Hey guys, I've got a Nintendo 64 that when I turn it on, I get no picture on the TV, instead it just makes a quiet, high pitch noise. Found another old 64 in the basement and when I plug it into the same cables I get a green screen. Tips?

PEAR INTO PEACHES!
Are there any games similar to Quake 1?
I'm talking gothic landscapes with Lovecraftian horror, combined with blazing high-speed action.
There's that Call of Ktulu game (2005) but it's not /vr/.
Puting aside the Lovecraftian factor, Hexen may have the gothic landscapes you are looking for. The first one is sprite based; The second one is polygon based. Pic related.
Also, there's always that Heretic game that is a precursor to the Hexen ones. I personaly think it is the coolest of them all.

>Hexen
Yeah that was the first thing that came to mind. Try it OP.
>>3579773
Oh and also Blood, not really the same setting but definitely deals with the occult.
>the epitome of bad level design
Why this games is considered a masterpiece?
>>3579705
Tell me how the first 5–6 stages are bad. I'll wait.
>>3579714
Are you shitting me? Boring "do what you want" stage, the only good part of SM64 are the Bowser levels
>>3579715
>Boring "do what you want" stage
Not him but what the fuck does that even mean and why would that be considered negative or an epitome of bad level design. Give us some solid opinions, anon
Snes>Wii>GC>Nes>WiiU>>>>>N64
Remove your nostalgia googles, this is the truth
>>3579572
what does nostalgia have to do with anything when your order is completely random chronologically? we all grew up with different consoles and therefore will be nostalgic for different things. pointless statement.
>>3579575
not random, it's a quality order
>>3579572
Nes=Snes>N64=GC>Wii>WiiU
Can I just say something? The death animations in this game. So. Fucking. Satisfying. Why don't more modern games implement graphic scripted death animations like this? It's way better than ragdoll or any of the other crap they use. Feels super real and visceral despite being scripted. Hate to be the guy to complain about
>muh call of dooties
but seriously....are modern devs really that lazy?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PC6gS5j4__0
this video focuses a little too much on the cerebral bore, but you get the idea
>>3579571
You can have both canned death animations and ragdolls in games, dude. And I personally dislike canned death animations and vastly prefer ragdolls. After you've seen all the canned death animations it starts to become boring and often vidya games don't bother having many canned death animations either.
Does anyone have a list of all the consoles with good flashcarts and good pirating methods? I'm a poorfag and I've only been playing PS2 games for a long time because I don't like emulation yet the PS2 is very easy to pirate games on. If I had 50 grand to blow on retro systems and games I would, but I don't and I just want to play games without having to resort to emulation.
>>3579189
A Wii is super cheap and pretty easy to hack.
It can emulate up to N64 (PSX isn't good though but you have a PS2).
You can also of course play Wii and Gamecube games for free.
>>3579212
wii can not emulate n64 at all too many glitches. You need an everdrive64 if you dont want glitches.
>>3579230
The Wii emulates N64 very well (at least VC does) without gliches.
An Everdrive/Flashcart just contains ROMs. If you play it on original hardware, then the games are running natively. If you play it on an emulation box, then it's being emulated.
Is Super Mario Bros 2 JP the quality as most romhacks, or is it genuinely well designed?
>>3579034
I haven't actually played many SMB1 romhacks, is there a standard you had in mind OP?
I thought SMB2J was good, challenging but good.
Given all those fucking hidden blocks, it actually feels to me like some joke romhack.
8-3 stills triggers me.
>>3579034
the latter. 10/10 stage design
I beat Mega Man 2 on difficult using original hardware for the first time today.
Can I come hang out with you guys now?
Also, tell me about your most recent /VR/ feats of strength.
>>3578994
>Also, tell me about your most recent /VR/ feats of strength.
Beating mega man 1-8 without e-tanks and without using special weapon unless forced to (I.e. Bubble lead on alien wily in MM2).
I want to take up perfect running but I don't have the patience for it.
>>3578994
that's nothing OP, come back when you beat Tower of Druaga
I finished Jet Force Gemini in 10 and a half hours. That's not much of an accomplishment, though.
What does /vr/ think of the greatest JRPG of all time?

FFVII ripoff/10
Normal battles were slow and cumbersome, and the element system sucked. That said, the ship battles were fun, and I enjoyed the exploration.
The real question is, Aika or Fina?
What are the longest /vr games in terms of gameplay?
I'm sure it's some rpg
But I am curious.....
Dragon Quest 7 (original PS1 version, not the remake) famously clocks in around 100 hours.
probably some arcade game that loops endlessly untill you die or get bored.
Daggerfall? I mean, even if you just did the main quest some of the dungeons near the end are fucking massive and without a map you will quite possibly spend hours in them
which n64 usb controller do you recommend?
i bought one and the analog stick have zero sensibility
controller thread
>>3578906
>i bought one
What brand?
I want a snes usb myself, for the d-pad
>>3578906
>sensibility
Wouldn't it be the person who bought a cheap chink ubs n64 clone controller and expected it to work that has zero sensibility.
Get a USB adapter and use an original controller.
I use this. Love it. Except for the fact that pretty much one of the ports doesn't work. The other works perfectly fine. Same shit with my blue playstation controller adapter.
what are some interesting old simulation games?

I like the aesthetic
>>3578390
Is that SimCopter? Back when I was obsessing over SimCity 3000 Unlimited, I dug through stuff like SimCopter and Streets of SimCity and thought those were oddly out of character with the brand.
>>3578914
yes, that is simcopter. I played this game. Ask me anything
>>3578914
Because they were meant to be used with SimCity 2000.
Well its a tragedy to see how awful this series remake was. The original aesthetic of the series was amazing. Eerie medieval setting with amazing haunting ambient music. The first 3 games and especially the third have great soundtracks. Now we put dubstep in ours games and having a single independent male hero doing shit on his own is sexist. Rip gaming.
If in only 30 years video games have managed to become a stagnating art, I look forward to seeing what will happen by 2036.
Ill be 40 then. I dont want to think about that.
