Try this because I want a relaxing flight game.
This piece of shit is the literal definition of NO FUN ALLOWED.
If you want a relaxing flight sim, then you play Microsoft Flight Simulator. Everything else is an actual game.
>he hasn't unlocked birdman mode
you don't deserve relaxation

You overlooked the most enjoyable aspect of the game
AntDude's favorite NES games

I understand spending spare cash on original consoles.
I understand collecting, for whatever reason you may have to want the original games.
I understand wanting to go the flash cart route instead because games are not cheap anymore.
I understand keeping CRTs around and hunting down nice RGB monitors for the benefits they bring.
But I will never understand spending $350 on a box that makes your consoles look exactly like they do on an emulator.
>>3585143
Take it from me
I upgraded from the basic converter to this
It's FUCKING incredible.
>>3585145
What converter? I have one of those rgb to component things for gen 4 consoles, it's alright. I'm really only concerned about lag, wish I could test one out on my TV. I also don't play much PS1 or saturn so I'm not too concerned about the resolution switching problem.
>>3585143
disposable income m8. they don't have to justify the purchase to themselves either
I apologize in advance if this falls under not retro but I need to ask a question.
So, I currently own pic related (Revo K101 Plus). Pretty solid GBA hardware clone. Backlit screen and all. Only problem is that it can't play GB(C) games outside of Goomba Color, which is bad.
Now, I have one of two options here.
>sell Revo, get OG GBA, AGS 101 screen and a shell swap for maybe $90 altogether which would probably be as much as I sell the Revo for given its asking price
>keep Revo, get a GBC, shell swap it and get a LOCA frontlight, probably $60-70
What do you think?
Also, to add to this, does one need to solder anything for either of the mods? I suck with soldering.
why not the 35$ gb boy colour option?
>>3585051
Because I thought the build quality on that thing looked super-poor
>>3585043
>OG GBA, AGS 101 screen and a shell swap for maybe $90 altogether
I'd be really impressed if you could find all those things for that price.
>LOCA frontlight
These are all fucking terrible mods. Don't do it.
It's time to step up and realize the miracle that is GB Boy Colour. You don't seem to mind not using original hardware, but it's not software emulation either.
i have a mmx3 cartridge that takes like 7 tries to start up properly. is it safe to sell this on ebay if i explain this clearly or is there still a good chance someone will take advantage of the situation and claim foul? i don't want to sully my ebay score.
I wouldn't risk it. Ebay heavily favors the buyer whenever there's a dispute. I assume you've done all the best cleaning possible to try and fix your cart?
Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the cartridge?
>>3585003
This, OP.
Vigorously rub the contacts with a dry Q-tip, then put 99% rubbing alcohol on the other end and vigorously rub the contacts down with that.
Wait for the alcohol to try and see if the cartridge works. If there's still gunk on the contacts, you might need to get a fine emery board and gently rub it on the contacts. I've salvaged a few carts that way.
Been thinking about picking up a PSX. What games do you recommend picking up?
>>3584927
Doom, King's Field, Metal Gear Solid, Croc, Twisted Metal 1 and 2, Parasite Eve, Resident Evil 2.....the list goes on......and on
why?
just get a PS2
>>3584935
I been hearing good things about Parasite Eve
Wow, fuck this game. I revisited this game after 15 years seeing if my dumb, older self could fare it better than my dumb, younger self was able to.
Let me tell you, it's gotta be a strong contender for one of the worst games on the Game Boy Color. Everything in this game is intrinsically broken by principle of bad programming. Jumping? Has an input delay. Attacking? Good luck, your weapons are just barely more reliable than the sword from Deadly Towers. Navigation? Maneuvering? Half-baked control scheme (B is jump and A is attack, are you kidding me?) and level design (why are health recovery items restrained to treasure chests and why are half of them empty to deliberately ruse the player - it literally says "April Fools!" when you open these chests) topped with nonsensical enemy layout and patterns create an artificial difficulty that would make From Software cringe.
It's amazing how this came out over ten years after Super Mario Land graced the original Game Boy's launch lineup. All that time and yet that dinky little game still serves as an example this game fails to follow. I dare call it the Bubsy 3D of 2D platformers.
>>3584895
luckly a lot of the non-/vr/ Spongebob games are actually pretty good.
>>3584901
Yeah man Battle for Bikini Bottom was my shit, the movie game andCreature from the Krusty Krabwere comfy too
At least it got linzner on the music.
Everything about the game was great, The designers of this game were genieses.
Only games equal to it in design were Dark Sun online, Planescape Torment, Fallout 2, Arcanum, and bloodlines.
The designers of this game never got the praise they deserved.
darksun is fucking amazing, people might bitch about DS2 having bugs making it unplayable, but i've ran that game at least 5 times and never had a problem. long story short, git gud, faggots
>>3584726
>Start the game
>Create character
>"Fight in the pit!"
>Die
>Main menu again
Great design.
>>3585504
Git gud
I was planning on using pic related to play my genesis on my hdcrt. Scart rgb to this thing and then to the HDMI slot on my Sega Trinitron. Will this work?
https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32704949966.html?aff_click_id=c2af82e99f2a45928b56c563a0ee5f33-1476139145666-05927-UneMJZVf&aff_platform=y#autostay
>>3584708
>the HDMI slot on my Sega Trinitron
Sure
>>3584708
If Monoprice has it, get it from there. If not, go with your url.
>>3584708
That adapter says HDMI to SCART, not SCART to hdmi. And there's nothing on the page about it being able to do the opposite. So it won't work.
Tec Toy is rumored to manufacture a new HDMI megadrive. Here is whats known so far:
The new console will look like the Model 1 Genesis/Mega Drive;
It will have cart slot, SD card reader, HDMI and AV output;
It will come with a classic Genesis three-button controller;
The box will be similar to the one from the ’90s;
TecToy is still deciding on the hardware, however it’s known that they’re trying to keep it as close to the original one as possible;
It will be manufactured in Brazil;
Tectoy won’t manufacture new cartridges;
Games could be released on SD cards;
There’s a possibility that it will play games from other consoles (Probably Master System);
The console will cost R$ 499 (around US $160).
Gonna be cheap shit if its anything like atgames
>It will still be based on FireCore
therefore
>Games will sound like shit
>Savegames will not function, some games with save functions will crash on start
>>3584667
Don't get my hopes up. This sounds perfect. The price isn't awful compared to an HDMI upscaler + flashcart.
But it sounds too good to be true. Something will fuck it up.
What do you consider your top 5 retro consoles?

