Is this true? Do the best of Sega Genesis games lack that special something, that "magic" of the very best SNES games?
Did Genesis games always have some kind of little flaw that prevented them from being true classics?
>>3580262
It's an opinion so it's obviously true in that sense. I had both but for some reason over the years my genesis collection has always been more than twice as big because I ended up liking more of the games on it.
Opinions will always vary though, that's what makes them opinions.

>Play game for first time as a child
>"Oh my fucking god! Everything is great! Literal perfection!"
>Someone else plays the same game for the first time as an adult
>"I guess it's okay."
>>3580262
No, that's autism.
SNES was marketed mainly for kids of that time.
Genesis was marketed mainly for teens and adults.
All else is no lifer gobbledigook and autistic ramblings.
Like one better than the other? Who fucking cares.
Anyone who has played the Medarot games for GBC?
No, because translation never.
>>3580413
I know the first game was translated recently, but that wasn't for GBC.
I played almost them all. Nice Pokémon-style games, although a bit repetitive. Even with the changes they added and the new medarots the series got stale just after 2.
5 looks amazing and has a nice comfy color palette, looking almost like a GBa game, but no one liked the countryside Japan setting and the new protagonist.
What's a good game to leave running in your room as a work of art? Not to play, but to display the screen and play the music.
Aesthetic of the system itself may be important as well.
I suppose what I'm looking for is the finest 'Attract mode'
Zelda 2, in a town, seems like it would be peaceful with pleasant music.

Yu-no for the pc-98.
Great art and great soundtrack, and the intro cinematic is pretty cool.

Which are the best Rogue Clones with Tiles?
So no, i don't mean roguelikes in general, but the ones close to the original Rogue. And with tiles!
The Fushigi no Dungeon series is good.

Cool, this game is awesome.

Fucking hope so. Would like to see more mods and hacks that can run on real hardware too.

>Fucking hope so. Would like to see more mods and hacks that can run on real hardware too.
It really sucks that the SM64 hacking community is made up of 15 year olds who hardly know what an N64 is and couldn't care less about their hacks actually working outside of poorly coded emulators.

Drakan: Order of the Flame
I've never played it, but if it's an action-adventure game where you can ride dragons like I think it is, I need it now.

>you're only a true retro gamer is you played a game released in late 1999
Top kek 90's baby
I'm almost done with pic related (100% on everything except the last world) and have 100%ed 2 and 3 in the past few months. My terrible opinion, in case you're wondering, is 2>3>1, because I really like the "platforming with side challenges" of 2 but 3 takes it too far and is obviously rushed while 1 has good platforming but weird controls for someone who played only 2 and 3 as a kid (that initial D charging...)
Anyway, let's have a thread about 5th generation collectathons/3d platformers. I've been using Spyro to calm down when other multiplayer games get me angry, but I'm out of Spyro. I guess I should play the Banjo series next, but what do I go to after that?

What are good retro games to play while listening podcast (preferibly for SNES)? RPG's with little story, lots of grinding and some exploration. I found Megami Tensei I pretty good (only bad thing is the OST being too good), they have to be pretty basic but still interesting games.
>>3578362
The NES version aged terribly imo.
Play KMT.
>>3578619
Already played it, don't know why i posted a screenshot of the NES version.

well it does have a cooler opening
hey /vr/,
as a kid, my father gave me this console (more pictures following), a "700 in 1"-bootleg-console he claimed someone from work imported to europe (this was around 1992 and he said it originated from south korea). it contains some 8-bit-classics like super mario, tetris, donkey kong and arkanoid among some games wich have never been released outside of south korea and japan (some of them appeared on the wii store a few years ago).
there are literally no infos about this console nowhere and i was curious if anyone here had one too? as far as i know this is the second version with a genesis-look, the first one looked more like a famicon. the slot is for famicon games.
anyone? is this worth something? i don't want to sell it, it works fine and even gets the aspect ratio on my flatscreen right.
close up of the famicon-slot.
the only piece of info it provides.
games 1/3. everything else are modifications of the shown games, like more enemies, faster gameplay and so on.
So, I usually just use my X-Box 360 controller in the PC to play modern stuff and is great, but oh dear god the d-pad is AWFUL.
Usually it is used for stuff like holster the weapon or simple stuff like that, so that is fine, but I tried to play some Super C yesterday and jesus fuck, the piece of shit does what it wants when it wants, I literally played the first level for 40 minutes and I could NOT beat it because the d-pad would not always respond well (I have 2, is not because is broken), while as a kid with the NES controller I rocked the motherfucker game, hell, with the keyboard I can play better...
Anyway, I see lots of MegaDrive/SNES-like controllers on Amazon/eBay, are these any good? And if so, what brand is good? Some other good alternative to play 3rd/4th gen stuff?
Thanks for any advice anons.

I know, right? How dare the good name of the NES controller gets besmirched by the garbage that is the Genesis 3-button.
