When translation of japanesse version of Banana Prince?
German version sucks

>New released translations:
>> Saiyuuki World
Oh shit nice. It's part of the Wonder Boy/Monster World series right? Sequel or prequel to Whomp'em too!
Just started playing Waxworks and this shit is fucking sick.
What are the most gruesome/disturbing retro that you remember?
>>3640412
I don't know why but 90% of 90s PC point and click adventure game midi music just makes me feel uneasy
>>3640412
Two words.
Harvester.
Clowns.
There are some nasty deaths in Phantasmagoria.
Also rape
Plan on doing a full Baldur's Gate > ToB run, which classes benefit the most from starting in BG1?
Also general BG thread
>>3640405
I'm not completely sure about the hands-down best, i dont think the BG community have reached a consensus, but the worst are generally believed to be the Swashbuckler, rogues in general (though they are an obvious necessity), Wizard slayer and some of the specialist mage-classes.
With that said, any of the classes are viable especially if you use ultra-OP gear.
There is also a couple of really decent rogue-rebalancing mods.
>>3640405
I can't think of any classes/builds that explicitly benefit from it offhand. Some do drop off in utility as the game progresses, though. Archers, for example, are great in BG1, but melee fighters are strictly superior in ToB.
>>3640428
It's worth noting that traps are ridiculously overpowered. Rogues may not be very good in direct combat, but they can instantly annihilate any enemy encounter that allows you to set up traps beforehand, at least supposing you don't mind using such a cheesy strategy.
Starting as a rogue and dual-classing into something else after ~10 levels also has some benefits, and the XP sunk into it will cease to be particularly relevant by the time you reach ToB.
Bards are also very weak. The bard song simply doesn't provide enough of a boost to be worthwhile, and they're otherwise generally inferior to a fighter/mage.
I kind to sit down and do a full run of this game with very strict roleplaying shit
What sort of character should I make?
I have a fully functioning FDS, with a new belt.
I use it sparingly so it won't just randomly break because these supposedly are shit longevity wise.
But the games are another story. I've heard they will just randomly go bad. Which scares me.
Does anyone have a Famicom Disk System and how do you store your games?
>>3640127
From a post before I did:
FDS games when not being played must immediately be put back into their storage from the system. No laying them down, no passing them around.
You want to keep the environment warm, no static electricity, etc. Never wet or humid. Always store in an airtight container when not being played. If you do not have an airtight container, go buy one. Keep it sealed in a room temperature or slightly cool DARK place. Do not put the container in sunlight and even avoid keeping it out in normal light.
I have had several copies of games go blank after
Mishandling,
Dropping,
Inserting and ejecting too many times,
Storing in a hot environment (moved in the back of a uhaul like a moron),
None of my FDS games have stopped working if they were handled and stored right.
I just have them scattered about. Some are on boxes. Keep them away from magnetism and store them in their sleeves and cases and try not to worry about it.
One option is an FDS Stick, which I myself need to get. It is basically a flash cart for the FDS, connecting directly to the RAM adapter. Using this will help preserve your real disks since they won't get used as much and will therefore be less likely to succumb to dirt or drive insertion mishaps.
>>3640138
Gentle, regular use should be fine.
But I've seen some stupid fucking stuff happen with those disks when people overuse them, overrun them, or treat them poorly. They think they're floppies.
Doesn't it make you extremely anxious to think that retro-games are an increasingly rare commodity and it will eventually be impossible for an average person to afford them?
And that they'll eventually be too valuable to be worth the risk of using them?
Every game and console you see on Ebay is likely a console gone that you'll never be able to get if you don't pull the trigger right there.
>>3639949
Yeah. I'm scared for the day that old games will be too valuable for eBay and you have to go to special shops for them. Fuck every other collected besides me DESU senpai
>>3639949
You're wrong.
As time goes on and people forget about these games, they will become worth less and less.
Software is archived. I get that feeling much worse from ephemera.
Great game, or...
...the greatest game?
I'm pretty fond of the whole series, and I hope to see it continue.