Am I a casual or is this retardedly hard?
This feels unfair at points.
It's just that the game gives you freedom to explore, including to areas you shouldn't be in yet. It doesn't give any indication what the danger zones are either, so I'd follow a guide if you wanna stay on the safe path.
>>3584534
Casual is a design style, not a difficulty setting. Binding of Isaac is casual despite being pretty bastard hard.
>>3584540
According to modern game reviews, every game is either "casual" or "The Dark Souls of _____"
Opinions?
>>3584303
your screenshot is too small
>>3584536
I share in this opinion. I'm also of the opinion you should have saved the actual picture rather than its thumbnail.
>>3584303
About ants? They're small
You're playing through a game, each level is cooler and more hectic than the last one. Get to the final level and all hyped for how fun and intense it will be. Then it's a boss rush level and the final enemy sucks.
/vr/ disappointments?
>>3584106
Simons quest Dracula
The game is great up til that point
>>3584106
>final boss is a giant version of you
>>3584106
that looks cool as fuck mang
/vr/ I need your advice. I just bought a Japanese Dreamcast and two games from another seller, Shenmue 2 and Skies of Arcadia (both Japanese version).
Both these games are crashing on me.
Do you think it's the games or the console that's faulty?
In the case of Shenmue 2 I get to the part where I recieve the bag the thugs stole and the kid shows me where it is. The picture just freezes, the music continues
>>3583963
Considering it's both games doing this (fairly unusual), it could be the laser on the Dreamcast. Some models crap out easier than others.
>>3583963
Dreamcast lasers are know to be very shitty. You might have just gotten one that is old and has been used too much.
Can you do an audio recording of your Dreamcast doing the loading sequence of a game (Dreamcast logo -> Sega logo -> Start screen of game)? If so, do that and upload it to Vocaroo or some other site.
>>3584005
In case you can't, or don't want to do an audio recording, is your laser giving a high-pitched whining sound, or does it sound like it's grinding rocks? If the latter, your laser is fucked. If you have the technical skills to replace it, lasers cost 5$ on AliExpress or 10-15$ on eBay if you don't want to wait 1-2 months for delivery.
