SHES 20 YOU GUYS, 20
lets talk Tomb Raider, what are your best memories?
>>3582124
The waterfall in the third level. Primitive, yes, but to me it was beautiful
Is TR3 worth playing? I loved 1 but 2 was kind of meh because you were barely in tombs and you mostly fought shootbangs rather than animals and monsters.
>>3582130
I know that feeling, I can't remember the level name but the water one where you empty out this big room of water and its got these high up bridges, i remember it looking really stunning but then when I went back to it, theres this crazy clipping distance so you can't even see the other side of the room.
I don't even remember it being like this!!!!
How do I get good at Mario Golf?
>>3581952
Pay attention to the wind. The speed and trajectory matter a lot.
Technical characters boast better results than Power characters.
Only max out the putting on the first shot. Doing it any other time is pointless unless you like positive feedback with the NICE SHOT shit.
I may be speaking of an entirely different Mario Golf altogether but I'm sure it still applies.
If you're playing a friend don't forget to talk shit with the c-buttons.
By playing Hot Shots Golf, preferably 2 or 3. Master that and Mario Golf will seem like the child's play it's designed to be.
...but why not just use Dixie Kong?
Diddie Kong is faster. Oh wait, who is this chick?
>>3581913
She was busy changing Kiddy's diapers in Not-Canada.
I've never understood this criticism. Not all girls with blonde hair are the exact fucking same. Tiny is a different character with a different personality. Look at the flower on her, look at her hat, how she sounds. She is a super cute girly girl. Dixie's character isn't an overload of cuteness. Tiny fits exactly with what they were trying to do in DK64. Maybe it started out being for Dixie but then they realized they would have to completely change Dixie and this flower girl was better.
Hey, remember me?
I remember i almost asked for one for christmas, but changed my mind and got a virtual boy instead
>>3581745
Which games did you get?
Help me out guys, where can I find the original versions of Baldur's Gate? I see everywhere just the EE versions.
Also do the originals save your data to a new folder in the documents folder? I tried to find ways to change but couldn't find any.
#!MwlQjKCA!_U403RfiDtoK1hneDOxqdB2hNhtbhOklajq0-1D4Jbo
>Also do the originals save your data to a new folder in the documents folder? I tried to find ways to change but couldn't find any.
They save to the game's directory for me, in a folder named "Saves".
Where did the originals go anyway?
Is Beamdog so aware that their "enhanced edition" is complete shit that they're actively removing them or something?
>>3581943
OK, I got it. What are some mods I should get?
Started playing Final Fantasy 2/4. How long does it take for the game to become challenging? I'm still at the very beginning (the little girl just officially joined my party) but battles are just fucking annoyingly slow even on the fastest speed.
Enemies aren't dealing shit for damage (a bunch of them hit for 1 point!) and it's just slow and aggravating. But, it's the beginning of the game, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's just the very very early game that's so easy it's boring.
So how long does it take for the game to get kind of challenging? Does it get challenging or is the rest of it a cakewalk?
Playing the SNES version if that makes a difference.
>>35815972 never get's challenging
The remake of 4 is more challenging than the original 4 but the original gets hard about 70% of the way through and then get's easy as fuck for the rest of the game if you don't run away from any fights.
Never, really. You never have to grind, because any roadblocks or tougher dungeons can be cleared if you just play smart, though.
The challenge in most jRPGs is in preparation for the long, grueling dungeons where you might get buttfucked and will be forced to start from a saving point. And figuring out the boss patterns and weaknesses. Some people grind, some people learn how to use available resources well. Juggling the available items for occasions, using consumables and getting summons for Rydia will deterine your success.
It's a comfy adventure, mostly, though, and you should not have problems as a reasoning adult.
/v/ banned my ass again, now you guys are my friends.
The ones that aren't translation or censorship related.
The ones that make you go WTF.
>Illusion of Gaia
>Leviathan
>translated as Riverson
Wasn't censorship. That entire game was an amateur hackjob when it came to the english translation.
>>3581208
Title screen in Silent Hill is differnet in English vs. Japanese versions. Japanese has a title screen very similar to SH2. In English however, it's a scene of something, what looks like outside in the fog of the city. Why they changed that is beyond me. Perhaps they felt the title was too bland.
>>3581310
Japanese title screen.
Retro games with romhacks that are better than the original game. Not for romhacks that completely change the game like Super Metroid Redesign. But more so for romhacks that fix faults of the original like Simon's Quest Redaction.
Pic related as the romhack keeps the bugfixes and improved sprites of the american version, but reverts the censorship on the tiddies.
>>3580980
You can look this up on emuparadise and other sites. Numbnuts.
Key word: DECENSORED.
>>3580980
Censored version looks better in my opinion.
>>3581007
Not only uncensored patches.
Some are better translations, bugfixes, improved sprites or music.
There was one I remember hearing about for Chrono Trigger on the Snes that included he PS1 cutscenes. But of course would work on emulator only.
Where's a good place to start for dungeon crawlers?
Eye of the Beholder interests me and I like that it's based off of D&D.
