercialization.’
Is he right? Are jRPGs just commercial RPGs ?
Originally they were, but now (i.e. at 12/31/1999) they aren't.
>>3573821
I find it strange that so many jap devs are macfags. shit even nintendo used the Apple IIGS cpu in the snes.
>>3573828
But DQ VII is the easiest entry of the installment, which suits the definition of commerical.
is this game good

does anyone else find the poorly-translated and pronounced English in old Japanese games entertaining? post your favorite examples.

Which was the best Nina, canonically speaking?
1 - cool
2 - racemixing scum
3 - bitch as a kid
4 - shy
5 - poorfag
2 wins purely on the "fantasy babe" factor
I don't really like Nina. She's too lawful.
That being said, 2>1>5>4>3
based purely on personality
Final Fantasy is honestly the most disappointing franchise Ive ever seen, for years people have told me that it's amazing and I need to play it, but that's the biggest crock of shit Ive ever heard. Final fantasy is the McDonalds of RPGs and to be honestDragon quest/warrior is Burger King.
Just so we know where you're coming from, what are some RPGS you do like, OP?
>>3573183
ff is ass but
>Dragon quest/warrior is Burger King
thats where you crossed the line sir, Dragon Quest is at least the Chile's of RPGs

Super Mario Rpg, Paper Mario, Mothers 1-3, not sure if it counts but tower of druaga, not retro butI like undertale just a bit. Maybe Im not the person to ask about them, but I prefer actual gameplay in my ganes, not watching numbers and flashy animations like jangling keys in front of a small child.
ITT: We say something bad about our favorite /vr/ game.

Supply crawlers break the game hard.
Bolse
>Dat constant Gamespy disconnection on multiplayer
Holy fucking shit niggers.
The magic system is too simple and easily exploited
Hey /vr/, I'm an amateur fighting game player that mostly plays Capcom games against human opponents. I enjoy SNK games, but I'm not very good at them. If there was one KoF game that would be good for practice/understanding the series more in general, what would that be?
Also, general KoF/SNK fighting thread.
kof 98 and 2002 are the main retro ones people play. 96,97,and 99 are good too
kof is easy to pickup if you are into capcom fighters i would say. the jumps are pretty complicated though
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r75Lz1Drp8g
I think KOF is more rewarding of aggressive play while SF is more rewarding of defensive
>>3572989
>all that shorthop and hyperhop shit
I could never get into these games just because of this alone. Are those easier to do on stick? I play pad and it's just not reasonable.
Is it really a good game?
So far it feels like there's not really very much to do despite an open RPG facade. Like, it really seems like a linear story game with WRPG trappings.
>>3572593
That's how the SNES version is, the Genesis version is more nonlinear.
It gets quite repetitive but the lore and the story are quite engaging (a matter of taste probably) so for me it was a good experience. Also the soundtrack is surprisingly catchy.
>>3572593
If you're not into gritty cyberpunk, maybe shadowrun isnt for you.
The setting alone should be enough for you.
