So how does the series hold up after 20 years, and who here is actually excited for the upcoming remasters/remakes?

Personally, after finishing the Imaginators level, I'm quite hyped to see what the remasters/remakes look and feel like.

I'm looking forward to it, I guess. Although I assume it's going to be like the Abe's Oddysee remake where the entire feel of the game is changed, maybe it'll have the awkward clunky feel of PS2 Crash.

I'd be more excited about a Spyro remake to be honest.

Slightly OT, but the Crash haters kind of made me look at it in a different light, after playing it to death, when you get past the nostalgia it's kind of a meh platformer. With the lack of momentum build up, there's no reward for traversing obstacles other than you don't die. If they added maybe something similar to old school Sonic or Mario, where the game rewards you for good play by allowing you to move faster, I'd be more excited for it.

Crash was all about the graphics. It was a graphic whore game just like Aladdin for Genesis or DKC for SNES.

By Naughty Dog's own admission the gameplay was a secondary concern and they didn't worry about it until the graphics were perfect. Naughty Dog's game engine with pre-calculated 3D visibily required the player to have no control over the camera angle for it to work.

A thread for those who need help in finding their forgotten vidya.

I'll start:
>3d sim game where you can deploy and drive up to two different aircrafts and tanks
>one of the aircrafts has a glider parachute shape and the other is blocky with 4 engines attached outside of the main body like :o:
>can alternate between the deployed vehicles and even guide them through the map
>can equip shit on the vehicles with bombs to blow up enemy buildings or lasers to make them shoot faster
>On 1st level there's a single green tank that fires red plasma bullets that crawls to the player's base to fuck shit up.

Good coincidence, I wanted to start a thread and ask people for tips. I will begin my first playthrough on weekend.

My friend already told me to max Intelligence and Wisdom and put the rest of the points in Charisma or Dexterity.

Nice! Played it years ago without understanding the story so I'll give it another go.
It's pretty simplistic but I'd still recommend it to fans of SRW or Langrisser.

GPL is so fucking awesome it's hard to believe it's a sim from 1998 iirc, GP series is also detailed as fuck and better than lots of "sims" we have nowadays. ~~My favourite retro racer is GT2 though~~

Anyone tried to turn this into something useful? I backed it on kickstarter years ago. Played for a couple of weeks when it arrived and it's shelved somewhere ever since. I read I can put Retro Arch in it but I'm curious if anyone here actually used this for retro gaming and how good or bad it is.