What are your favorites?
>>3580942
Might and Magic 6 is my favorite but it's a very different take on the genre. Eye of the Beholder 2 is good if you don't mind lots of teleporting and pressure plate puzzles. Are you looking for real-time ones like Dungeon Master or turn-based like Wizardry? If turn-based, check out Wizardry 6 or Might and Magic 3.
I would start with the original Dungeon Master. It's still perfectly playable.
>>3580983
Wizardry is not a good start, especially not Wizardry 6.
I have a 3ds xl currently but I would rather get a device that would let me put emulators on it without having to hack it.
So far I've been looking at the Nvidia shield primarily but looked at a few other android gaming tablets or devices. I was impressed by the nvidia shield for being a full controller which I like while also being able to run emulators up to the gamecube and possibly wii generation. Unfortunately it's been discontinued and I'm guessing there's not much out there on the market that can compete with it. I heard rumors there might be a second generation coming out in november or december but nothing has really been confirmed yet.
Are there any other options I don't know about? Also I wasn't sure if I should post this in games or inspect your gadget so if I need to move it it'll be fine.
>i have something great, but fuck it. come with me down the bad decisions rabbit hole
man fuck off and do your thinking by yourself, faggot.
>>3580915
I own both the Nvidia Shield Portable and Tablet (non K1) and would say if you want a system just to play emulation or Android games and nothing else, then they're a fine handheld or tablet. Just remember, they're either discontinued (portable) or still selling it as of now if you go to the tablet. Hell, if you like the Nvidia Shield stuff, I would go get the tablet K1 as it will be around $200 right now or less new and with a controller, it's a nice portable emulation tablet. Also, the used market for the portable is a bit too high and you better spend it on the tablet with what they're asking for.
Still, if you already own a Android phone which have a decent specs today, just get a Bluetooth controller and you should be okay and much more cheaper. The rumor of Nvidia is going to make a 2nd gen portable isn't going to happen as they're putting their efforts right now on the new Nintendo hardware. I think this is the same for the tablet.
For new handheld to look at, the Chinese GDP handheld is something to look at but at the price they're asking for, I will wait and see impression about it for the people who buy it.
>>3580915
the nvidia shield portable is objectively the best handheld emulation device, bar none
How many sprite-based games are there on N64?
Is it true that they aren't actually 2D sprites, but basic polygons made to resemble them? I remember hearing something vaguely along those lines.
>>3580827
>Is it true that they aren't actually 2D sprites, but basic polygons made to resemble them?
Yeah. Two triangles to form a square and then textured with the image data. You can kind of see it if you turn on wireframes.
>>3580827
There are actually more than you'd think. N64 has probably one of the best 2D-animated games from that era, Wonder Project J2, and it was also an early game from 96.
Pic is from Rakuga Kids, that's the sprite animation sheet for just 1 of the characters.
>Is it true that they aren't actually 2D sprites, but basic polygons made to resemble them?
I also remember reading this, but I think it also applies to PS1 and even the Saturn, I guess it had to fo with 5th gen's architecture change.

So shorten it down, remove some old news.
What are some weird games with unusual gameplay (and preferably a creepy atmosphere)?
Pic related is Intelligent Cube.
Also here is Sentinel Returns.
>>3580757
My ex fucking loved this game so I was happy to trade it away in '99 after we broke up but then its value rose considerably and I felt I should try to pick up another copy but I also felt weird like I was being nostalgic for her but then I was checking out a retro budget bundle for completeness and one of the games I wasn't even interested in had been swapped for a copy. Not bad for five bucks.
On topic here are a couple similar unusual Playstation games that also share a creepy halloweeny quality as well

>>3580757
This game is the fucking shit. I forgot the story (if there is one), but I always liked how the game felt like you're trying to help the little dude survive a special kind of hell.
Never sold anything on ebay before. You have any advice for a guy trying to sell off pic related?
Thanks.
Try to get about three fifty
Take a picture of the front, back, and the PCB. Include a photo of it working. Clean the pins thoroughly before selling to avoid someone getting it and claiming that it isn't working when all they'd have to do is clean the pins.
If they are sought after items, I'd think you'd do well to list as an open auction unless you have a definite amount you want out of them. If any of them aren't as hot or if you have a set price that you want, do BIN with Best Offer option.
>>3580397
wtf are those weird ass speckles in the image, are those ghosts
nigga you haunted
Just got one of these a couple of days ago. What are your thoughts on it?
My wife and I love it. It really saves space.
I'm pretty critical of modern "retro" clone consoles but I have to give this thing really high marks. FPGA cloning is theoretically the most accurate cloning possible and I haven't read anything that would lead me to doubt it's the case here. It seems to have a good selection of features that while not as broad as the Jack DIY-NES 2 (its only direct competitor) does include HDMI (rather than VGA) and other such desirable features as a case, a 72-pin NES slot and controller ports at a similar price point.
I love mine. No problems as of yet. Plays all of my games great including the bootlegs I've found over the years and even works with my FDS which is a huge plus.