Kagero is my favorite of the retro entries, mostly due to the plot. It's poorly translated, but it's still a good example of how to handle branching plotlines. While the dialogue choices have some impact, it's the actions you undertake throughout the game that really influence what direction the story will take. How faithfully Millennia follows her orders and how ruthless she is in pursuing her objectives makes a big difference in how things play out.
>tfw they turned it into a perv sim now
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWrcNvWdMac
>Gold X
My God, it's as good as Bubsy 3D?
How come there weren't any retro games starring the best Bond?
>>3639709
Who cares, games sucked ass in the late 80's anyway.
Bro,
You ain't never gunna believe this shit.
>>3639725
>that kludge sound whenever Dalton lands on the floor
holy shit lmfao
Name one good reason why you aren't playing this game right now.
I don't like it all that much
>>3639681
life's short and there's games I haven't played already.
>Black Friday sales everywhere.
>"Boy I wonder what I can get!"
>"I'm not too interested in this..." "This seems too expensive..." "I probably can't run this on my PC anyway"
>Every single game I ended up buying was some game I played as a kid.
I-is this how it starts?
>>3639650
>starts
Niggs, for most of us it never ended.
I just got a bunch of retro games from the steam sale that will run well on my GPD WIN. Currently playing through the Gabriel Knight series. I must have had my rose colored glasses on because I don't remember these being this frustrating when I played them as a kid. I've had to look at guides online several times already.
>>3640063
I didn't got anything from Activision because they overprice their games to hell and back. I did got a bunch of stuff on GOG tho, and I have a GPD Win coming in the mail soon. How does that little thing do with old PC games? I'm curious as to whether the touch screen is usable in them.
hey all,
was cleaning out my old room at my mums house and found afew of these, i had no idea we even owned them.
are they worth anything?
been coming to /vr/ for a while and i dont think ive ever seen these ever posted
They've definately come up in threads here.
Depending on if they all have their instructions, quality of the boxes, and of course the cards themselves.
Roughly 50 - 100aud depending on the quality.
Very cool to have
>>3639464
cool!
might put them away for another 30 years and give them to my son haha
I almost feel this is b8.
But if it isn't good find dood, these are pretty cool. Not a lot of games used the Hu-Card slot on the MS.
So we all agree that this is the best looking game of the 90's, but what is the best looking game of the 80's?
>>3639254
Quake 3 looked better, IMO.
>>3639254
The Crysis of 8bit era
>>3639254
>So we all agree that this is the best looking game of the 90's
No. Shiny effects doesnt equal good look, art direction matters too. And that is better and more cohernt even in Q2. Frankly, Unreal aged like shit.
What are the good ones to play on PC with a keyboard or /vr? MAME and arcade classics are an obvious answer but i feel like keyboard is just too fast for emulating steering wheel properly which results in uncontrollable vehicles bouncing off the walls, and the only decent one i know on other platforms is Crazy cars III/Lamborghini: the american challenge. Can you recommend some good sprite-based racers for any platform? Is Lotus series any good?
CC2 ad for being the best ad ever.
>>3638961
World rally Fever
>>3638961
Roadkill
>>3639010
>>3638961
The PC Engines underrated classic series. If you like Mario or Sonic you really should play this game. Its just as good (or even better) than Mario and Sonic.
+Bonks Adventure
+Bonks Revenge
+Bonk 3: Bonks Big Adventure
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4o32GS2aNg
Bonk's Revenge is a seriously good game. One of the best 2D platformers ever.
>Shitty ass jumping mechanics
Yeah, no thanks.
>>3638962
>Shitty assss, shitty ass
No thx.
I recently spent 100-200 on a refurbished game gear with replaced capicaters and a LED back light, 22 games, the game gear bag, And the game gear AC plug. I was wondering what are some of the underrated gems are for the game gear as a whole.
>>3638779
>200 on a game gear
They're worth 30 dollars
>>3638785
I didn't spend 200 on just a game gear you urethra, I spent 200 on a fixed up refurbished game gear, 22 games, the game gear bag, and the plug. And even then it was probably around 150 as I bought other non related shit.
>>3635543
Never ever played a BoF game, where should I start?
III or IV
By the first game i suppose.
>>3638330
First one is not that good. Second one is best.
