Not best game ever, but a great game, I still play it since I never decided to buy d3, it's fun and if you use /players8, the difficulty becomes awesome, it can always be improved tho, but I've never taught of how, I recomend you to play it and see if any class fits your game style

Spent hundreds of hours on it. It was amazing. Paid big bucks for a Anti-Paladin Amazon Javazon class. Only thing that could kill me was a dedicated Bone Spirit Necromancer.

Paladins were OP and super popular, so I made something that OP'd Paladins. It was a great feeling.

why has the runeword formula never been copied? i loved being able to make even low-level runewords; the high end runewords that gave me auras and crazy buffs my character couldn't use naturally like fanaticism and frozen armor are still really fun to use. i'm amazed they didn't have runes in d3

Roguelike is generally not applied to games like Diablo because at the time the term was much more strictly defined, now that it has become a indie buzzword meaning that the orc has a pink shirt this time = infinite replayability it is actually closer to the old formula than a lot of what they call roguelikes today

actually if you turn on hardcore Diablo is pretty god damned close to true oldschool roguelikes, but it's still just an action RPG with random maps

if you're not finding wands and scrolls that might kill you permanently or might wipe out entire levels of the game "rogue-lite" is a much more accurate term

you will still probably be laughed at if you try to describe Diablo this way, like arguing that Speed Racer is an anime

Recently played solo through to hell with all 7 characters.

I found the Nercomancer to be just miles and miles more fun than any other class. Rocking around with a massive army of spooky skeletons was awesome.

Sorceress, druid, barbarian and assassin are probably the next best.

Amazon and Paladin just fucking blow balls.

This is my favorite game. I've played it a thousand times for the course of the last sixteen years and I'll probably play it a thousand times more. While the multiplayer side is certainly not as enjoyable as it was during its heyday -- although the frequent ladder resets give us a glimpse -- I still love playing the game mostly single-player anyway.
